NBA 2K18 Video - Developer Diary: The Art Behind the Game

You know when 2k had all those polls on 2kTV I assume that playing with classic teams never ranked very high.

I honestly just want them to make sure every one is on the roster that was on it because the info is so easily available. Anyone not alive probably requires family consent so that's probably why some rosters have so many generics and some players may not want to be in the game or simply never respond to the messages or can't be found. I feel that must be the case for Sasha Pavlovic a guy who STARTED for the Cavs in their finals run and hasn't been on a 2k game in forever

They teased with Giannis showing just his face, they updated Nerlens Noel's hair which looks good.

To be positive though as I've probably been more negative than most so far, this is definitely the best looking 2k game to date. An underrated part of this vid no one is talking about though are the accessories. NO MORE OFF WHITE SOCKS AND ACCESSORIES!

I'm sorry for voicing my opinion. We've known for a good couple weeks that the art has been improved, so nothing new really there. The only thing art wise that I want to know is if they've improved the classic teams. I'm not complaining just stating that it's unlikely we're going to see a MAJOR overhaul with the classic teams (which is what they really need).

We might see improvements, like we've been getting the past few years but the fact that they're not talking about it in the video (which is dedicated to art) just tells me we won't see that huge overhaul that they've been needing the past 4 years.

This video was just about the art improvements of the game.

I would think classic teams would get their own video.

It should be obvious the sacrificed crowd lighting(otherwise known as global lighting) to increase the player detail. Textures, and sweat have been tweaked and/or enhanced and it makes a world of difference as they're surpassing 2k14. It's one of the reasons Live always has such dark arenas yet they're player model have been more graphically appealing.

Yep. I think I'm fine with it too considering how much better the game and player builds look this year. I'm seriously thinking about buying a 4K set to enjoy this thing. Naturally, I want it all but I understand that that's just not realistic. The game has been like 50gb the last few years, theres only so much space. IF these MP CAP changes apply to all our created players it'd be well worth the loss with lightening, IMO.

Art team definitely stepped it up this year.



Seems like we won't have any greyish white looking accessories.

Like someone mentioned, I would love to be able to adjust how jerseys fit on certain players.

Speaking of jerseys, I think it would be nice as hell if jerseys became untucked. Untucked jersey Kyrie is like a super hero lol.

Graphics look sick!! I'm sure the reason they only showed some players faces and not the rest of their bodies is because Nike hasn't revealed their jerseys yet. Dope nonetheless... especially the beads(yes beads!) of sweat and even details to lonzo ball's legs (knees... skinny).
