Re: What are the Odds of A.C.E. an Tutorial or Working in 2K17

I think the solution should be that there is a menu or tab on the gameplan screen that indicates what types of ACE package that particular team uses. For example with the Bucks it will say "switch all ball screens".

As the game goes on it will indicate on the top of the screen what adjustment is made. Using the Bucks example, you been switch on all ball screens but Westbrook is getting to the paint to easy because Greg Monroe is switched on him. Now ACE updates during the game and "LETS YOU KNOW" that you will ice Westbrook (or double) on ball screens.

They should just come out and say ACE on , ACE overrides everything. No matter what adjustments you make. ACE off you make all the adjustments as you please.

This is a brilliant and deep system, that needs to be shown off more.
I don't think this thread is about what the ACE CPU is doing against you it's what ACE is doing for the user who has also has defensive settings specific to players. Will things override?

For example what is "JUNK"? I could make an educated guess but unless I know specifically what my cpu ai teammates are doing in that set it's hard to say what is happening, did he react accordingly or was I overriding a certain action. On offense you have lines on the court or symbols above the head but on defense your reliant on your own settings or the ACE sets.

So im asking specifically if the ACE sets such as "Junk", "stay at home", etc .. can be overridden by adjusting defensive actions? And do they work well together or is it one or the other kind of deal where you choose an ACE set for specific situations but turn ACE off and rely on your own defensive actions [ hard hedge, help no rotation, etc ]
to completely understand what your teammates are doing.

Personally, I would love for 2K (Czar & OG) to create a skills trainer type mode similar to Madden. One where we can see different schemes, offensive and defensive, the pros and cons and how the concepts are applied in game. Not only will we understand better how the game views our actions but also get educated some one the sport. Then more of us could and would use ACE and different teams and players. Im not afraid to say that it's confusing as hell sometimes and it's hard to know if my break downs are user error (probably most likely) a scheme thing or a glitch.

Re: What are the Odds of A.C.E. an Tutorial or Working in 2K17

My questions on defense are about the interactions between pause menu defensive settings and in game adjustments made through the OTF menu system or the time out menu system.

On the one hand, outside of the pause menu defensive settings, I'd like 2k answers and descriptions to complete this list and correct whatever is wrong in this comment.

When I ask about interactions between the systems, here's an example of a question:

Let's say I have defensive settings for most players as tight/moderate/baseline/under/catch/under/catch with help and no rotation, help (all), and tag on roll is no and prerotate is no. I have switch on guards and switch all for off ball screens.

Then during the 2Q the CPU is adjusting to my settings and getting the SG hot. He's becoming a problem, especially with penetration. So I decide to try the Force Jumper adjustment on him.

So, what actually changes? If, as OG said, my pause menu defensive settings override all else, then what will change?

At this point, I have yet to find any description from 2k about how the command "force Jumper" translates into actual defensive scheme behavior. And if I already have my pause menu settings constructed as above, do they negate or in any way interfere with the intended, out of the box "Force Jumper" adjustment?

That's a start to illustrate where I think communication and education about these systems is lacking.

On a side not with regard to the menus, I notice that even when I have ACE off, during time outs, there will be some adjustments highlighted that I did not put in place. How does that happen? Likewise, I will see adjustments I have intentionally made be changed or disappear (not highlighted) when I come to my next time out. So what is happening there?

Even if the system is not actually redoing my adjustments with ACE off and this is a bug, the system does a poor job of communicating to the user what settings are actually confirmed to be active at any given time.

Its a good idea but probably too costly for them to make (I.E.- why spend money if it wont get more people to buy the game) But it would be kind of cool if for maybe 1 to 5 2KTV episodes they simply said Rachel you stay home, Mike OG and Czar are going to give a deep dive into ACE, Freelance and input controls (timing/spacing/etc.) or simply dedicate their YouTube channel to that (seems redundant to have 2kTV episodes on the YouTube channel)

Well asking like that probably isn't going to get anything fixed, or your questions answered, any quicker. I'm still not sure why some of you think you can just go out of your way to talk trash on the devs and 2k's community members every chance you get and expect to get any help on how menu systems work.

We've lost that privilege once this board turned into one big toxic dump of complaints.

Yeah, like asking nicely like a little puppy 500 times garnered a response.

I don't blame devs for not being as active on OS.

It's not a good look for them. Look at other games where dev community involvement has diminished like WoW. They are losing their player base at a staggering rate. Largely, according to said players, due to lack of communication with devs. They say a few things, then go silent and focus on aspects of the game that nobody is happy about.

For reference, Blizzard (WoW, Hearthstone, Diablo and others) are probably worth 100 times what the 2K team is, and their games reach a staggering amount of people and they still can't afford to hemorrhage customers.

Customers will jump ship in a heartbeat. Being transparent and communicative isn't difficult and it goes a very long way in endearing themselves to their customers.

Dev involvement on OS this cycle has been diminished since before launch.

Their involvement has not been a reaction to community negativity.

It preceded, and exacerbated, community negativity.
