Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
I've read through this thread and since I haven't played 2K with a lot of dedication since 2K15 I wanted to ask how the increased VC requirements affect someone who will never play the online aspects of 2K18?
I will only ever play offline franchise and single player my career. It's the way I've always played. I always found MyCareer a grind because I only want to play maybe 20 games a season and simulate the rest, but still progress normally.
My work around has previously been to create myself into my league and use player lock, but that's not the same.
So, how does this VC grind fest affect the offline users?Comment

If you don't want to pay extra money, then don't play MyPlayer. Simple...Comment

you sir, are one of the reason this bullsh*t has become what it is today. if you are not smart enough to see through 2ks scheme of sucking the money out of their customers, fair enough.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
2K will continue to have big costs for as long as people keep paying for it.
2K would drop their costs if more people stopped playing the mode.
Simple.
You may say that you're so smart to see 2K's scheme to generate money, but i bet you are still just as addicted to MyPlayer as the next person.Comment

if you don't play myPlayer coz of VC, they make it more expensive for the rest playing
you need to play and don't pay
i believe i bought 5€ once, but it's useless. at 85 OVR the VC-Grind stops anyway.Last edited by TripleJay_X; 09-10-2017, 05:39 AM.Comment

And I still can't figure out why people who don't care want to pop in here...
I don't play offline franchise. But when I saw that rotations cost vc in 2k14, I wasn't popping in threads telling people to stop complaining. People made enough fuss and it got changed. But I could see it was a terrible decision and I stood with them. People seem more intent on telling you to shut up and make binary decisions. Confuses me.
When your bottom line gets affected then you'll suddenly start caring a bit more.Last edited by ph33; 09-10-2017, 07:48 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
I buy VC. I also work roughly 60 hours a week, 9-11s essentially. I get home some nights and don't even feel like powering on the PS4. For me, The boost up to 85 helps shorten my grind which in my personal situation, would take forever to reach a decent level for the modes I enjoy.
In honesty, I see both sides here. My problem with this argument isn't the argument itself, but it's how militant it gets. I feel FN ostracized for even thinking about it. I think that's my problem here. A lot of guys are taking the wrong angle here.
It is NOT my fault, or any of the other VC buyers fault that 2k is locking stuff behind VC. That's absolutely stupid. Will it stop me from buying my guys upgrades? Hell no.
I'll spend my money on upgrades, and use what I generate from career to "deck out" my guy.
If that makes me part of the problem according to part of the user base, well, to put it bluntly: "I'm 32 years old, I'll spend my money that I work for how I want to. Me buying player upgrades is NOT why 2k locked haircuts behind a wall. Anyone that has a problem with that can kindly screw themselves"
Yes, I agree that making basic crap cost is Stupid. Fully on board that train. But this conversation always devolves into a discussion that, honestly, if we switched out "Park players", "Career Guys" and "MyPlayers" for "Black" or "Mexican" it would resemble a Racist rally.
TL;DR: Don't hate the player, hate the game. It's not the player's fault for this cash grab BS, and this will not go away unless you get a sizeable number to boycott. Seeing as they probably add 30% to the player base each year, a few hundred, hell a few thousand users are drops in a bucket.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
the seperation between offline and online is the problem i have with this VC-pay stuff. If you only play mycareer offline, everything should be free or at a very low cost and if you decide to go online with your player you have to convert your upgrades for VC or something like that....that would be fair imo.
i pay 50 bucks for the game and still need to pay to get some tatoos and haircuts for my offline-play...screw you 2k (in this matter).

On a good day last year you could get 500-2000 by fully playing out the mobile app.
This year it's 600 at the max, because they took out the card game. I haven't even gotten into the other nonsense.
I'm getting it used or off Craigslist so they don't get my purchase, but like you said, I'm just a tiny drop in the bucket. But it's just going to continue to get worse as it has every year, how else can we stop the bleeding?
I can go buy Live and ignore 2k's existence, but that's pretty much not going to change things.Comment

It's their flawed victim argument that's so off putting. You're "bad" because you buy VC. They could, but it's too much. Or its the principle or whatever...2K is bad for charging VC. People who dont pay a dime and grind for their VC are wrong. They could grind as well but it takes too long. They want to be able to compete with 85s on day 1. If they arent an 85 they cant compete. A for profit business has a profitable model but is somehow wrong for wanting to increase revenue. FOH!Comment

You're absolutely right. What the hell else can we do though? Last year's boycott attempt was met with laughter from the "opposition".

Bluntly: You need half the user base, At least. Because the number currently complaining isn't huge compared to the other number. Without that, this is rhetoric.
I do not want to be a guy coming in here to crap on everything. That was not my intention. I simply wanted to add why I do it, and the way the community starts treating and referring to people that do is ignorant. I do something because it is convenient to my lifestyle, and I come on here and see comments that make it sound like anyone that bought it personally walked into 2k, was asked if they should charge VC for haircuts, and replied: "Word Fam, Just F*** my s*** up!".
This is business. This is the Business model digital companies are adopting because of the revenue. Unfortunately this is the future, and this ball got rolling as soon as paid DLC/add on became a thing. Hell, blame Warcraft(Not WOW, like, oldschool Warcraft dropping 40 dollar expansion packs retail). This started from there.
The difference is they used old assets and new assets to create an entire new game story, arc, and feel, while as we've progressed content has become smaller so they can drop 4 updates at 19.99 a piece, vs. 1 at 40.
I am for your cause, and wish you guys the best in it. I don't think it will get off the ground, but I'd like to see it reduced to VC for attributes at least. Paying for a haircut in this situation preposterous.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
Dont feel bad. You are the user base. Enjoy the game however it is you do. VC came along in 2K13 and has become more pervasive. Yet the game is selling double what it was before. Offline ML guys like me are not responsible for that growth. We always bought the game and dont spend money in MC. VC is brining in more each year. It's pretty clear what's what. These guys crying like its the end of the world are the outliers. It's fine to not like the VC prices or implementation.

But I've seen the videos: "Yo! Just bought 500,000 VC, let's crack some packs for that amethyst whoever!"
We buy a lot day one, they buy a bulk amount like, 4 times a year.
