    There's 2 types of Walk on/Pro-Am players

Guys who take criticism well and adapt their game and ball out.

    And

Guys who take criticism extremely harshly and will not adjust their games even if it is clear as day that they should. lol

P.S. This was a grown man btw. Made it a point to tell me constantly he was a Superstar....smh

So im running my fave mode the Walk On Pro Am and I land on a bad team. Like really really bad players. In my mind I feel like I need to recruit at least one of these guys to my side so we have a chance to at least be close in the 4th.(The center eventually came to my side and we took over the 4th).

So we start off with TowJumper running PG. Its clear why he lost his PG duties lol The SG was actually the main guy passing to me in the 1st and I racked up 5 easy dunks quickly. he lagged out. So now the SF smooth talks me into letting him run PG. This dude proceeds to stop every single fastbreak and slow down our offense to the point where we were down 10. It didnt help I gave up 21 to my dude by half. I had 23. So I get on the mic and beg the SF to speed up tempo so other ppl but me can get fastbreak shots. His first excuse was he literallly could not see me. Im like im a bald black dude who is sitting under the rim wide open for a dunk every single play how can you not see me. Then he says hes not running fastbreaks because he doesnt want to get turnovers from people dropping his passes. Then I say hey bum i have literally zero turnovers that excuse doesnt work on me.

Well eventually the truth comes out and the he flat out said he thought I was scoring too many points and he wanted to find other guys.(Which he didnt do. Note he only has 2 assists after running PG for 2 whole quarters)

I say all that to say its funny how me suggesting a simple change to his game caused this. Dont let that score fool you. It was close until about 1 minute left. This dude stopped passing to me for dunks and was talking trash the whole game. Me and the center eventually stopped passing off rebounds and took over.

Now if a dude who is 18/21 was giving me tips on how to play I would listen. Im sorry but cmon man. lol

Come play with my team dawg. I get about 12 assists a game at point guard and I keep the ball out of my hands.

Can't stand that idea of guys scoring too much so their teammates stop letting g them score. Had more than a few games where I'll have like 30+ points in the first half with 1-3 misses sometimes none yet the second half we will blow a 12+ points lead and let the other team comeback because I got 3 TOUCHES.... not shots TOUCHES in the entire second half. And then guys say I was doing too good so they had to give someone else the ball... like what!?! That's exactly what you don't do this logic makes no sense go me.

Re: There's 2 types of Walk on/Pro-Am players

Housh123 are you on #Ps4? Or sqaud plays smart team ball....if u wanna run walk-on with us (and see if you/us could be a good fit)?

Your correct on your thread, but imo there's 2 types of players in walk-on

        1) the team player, who plays pro-am because they like to actually play team/organized ball

        2) the park player who jumps into walk-on "4 dat rep bro" ... who tries to turn every possession into a "and1 mixtape " .... aka plays iso ball or drives to rim against 3-4 opponents, rather then pass to 1 of the 3 WIDE OPEN teammates.

Walk-on is a very frustrating game mode because ....each game varies so much based on your random teammates.

When a random plays smart team ball(passes to an open player, or d oesnt force a shot) .....2k feels like an amazing game!

On the flip side, when you join a walk-on and the center and power forward are clearly buddies (i.e. the center throws a full court inbound pass to his pf friend, instead of either of the guards that are right in front of inbounder...) and causes turnover after unnecessary turnover 😧

(I don't ever quit a game, rather take the L instead of quitting....so smart players make the game great, random/park players.... make it feel like I'm being punished by 2k, because I have front row seats to guys tryna break ankles and attempt 30 3pt attempts a game...smh)

I'm finding this currently. Also floor spacing always is an issue. Unnecessary screens, etc.

Who runs PG is so important in pro am and especially walk on. I rarely walk on to pro am without at least 3 people I know. It's littered with people who want to run point but don't run the position well. It seems people tend to care more about their scoring stats than anything.

I literally made a point guard just for walk ons. He is 87 ovr with 0 badges but i do better than 95% of these **** guards that have their name at PG.

I tell you what's worse is when you join a group of two people and they shoot 2/19 and his mate shoot 1/9 plus his mate managed to get 54 points dropped on him. All that and we still managed to force a OT.

It gets hard to advoid givin them the ball, and when they do they throw up such bad shot. Think the 2/19 guys first 3 shots were all air balls

A lot of it is ego.

I'm kind of glad I put 2k down, for various reasons, but I did enjoy just playing online with people. There were some people who really made me mad, but I pretty much can ball with anyone.

I understand the too many points thing, though, I remember games just getting leak outs or easy scores inside and getting 25 or 30 by halftime and then looking for other people. Mainly cuz I felt at some point people would adapt, and I try to pick out the people who need the ball. If some people don't get the ball, they start calling time outs or quit then there is someone who keeps calling for the ball when you have a cpu (cuz I pass to the cpu, at least as a give and go or to swing the ball.) I try my best not to get into ego battles with people, so I'm cool giving people the ball. I want to see people shine. I want to win, too, but it really is just a game.

It sucks that it's like... 2k is win at basketball but also manage egos. It's like video game psychotherapy, you have to watch each guy and see how they react to each play (even if they aren't on the mic) watch their effort, and constantly keep everything balanced. I mean, it's fun if you look at it that way, but I got tired of the negativity.

I have bad games sometimes, but a lot of the times, it's just people having these meltdowns because they game didn't go the way they wanted it to and screwing up the game, quitting, raging out, just not playing for real after a few possessions. It's like... a lot of these dudes I don't even know what they are trying to accomplish. I would help them if I did. It's like what do you want me to do really. haha. I will do whatever I can to help the team win and make it an enjoyable experience for my team (and make the other team quit... haha.), but it really is toxic. Maybe I'll feel different at some point.

It's half my fault cuz I rarely got on so a lot of my 'cliques' filled up and I had to run with randoms or like one or two other guys. Still, it shouldn't be that way on some online game, but I guess it is on a lot of them. I think 2k takes the cake for passive aggressiveness, tho.

Managing randoms egos sounds no fun. I gotta give you credit. It makes sense for like your actual pro am team that you are constantly playing with, but I'd hate to have to do it on walk on. Then again, I guess that's why I don't play pg

My fav is the 6'4 playmaker who is always im the paint. Constant cutting, and passing up open jumpers preferring to drive against a rim protector.

Rim Protector is such a useless archetype. Dudes in this game take such stupid drives they turn me into a Rim Protector lol

I love little guards that think just because they toasted their defender, im supposed to magically not be in the paint or something lol

Not sure about Rim Protector being the worst (I vote Shot Creators). My ProAm team runs with them sometimes and they're good in the right hands.

Just got out of a Walk On where the SG basically lost us the game 3 of us combined missed 2 shots, he missed 10 (we had an A.I.). We lost by 2.
