This is common in all bball video games and it's why iso moves aren't pretty because there is no real subtlety or small space moves. Hard to have a beautiful midrange game because of this but it's an issue that is old as video game basketball itself.

In other words, the midrange game and iso dribble moves are on a "macro" scale, rather than "micro". In real life a few inches makes a big difference.

What OP didn't mention is this only happens to the team on human side because in my career players on CPU team always have "more solid" body when it comes to ball and body contact.

CPU even exploit this to the max when they double team you and force a turn over. 99% of the time if you watch a replay of such situations, it is just CPU moves super close to you, even some of their body parts swing through your player body, so close that the ball will always bounce off their body for a turnover without any stealing effort from them. Guaranteed 99% of the double team turnovers are like that.

So many annoying bugs around the game that made me stop playing for over a week already. Came back to check the 1.05 double team update but I still get immediate double teamed as soon as mid 1st quarter. Not sure what they have fixed.

Also thought more about this last night and the other systems in the game are "macro" as well, such as finishing at the rim. For example, in real life you can have a quick finish with either hand to take advantage of a very small window of space/time to finish. In video game basketball, you need a second or two at least to finish cleanly, and it's much harder to be "crafty" and take advantage of small spaces/windows of opportunity.

I think some of that is defensive recover speed as well. I've always felt that 2K favored the defense in recover speed and favored the users who frantically switch defenders on D.

I hope future games focus more on this. Playing as a Paul Pierce type player, or Sergio Rodriguez, etc., hasn't really been possible yet. Sure, you could make some space in the mid-range game to get a jumpshot, but it's not exact enough or the right ratio of space compared to real life bball. Does that make sense?

It's just not and ever has been that "pretty" to be a mid-range wizard in the game. The craftiness element is lacking in games like this, IMO.
