despite how great a job 2k did with jordan this year, his pull-up jumper is awful. can't get any kind of a drifting shot going for s***. nor any of those one dribble pull-ups out of a triple threat. they're slow & weak and create zero space. can't have it all i guess, but this was a big part of his game.

The era-specific playstyle seems to be as legit as advertised. I didn't even realize what was happening at first until I was a couple games in and was like, "Wait... I've only taken, like, four threes and all my sets are freeing up mid-range looks, cuts, or post opportunities."
I have to believe there's an amazing level of replay value here, as one could theoretically watch the game change and morph as you progress from Era to Era.
Also, I don't know if this is true for every era but I can say that in the 80's, you're liable to get a handful of chirping players (if not altercations) just about every game if you let the post-whistle stuff play out. There's definitely a grittier brand of basketball being played here.
On the flip side, I began a 2003 Era to test some things out and was posterized harder than I've ever been in a simulation basketball game like two minutes in, a total contrast to what I'd been rocking in '83.Last edited by VDusen04; 09-18-2022, 12:05 PM.Comment

It’s not just the plays themselves. It’s the movement coding as well. You can run the same play in Play Now situations and they will generate more 3s than in myEra modes.

Idk if this has been mentioned but I also posted this in The Little Things thread. Michael Jordan's signature sneaker for the 1991-92 season was the Air Jordan VII Hare's. In the 1991 MyEra season, Jordan wears the Air Jordan VI Carmine's--the shoe he began the season wearing. A very little thing that 2K got correct.Comment

Playing in the 80's is so weird. You gotta have a different strategy cause whatever you were doing with Lebron isn't going to fly.The era-specific playstyle seems to be as legit as advertised. I started in 1991 and was hitting tons of mid range and post shots, playing real slow with lots of fouls going on but as i got closer to 1998, I would hit more threes and do more dunks.
However during a 94 game between the Hornets/Bulls, I had Johnny Newman do an off the glass self alley oop on a fastbreak. That was pretty funny. I can just imagine that one being on NBA Inside Stuff.Last edited by Old School Fool; 09-18-2022, 03:59 PM.Comment

I feel like Johnny Newman going off the board to himself would have caused a firestorm in '94, playing right into the prima donna, look-at-me criticisms of the time.Playing in the 80's is so weird. You gotta have a different strategy cause whatever you were doing with Lebron isn't going to fly.

And yeah, I'm kind of really digging early 80's basketball. This mode just has so many layers to it. Like, here I am in 1983 playing through the league as is, with its already established stars, mid-range J's, post play, etc. But then I look toward scouting for the '84 draft and it's wild knowing how much the league's about to change. MJ, Hakeem, Chuck, Stockton all coming down the pipe, changing the entire landscape. This could be an amazing experience.Comment

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
I'd have to dig into the Rockets situation firsthand. I didn't realize their early 90's court wasn't accurate either.
That being said, I don't know, I'm just having a hard time mustering up the motivation to grab my pitchfork over the lack of a teal Pistons court or inaccurate Rockets floor in the face of everything they provided.
I'm pretty sure I've already said this but the scope of this mode was so massive that I never had any doubt that there'd be some big gaps, some understandable, some seemingly unexplainable. And to pick them apart for the pieces they couldn't get to despite the massive amount of details and work they did provide just isn't something super high on my to-do list.
Thank you for saying this. I feel the same way, we have to appreciate the work that has been done. It feels like sometimes people are just focusing on negative and wanting something to be angry about versus appreciating what we do have.
Luckily, we can swap and update the courts and jerseys to our liking, of course that doesn't come without some type of immersion issue but the point is we have an option.
I hope 2k can allow people to understand that they cant just simply add in artwork cause they want to add artwork or players just for people. Paperwork needs to be filled out to have it in the main game. Jerseys have to have be licensed to them, something I personally didn't know.
I'm wondering id they garner more licensing through the year, are they going to add to the game on an art standpoint? or would it go towards next year.Comment

Update: On the Series X, you just have to press X on any of the menus within the play now section.Comment

While I agree it’s not a major, major issue…the licensing is already secured by 2k. These courts are IN the game, just not corresponding to the appropriate team. It’s more of an error or oversight, So I’m hoping they can update in in the future.

Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
I think there's two separate conversations happening here.
I think there may be some courts in 2K that just are not applied to the correct years, so some are saying it shouldn't take much to at least get the years right.
I think that's a separate issue from courts that are missing from the game altogether.Comment
