Don't you know your archetype is really Post Passer? As in you get the ball on the block and I run up to you and clog your space so you can pass me the ball for a contested layup with 5 people under the rim?

    /s

But that's really how most people seem to see it.
If you try to pass and not force shots this is literally how every game goes.

I love how 1/25 players I play with will actually look to feed me the ball when I'm in advantageous position under the bucket.

I also love how many horrible passes I'll get that end up becoming turnovers that 2K attributes to me. It's hard to hold my teammates accountable for horrible passing when I'm the only one affected by turnovers.

The value of post scorers would definitely go way up if it wasn't so easy to make threes, because post scorers are the most reliable and consistent two-point scorers in this game.

Problem is, there's no reason to base your offensive gameplan around scoring two-pointers when sharpshooters can make 80% of their threes with ease, and all other "non-shooting" archetypes can make 70% of their threes with ease.

2K17's offensive meta is all about who can get the most open limitless range threes and corner threes.

Just ran for 2 hours today and the main gripe is that ppl can guard me and get back to their man fast enough to negate my passing from the post

There's not enough risk for doubling post scorers

This right here is pretty much a summery of everything wrong with the game this year.

Re: For the love of god please learn how to use a post scorer

197/198 people that you play with will immediately run straight on top of you when you get the ball in the post, bringing their man with them.

The lack of value that winning has on this game boggles my mind. Players will only pass when they know that they will get an assist, but this doesn't happen when feeding the post obviously. So the backcourt players will just dribble aimlessly and take a contested shot instead, because HEY AT LEAST YOU HAVE A CHANCE OF EARNING A STAT RIGHT?

The problem isn't so much 2K, it's the community. The harsh double team strips were designed to stop selfish post players. It has backfired ironically, because no backcourt players in 2K are unselfish enough to give the post players spacing. I loved the idea on here, however, that suggested penalties for missing a strip by the player that is being posted.

I have no ******* clue why kids value a 10/27 6 turnover 30 point screenshot over the extra rep, VC, and their record..... I honestly feel bad for bad 2K.. they're fighting a battle that can never be won.

Because he got 30 and probably got a cheesy hopstep green which he recorded for his montage of "sick plays". My favorite thing now if how guys will drop you undeservedly because of Ankle Breaker and then brick the shot and even lose the game but proceed to try and taunt you over the single bail out they got out of the 6 times they got turnovers even if they bricked.

Even if you do have friends, it's hard to find someone willing to adjust to your Archetype.

2k needs to TEACH people how to ADJUST depending on who they're playing with.

Fixing the bad matchmaking system would help too.
Yeah they need to encourage sim play. I can tell by how some ppl play that they've probably NEVER posted up their center in MyCareer.

So guess what? If you've never posted up your teammates in MyCareer you don't know that throwing it to me in traffic screws me over. You don't know that if you post me up and stand Still your man will double me and get back to you because the court is wrong sized.

That's my pet peeve too. Guys who post me up and then stand completely still. Like cut, move, do something!!! People do actually exist on 2k that pass the ball from the post.

I had a walk on game just yesterday where we had like 14 points total midway in the 2nd. I was 1/2 shooting. Other guys are like 2/10 and 0/5 and the only other decent guy was the athletic finisher power forward. So I get on the mic like guys your dribbling ain't working. Play from the post players and we can get y'all open when we get doubled. That somehow turned into an argument and I just flat out say YALL SUCK. Pass the ball down low you dumb butts.

So of course when you make trash guards mad they say "well then you score then bum" and they force feed it to you hoping you'll fail. Well I ended up 15/20 in that gamewith like 8 assists all to the other big man. He shot like 9/9 and didn't miss. Now you'd think that would've ended the trash talk. Nope. Now all they could say was I'm 7 foot 3 I'm SUPPOSED to be balling. lol Bro I hate guards on 2k

I try to cut and find a way to get open without obstructing the post man when he is working but a few of the guys I've played with refused to pass to me once they were posted up even if I got a backdoor or some other easy basket. I've even had guys get mad at me for NOT standing still and letting them work.

