Chuck said he’s more concerned about them paying the older retired players more money for their likenesses. I actually agree. I just wish they made roster share cross platform. It would be a non issue if we could use PC rosters on console. I miss the days of REDitor.

That feature in wwe 2k would definitely be a life saver for those that customize these rosters. Because all i need is tendencies and signatures. Then i would definitely pay 2k and play 2k21. But as of right now im sticking to 2k20Comment

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
I know we've discussed this a bit here and heard him speak on this multiple times over the years, but this is about the clearest explanation we're going to get from Charles Barkley on why he won't agree to have his likeness included in 2K. Many of us have heard the gist before but for those who haven't:
Long story short:
1. He wants $1 million yearly to go to retired players (focusing on guys who came before the multi-millions era).
2. 2K asks each year. He says no each year.
3. He says 2K makes $300 million and he's surprised some of the other guys accept the chump change offered.
4. "I'd be happy to do the game... if they helped the retired players."Comment

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
For sure.
Unfortunately, I see 2K's potential conundrum here. If they make a one million dollar exception for Chuck, even if there's a charitable element to it, I can see how that'd lead to his contemporaries wanting to renegotiate their terms en masse, particularly after they were likely told deals fell on a pre-determined scale.
I'm sure 2K could handle a one million dollar donation. But I don't think they'd be able to provide everything they could on the classics front if classic players began using that million dollar number as the new negotiating reference point.Comment

They just need to make the game cross platform and all of our offline roster related complaints would be quelled in general.Comment

Everyone eating that Chuck video up.
I'll just say his reasoning has grown to be more and more "noble" over the years. Ultimately, it's up to him. I don't blame 2K for their stance at all though.Last edited by The 24th Letter; 09-12-2020, 03:32 PM.Comment

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
Meh, we've discussed his exclusion here for years and he's been consistent with his messaging for at least five years now. This is what he said in 2016:
What I said to them was we as players have not done enough for the retired players association. We told the 2K people that our job is to take care of the older players. I don’t even want any money. I said, “Let’s come up with an amount of money for you to give to the retired players union.” They said, “Well we get all the guys the same.” And I said, “Well, we ain’t all the same.” I told them they make a gazillon dollars on that game. They said, ‘Well we are not going to do that [give money].’ So I’m not giving them the right to use my license until they come up with a fair number. I’m not trying to be a pig or greedy. They should donate the money to the retired players. If they would give a million dollars a year to retired players union, they can use my likeness.”
If you're an NBA 2K18 fan, you're pumped for the addition of All-Time teams for each of the league's 30 franchises. What you may be disappointed by is your All-Time squad having some glaring omissions -- no Charles Barkley on the 76ers? No Rasheed Wallace on the Piston
Still, as I alluded in my last post, I'm guessing 2K's doing whatever they can and they likely know they can't overstep for Charles because it'll open up Pandora's Box as it pertains to classic contract negotiations. Right now they've got 96 percent of all the classic legends they want at their current price point. Probably wouldn't be a sound business decision to overpay for Chuck and possibly signal to all other stars that they should bump up their asking price too, as paying everyone a ton more wouldn't be sustainable.Comment

buried under Google results of his last 2-3 public comments on it are comments from someone directly tied with 2K saying he was asking for an exclusive deal comparible with Jordans, and his original answer on Inside The NBA of his in game absence- "They arent paying enough".
One of these days I'll go OS deep diving for it...
and hey, maybe his stance has changed and now truly "doesn't want a dime" in lieu of a more noble cause.
I just remember where we started.Comment

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
I find it funny that we are moving into another generation of 2k and we still have some poor last-last gen legend conversions. I would be very shocked if those legends get updates if they didn't get any during the 7ish years of this generationComment

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
Thats false. Barkley already told 2k to donate a million yearly to the retired players association and i think reggie has a bone to pick with 2k for what they did to his sister from the past.Comment
