Change your controller settings to absolute. I had the same problem when I was grinding for this badge. Another problem would be tapping x initiate some kind of hook shot like you said. If that happens you're tapping and holding it for too long...its really weird and hard to explain but try tapping x and letting go immediatelyComment

Importantly, u hold the left trigger for engaging in postup, HOLD the left stick towards the paint for backing down, when u are near to the circle, HOLD the left stick towards baseline and tap square or shoot button.

Re: Drop step badge; wtf am I doing wrong!?
Update: 8 games later and I still don't have the bronze drop step badge!!!
I've watched videos, lowerd game speed to 65, changed controller settings to absolute.
After reading the replies I've gotten in this post, I thought I had figured out what I was doing wrong (thought I wasn't tapping square button, was holding it) ...so I've made sure to be aware of what I'm doing on the controls.... I still get the "post move score" pop up, but I feel like I'm now doing the up&under!!!
Since I've started to focus on drop step badge, I've gotten both bruiser and put back King from gold to hof! (Just got hustle rebounder left, it's gold so far) pick dodger, and on court coach...so the games aren't going to waste....but very frustrating when drop step is only 30 attempts...and I still don't have (while score 60+ just from post moves, in last 10 or something games!)
Help!!!???Comment

strange its a very easy move to do, get in the paint, post up using l2/Lt and then tap square(ps4) or X(xbox one), make sure your left stick points toward the basket before you tap squareUpdate: 8 games later and I still don't have the bronze drop step badge!!!

Re: Drop step badge; wtf am I doing wrong!?
If you're doing the up and under then you're still holding the button too long and possibly pressing the analog stick in the wrong direction.. It's a quick tap of the shot button while pressing the stick towards your back shoulder at the backboard.Comment

Share a video clip here if possible so we can see what's actually playing out for you. It'd be easier to critique the clip.