Y'all need to be looking to move around the perimeter and not cut into the paint unless it's obvious your teammate (the post scorer) is trying to hit a fade or perimeter shot. It's similar to a playmaker getting the iso - A good one doesn't need a pic and would probably prefer you to space the floor instead.

I'll say it this way. A lot of times I'll get the ball on the block or even the elbow and immediately know that I have the advantage when it comes to putting a move on my isolated defender. I have teammates all the time that ignore what I'm doing during that and will cut when I'm in the middle of a move I'm putting on the isolated defender (post spin, drop step, up & under). This usually results in my defender being behind me but my teammate and his defender being in my face. There are few positive outcomes for me in that regard.

Respect the fact that it's very difficult for an isolated defender to stop a post scorer from muscling his way to the cup without fouling and look to get the dish for the easy midrange/three.

The worst part about all of this,

2K doesn't tell these dudes they are making bad passes. They actually give them a grade boost for a "good pass".

Am I the one at fault because I'm trying to space the floor and the PG threw a stupid pass to me in traffic? Most of the time you never even entirely posses the ball before it's ripped from you, and it's YOUR TURNOVER.

Que the idiot on my team to tell me it's my "hands" rating.

I'm aware when and when not to cut when someone is posted up. But lets say you are posted up just outside the paint on the left and I'm on the right wing. My man is going to play me tight expecting a pass to the three. And usually the defender closets (likely left corner) may come to swipe at you when that happens is when I will cut. And too often I will see guys in this situation not try to pass to anyone but simply fade. And I know the fade is OP but sometimes guys are just to into it I've seen guys in this situation 4-5 possessions in a row and they will try to fade every time and miss or get ripped but the 2 times he hits justifies his choice to him. And if I know you are going to use a Kiev that takes you TOWARDS the paint I won't cut. I had a guy on my Pro-Am team who lived to up and under so I stayed away from the paint but the few PS I see randomly online seem to not know how to do anything but fade, most don't even try to get position they post up anywhere and will catch the ball and not move (do a fake, try to back his man down, anything) for several seconds then just fade. No shimmy or fake just fade.

I agree with everything you said except the part about playmakers using screens. I can get by my man at will but screens get multiple guys involved and force the defense to make decisions. Me and a friend of mine that has a stretch have an unguardable two man game that we use when need a bucket. That thinking is why some teams have a playmaker/point forward dribbling for 20 seconds dribbling while his teammates are just standing in the corner.

Guards definitely need to learn how to use their bigs as more than just for setting screens. I personally love having a elite post scorer as i can jus run the offense and score within the flow while he does damage lol.

I see where you're coming from. I really respect that you take time to at least consider what your teammate is strategically trying to do, even if it makes no sense.

Your example is like a lot of others with any other archetype. The average post scorer does not really use the mechanics of the post effectively because of ignorance or laziness.

In your specific scenario, if you've got one of those guys who just wants to chuck up fades you should probably continue cutting. Start looking for putbacks becuase I'm sure those fades they are throwing up are bricking lol.

That's a HUGE problem too and most likely a huge reason that ppl don't post up. 2k does not directly simulate real basketball. In 2k it's actually set up for bigs to lead the team in assists. We're the only guys who can see the whole court AND focus 100% on making moves AT THE SAME TIME. Also we get rebounds and start breaks. I will accept that there are a lot of crappy bigs who shoot every single time they touch the ball and make everyone look bad.

I can NEVER understand how a big isn't averaging close to 5 assist.

I can NEVER understand how a big isn't averaging close to 5 assist.

good playmakers don't watch their player dribble. They dribble with their eyes up.

One good playmaker who looks to pass first is a post scorer's best friend. You can get some beautiful post entry passes and the angles playmakers can throw alley's from is ridiculous.

I feel like the only reasons we generally lead in assists is because transition offense is so powerful in this game (break starter), in conjunction with the fact that help defenders constantly try to double you more than any playmaker/shotcreator/sharpshooter/etc.

I will admit it's incredibly easy to pass out of the post moves. You can hit a dropstep and pass right out of it like it's nothing. Same thing with the fade.
