Re: How MyLeague should be played:

Has anyone tried this in 2k18?

I'm about to with slight changes to the sliders.

I generally use Schnaidt1's sliders which are consistent from year to year. So I'll be changing these differences using the differences in Schaidt's.

What I mean is say Schnaidt changed injury effects by 9 points this year over last, I'll change this method by 9

Thing is you can only run like 8 seasons before you got 95 overalls sitting in free agency because every team is over the cap by like 200 million

This mode must be played with salary cap off

If you completely leave teams alone to do their thing yes, however with some contract editing each off season it becomes very manageable. I will use a random number generator to determine how many "bad" contracts I let stand each off season. By bad contracts I mean the instant albatrosses everyone knows, the Noah, Deng, Mozgov 2016 off season type deals

Extra late here though same logic applies to 19 - of course you need ‘good draft classes’ but there’s no way for second round or undrafted players to hit mid 80s. Personally I hate the scouting because you know everything about the player on draft night, thus no one slips and the second round players always fall out of the league in 2 years.

Re: How MyLeague should be played:

2nd round players most of the time don't even get a contract by their team, as bad nba players nowaday have a 72-75 OVR rating and most 2nd round picks are below 70.

Your method is really great. I used it last year for some time. But it is really exhausting, that you have to do sth like that every season, just to make this mode somewhat enjoyable.

Completely agree with you, but there are an occasional few that flash for a season or two or become all-stars at some point.

I wish you could trust the default sliders/rosters to have fun, but 2K hasn’t quite made it there yet.

Yes you have: just set their potential to mid 80s and their peak start up. To combat that have all players with better overalls to similar potential and their peak start to their age

                    I think I follow what you’re saying:

Give everyone decent potential ratings but use the peak age as a way to cap it. Example - a 19 year old 77 overall with 88 potential, but set his peak to 20 years old so he won’t progress?

Sounds like a very smart workaround and can definitely save time. My only issue is that players will ‘randomly’ get better and not be based on their production.

Great solution though and 2K allows you to quick edit peak ages this year (I believe).
