They just havent figured out MyPark should be its own mode and be seperate from everything else.

Basically, remove MyPark from MyCareer and make them seperate, and get rid of the narrative story created by some celeb each year, NOBODY likes it. Do that and they either make MyCareer a multiyear player lock thing, in which case people will just do that in MyLeague and not even bother at all with it while complaining relentlessly in packs to 2k, or 2k gives us an actual realistic MyCareer centered around the NBA and not some made up character going on double-dates and getting haircuts with Michael B. Jordan, im sorry, JUSTICE YOUNG. Dont get me wrong, i like all the cutscenes about endorsements and the rookie hazing and training and doing things with other players, but the Orange Juice thing and stuff like that is taking it WAY TOO FAR.
I don't understand. I play a full season then go to mypark with my player. Or I dont but work for badges/improvement and go to mypark. It is fine as a choice. Separating? What are you creating super park players from the get go. There should be work. Or is everyone on your team chucking to get better? No thanks. Game point and trying to get bones was enough of that for me this year. The grind should exist to make your player. If you explain how you can avoid those two things I am all in. For now Tweaking game play, seems just fine.

I like the way the draft was before 2K16. I don't know what kind of feel they were going for with this new presentation. Just give me Adam Silver at the podium calling players names. The players, at leas lottery picks, donning the team cap and going up to shake his hand. Having a ticker showing who was just picked, best available, mock drafts, team needs, etc. Finally, having a little scouting report, like the one you get in MyCareer for the player you're guarding, on the draftee showing their strengths and weaknesses.

It's hardly rocket science, they could have an option at the start where you could opt for either being able to use your player in MyPark or not. Those of us who have no interest whatsoever in it shouldn't be capped by the player archetypes just because of online.

What about earning VC through MyPark games as well as from all other game modes and applying it to said online MyPark player. Still a grind, same way its always been, but now not linked to MyCareer. NHL does this pretty well with EASHL, which is im pretty sure the #1 played game mode in the series.

EDIT: Or the post directly above mine.

I actually have a big idea for this. What about for the draft, play through college as usual, then after college get invited to team USA IF YOU PLAYED WELL ENOUGH as well as going through combine drills and maybe a showcase or something like that. Also have interviews throughout that process which can affect your image and draft stock. Then go through pre-draft interviews as well as picking your agent (complete with multiple agents that affect negotiations with endorsements and teams, etc. and each would require a percentage of your VC earnings so better agents would get you better offers and endorsements but would take a bigger VC percentage), then go to the draft, only teams act their own way and can draft in a completely different way than real life and make their own trades, which makes it feel like just you being added to the draft makes it play out entirely different which it should. Then you get picked and should show you walking to the stage, shaking Adam Silver's, or Mark Tatum's if 2nd round, hand and showing your wearing the cap and taking pictures with the jersey and the commish or deputy commish. After that is the highlight reel from all previous games or workouts in your career with commentary and a scouting report, and an interview (can be fixed to happen or only possible if you were drafted high enough). After that is summer league and the season. All of this is dependent on if you are drafted, meaning being un-drafted is now possible again. This way it would make draft night a much bigger spectacle in game, as it is IRL.

They need to find a better balance between the role playing stuff and dumb narratives that makes everyones career identical. They should have more simple cut scenes with other NBA players.
Ya the extra players is stupid.

They have access to the entire league, run a story where you have a rivalry or friendship with one real life player and whether you're on the same team or not should determine it.

Have in game things affect the story.

              EXAMPLE:

Say this player is D'Angelo Russell. The story has a couple of branches.
              i) You're drafted to the Lakers - if a PG - rivalry story - if a different position friendship story
ii) You're drafted to any other team - if a PG - rivalry story - if a different position, friendship story
iii) drafted to Celtics or Clippers - rivalry story regardless

If you're on the same team, the amount of passes between the two of you affects a cumulative chemistry grade, things like assists, taking the last shot, etc. affects if you get on, and how the story branches.

If you're vs each other, your head to head matchups indicate your rivalry grade, and you both use press conferences to affect each others confidence, which affects your in game ability.

Maybe to make this sort of story more interesting, get a real life NBA rookie to do this, which is what I think they had with Dante Exum before, but I never played that game so don't know what its like.

At the moment though, the story feels far too scripted, and you still have no ownership of your player.

Half time and post game interviews don't determine anything, which is silly because it did in 2k16.

Every scene should have the option to pick an answer which determines which direction your story branches into.

I would love to try and be a complete fan favourite, with dances that get picked up on (expressive badge but affects crowd response and commentary) or be a complete heel, a completely cocky player who is hated for knowing I'm the best - or saying I'm the best but my performances letting me down.

Create expectations for yourself, your team, and see how it affects your team-mates, your perception around the league and endorsements is the way this game needs to go.

As an example, my first build was a terrible slasher. I was on the Nuggets and trying to play the mode earnestly, without buying VC. I SUCKED. I was costing us games, missing open layups, just all around trash. and yet commentary was still saying how exciting orange juice was. How we were taking over the league and were an exciting duo.

That completely ruined the story for me. So I made a sharpshooter and put it on rookie and grinded out badges because I had no desire to see the natural progression of the story because it didn't exist. Its as if 2k wants us to treat MyCareer as a vessel for badge grinding, which is weird considering how much money they must have poured into the story.

Re: The problem with the MyCareer draft

Perhaps 2K should take a page from FIFA 17's book; they literally have a single player story/campaign mode and a player career mode.

Story mode works just like most video games, you assume the role of a particular character and play through a fairly linear narrative. This allows for a more coherent story (as opposed to 2K My Career where things can become nonsensical due to being a "one size fits all" experience ), and a somehwat more fulfulling experience for people who enjoy this sort of mode.

Player Career works alot like Creating a Legend used to, create your player (or choose an existing player) and play out their career as far as you wish to. No bells or whistles that are not needed, literally just play through a reasonably realistic simulation of a player's career. With a fairly minimal amount of fleshing out (adding combine/draft/pre draft interviews,sumer/d league, player rivalries, etc.), this would probably be the mode most off the offline career/sim ball type fans would enjoy.

It should also be noted that FIFA does indeed separate online and offline modes to enough effect that neither mode really interferes too much the other.

That's what 2k16 was, and that was an appallingly bad/cringeworthy story.

and may I add that obviously FIFA are working to get their career mode to be just like 2k's and likely to integrate with their Pro Clubs mode.

It was just their first go and it was complete trash on top of it.

2k19 doesn't have a draft and it makes it the second year in a row that the Draft hasn't been in MyCareer. I really wonder if we'll ever see it again. I mean I understand why they're doing it. People want to play on their favorite teams instead of letting the 2k GMs and fate decide. It takes away some of the realism I really hope it does return somehow and 2k can get some balance for those of us who want to enter the draft and those who just want to go play with their favorite teams.

There should be an option to select if not select then depending on your skills in summer league or draft combine:
                          a) undrafted way (FA)
                          b) 1st round pick (lottery)
                          c) late 1st round
                          d) 2nd round /two way contract
