Shout out to 2001 Kobe Bryant for achieving swagger levels previously unseen, calling out his windmill tip dunk en route to the hoop.

Apparently Jamario Moon's MyTeam card is just Derrick Jones Jnr's player model LMAO, yep I guess we can confirm they just import a cyberface onto random players and call it a day

Depends on the gameplay really, dude. Even though I'm a Suns fan, it was always about MJ for me, anyways.

Think I got to the point where I was sick of editing rosters/ratings/gear/tendencies year after year. I just don't have the time for it anymore.

Still awesome to see you guys showing the legends love - dedication right there!

It’s honestly embarrassing how lazy they got with the new legends. I have Kenny Walker in MyTeam and he’s just Aaron Gordon with a different cyberface. Same accessories and animations. If this is getting too hard for Stauffer on his own, maybe they should hire another person to do part of the rosters.

Seriously, hire somebody from OS or NLSC to work on legends for a day and all the problems would be gone

I see it as a bit of a glass-half-full situation. As in, it kind of feels like it could have been a situation where circumstances dictated that either we get guys like Kenny Walker added on a whim with edits needed or we don't get him at all. I'm glad they at least provide a lot of the clay so we can do the molding.

That said, I am a little bothered by the signature shot switcheroo, where some legends had their shots altered because the numbers for corresponding shot types changed.

Me too. I can't stand anymore buying a basketball game and spend weeks or even months editing legendary players. I'd rather spend my money with games like Red Dead Redemption that you just play it right away and have fun without the need to edit a thing.
The last NBA 2K I bought was 2k17 and I thought, at the end of the day, that the gameplay was trash and prevented me from having fun.

Agreed. After editing things religiously since 2k7, every year that rolled round I just started dying inside thinking about all the work I'd need to put in for the latest release. Months on end of tweaking, testing, getting attires right, creating shoes, fixing rosters, tendencies, sig shots yada yada - it was a constant battle every year that costs me far too much time.

With that said, I haven't even touched NBA 2k16 in over a year. Kinda fell out of touch with it all after being so disappointed with 2k17 & 18. Never even bothered with 19, nor tried this years game either.

2K18 was probably the worst game on this gen in my opinion. It really discouraged a lot of people from future games. It’s a shame because 19 was SO much better than 18, but people were already turned off from the game to care

So in a nutshell how good IS 2K20? Especially for a legends head like me? Am I truly missing out here?

IMO, I think this is the best 2K game we've had.. Maybe especially for legends since so many guys have been updated, so much more customization as far as signature styles, custom short length and accessory colors, etc.. I don't think I've played a 2K where so many of the older guys played as much like themselves out of the box as this year.. In the past it always felt like Jordan looked like Jordan on the court, and outside of a few signature animations he was the only one. To me this goes a lot deeper, having CPU Scottie hound guards at half court without anybody making him do it, Magic's dribbling style and ability to be a downhill freak, Kobe has so many little traits that really give him that flair he had. Post play is definitely better than it has been the past 2-3 games, speedy guards play better than they probably ever have, off-ball movement is actually in this game, there is a badge to separate elite off ball movers from normal players as well, in the past they had no value in 2K.. Just a lot of upgraded details.

Obviously there is still lots of work for a lot of guys to really get them right, especially lower tier guys, but to me it's worth it to put the time into this game because no other 2K game I've played can distinguish the playing styles for past players the way this game does.

Edit: Also just add in that this is probably the best CAPs have ever looked as well, since the skin textures and lighting is so improved over last year. So that helps with classic rosters as well.

I assume this is the right thread to ask. Anyone know if there is a legends/classic roster out on PS4? What I'm mainly looking for is a roster that adds missing players to their respected teams (Sheed on 04 Pistons, Ginobili on the Spurs, etc). It's a bonus if the roster has other features like additional teams, shoes/accessory updates, player likeness updates, etc.

I know it's still early so such a roster might not have been created yet but figured I'd ask.

This is how I feel too. Jordan actually plays like Jordan when I play offline vs cpu. He torches me and pippen too. I love the sig animations for the legends and love the face renders that have been added and touched up by razor. This is the best the game has played and looked in my opinion. And I play retro rosters mostly in my league offline. Loving this year so far

To piggyback off of this, I agree in my opinion this is the best 2k since maybe 2k12 in terms of legends and signature style for the legends. There are a ton of signature animations and celebrations/playstyle. The immersion is easily the best it's been since 2k12. The level of customization options adds to that significantly, since you have the ability to edit almost everything from short length to accesory colors, there arw a wealth of retro jersey options and there is also a decent amount of retro sneakers as well. In addition the legends definitely got significant attention in terms of player models. Some of them are on par with current scanned player models and a few of the long time horrible player model renders have been improved to the point of being near spot on.

From a gameplay standpoint, the realism is on point and the players feel like themselves and that extends to the legends as well. I have had some great moments so far using the 90s Bulls teams, the 95 Magic, the 2007 Cavaliers, and the 2001 Lakers. Personally I enjoyed 2k18 quite a bit aside from the legend gameplay which I thought took a step back, I disliked 2k19 enough not to buy it after renting it, but 2k20 in my opinion is the best in overall experience.
