I think it's funny you say negative badges because I remember the days of volume shooter. The badge that everyone good tried to avoid. I see that 2k has eliminated that badge or has made it extremely hard to get. That is yet another nod to the trash kids.



But yeah they should one have pro am badges in general. But they should also have negative badges. If you hold the ball for 13 seconds of a shot clock and don't score or get an assist, then you should get a badge that maybe makes you almost automatically get ripped the play after you drain a shot clock.

Or for the kids that play trash D if you leave your assignment and your man scores multiple times you should get a temporary effect where your literally worthless on offense until you play defense

The defens badge is tricky too many times I've good let man score and the works because I tried to play help D or someone across court left their man and 2K decided that it was my job to sprint across court to cover him even though his shot was already up.

I think they should come up with a list of all the little things in basketball as was mentioned by the OP, and allow the user some type of upgrade after doing a set number of these little things. Switching on defense, closing out on open man, waiting patiently for an open shot, setting backdoor screens, taking a charge, things of that nature. Similar to the "Doin Work" meter, but obviously not such a tedious process. Instead of giving us 4 vc for doing this during a game or 8 vc for doing that, put it in a bank and once you reach the set number, you get an upgrade. Maybe a badge or something. This would probably require some advanced tracking of player user movement on the court, but I think it would translate to people actually playing as a team. Also, casual users that don't want to play to play team ball won't be greatly penalized. They just won't get that upgrade for playing team ball.

I disagree.

User skill, play style (even within the same archetype), and attribute placement differentiate two players far more than unrealistic badge boosts.

Anyone can take the time to grind out every badge that the game has to offer. That doesn't make them a better player, in fact in the majority of cases, it makes them worse as they rely and depend on the badges to make up for their lack of basketball IQ and skill.

Didn't say the individual player is comparably "better", just that 2K has chosen to reward individuals that "grind" out the HOF badges with superior animations.

They are there to differentiate and give a "boost" to players that have invested the time into unlocking them offline, and in no way illustrate the actual player's ability.

Some people don't like the badges. I say badges, just like the "abilities" that APF 2K8 had, are what really makes 2K that much better than Madden. Individual player types are legitimately different in this game.

One thing for sure , 2k has got to stop granting bail out fouls for dumb shots. That would force people to pass more.

I think they should do what Madden is trying to do now. Separate "Sim" from "Casual" within the game. Its the only way.

You have people of different age ranges and basketball knowledge who play this game and most of us want to play like minded people. I don't want to be randomly matched up with a 12 year old who isn't interested in playing a serious game.

I want the ability to pick an opponent and to pick the difficulty setting that the game will be played. It's possible. Some of this was already in a 2K game in the past.

If we can make a system where you don't have to play against certain teams you don't want ( Play Now Online) then you can make a system where I can choose difficulty setting and quality opponent.

Like, holy ****. Nobody in the corner or at the wing. Everybody just trying to set a screen so they can get a bump in their grade or something. It's amazing. Then I walk near the fracas and everybody runs in random directions.

Think of what mycareer is, a button spamming (pick pocket, rim protector, ...), score as much and as fast as you can taking terrible shots (deadeye, limitless range, tireless scorer...), hold down the turbo button, put it on rookie, and change game speed to 100.

The badge grind has always been painful. The best way to conquer the game is putting the game on rookie, game speed 100 and play terrible...

Playing MyCareer continues to be necessary to grind for online MyPark and Pro-Am, then there should be a significant reward for playing on harder difficulties so that putting it on Rookie and dropping 100+ per game isn't the best way to grind. Badges requiring you to play terrible (deadeye, etc) should be obtained in practice in a drill or something.

The modes need to punish anyone who ignores a clear open teammate and jacks up a ugly shot. Punish them twice for ignoring the pass and shooting the ball. This lowering their player grade even further close if not directly to a D+ which then makes it eligible for their teammates to vote to kick them out of the game.

That player receiving notice that they have 1 team kick vote once all the other users have voted them. Bringing their rating back to C+ to give them a chance to do better a second time around but if they keep it up they go right back to D+ and will be kicked from the game when this happens the 3rd and final time.

Then people will start thinking about being better team players unless they just trolling in general. Then again if that's how they want to play it 2k should disable online games from them for a full hour (All star teammup included) if they get kicked from a game because of bad behavior 3 times in a day.

It may sound harsh but its a way to eliminate selfish players. If people want to play selfishly 2k should just have a 1 on 1 online feature then those people can do that all they want without worrying about teammates. Heck that could be the only feature open to someone who can't access any of the team up games.

My bad typed it on mobile pretty fast but I was saying I do agree that the 2K community it pretty bad but Fredo is a generally cool guy on and off 2K (I've talked to him on FaceTime before) and is one of the "less cancer" ones.

lol You don't know how many times I have to jump on the mic and explain to kids that if 4 dudes set a screen at once and then roll to the rim at once how do you expect the PG to be able to find anybody with a pass? Its a simple example as to why this teammate grade system and how they make you grind for badges has ruined this game to pure basketball fans.


Im a damn post scorer and I have to be end up being the one who spaces the floor because all these kids setting useless screens just to get their teammate grade up. everyday I have to put my mic on and tell ppl to let me set the screen because I have HOF screen setter and I have to beg shooters to space the floor. Just for them not to listen and clog my paint when everyone rolls to the rim at once like tards. That's something that youd think kids would realize isn't working after 10 straight plays of doing it but nope. Intelligence seems to be rare in walk on and park with randoms.


Trying to explain to randoms how to space the floor is almost as hard as explaining to a PF that cutting straight to the rim every time I get the ball in the post is a bad idea. Especially after iv thrown 3 or 4 passes to him for dunks. They just think teams will let them dunk on every cut all game lol

Agreed w/everything. I think they just need to make the teammate grade punishments/rewards a lot more extreme. Good spacing should be the biggest grade boost, and bad spacing should be the biggest punishment. Even more than turnovers.

Also more boost ideas for defensive end:

Successful hedge
Successful switch
Successful recovery
Successful lane cut-off

If you've played pro am solo and had to carry random teammates, you've had to do all this^^ and you probably ended with a bad grade despite playing well lol

I feel like I explain hedging at least every other game.

Which means they would also take down legit YouTubers like Shakedown, Smooth, IpodKingCarter etc. This is probably not a good idea
