Anyway, I was chatting with someone about video game graphics from the '90s, back when I first got my start, and we both sort of collectively gawked at how crazy graphics have become when you hold the two eras up side by side. I'm pretty sure 1995 me would have completely lost his mind if he'd seen where all this video game technology was going.

Every now and again, I just find it refreshing to gain some perspective on how far we've come while marveling at what we're capable of today.
I think it's funny how realistic we used to think some of the sports video games looked back then. Everyone's probably heard of someone's --"insert relative here"--walking into the room in 2001 while you were playing a video game and said-relative thinking it was a "real" game on tv.

When my cousin brought his Sega Genesis over and fired up Lakers vs Celtics and the NBA Playoffs, I was intrigued just how much graphics had changed since my days of playing Double Dribble. Classic rosters allow us to relive those days of playing as and against the teams we grew up watching. NBA 2K's The Jordan Era is kind of like playing EA's NBA Playoffs series with better graphics. I ain't done with the '90s.

Is the alamodome court in the rule change at the start of the 93-94 in MyEra in NBA 2k24?

It really is crazy thinking back. A buddy of mine and I stayed up all night playing GBA basketball on the C64 in 1987. It was only 2v2 and the players had first names of NBA greats and last names of the developers. Magic Lyndon, Jerry Orr, Larry Berg, to name a few. When Lakers V Celtics came out it blew our minds.

No, there's only changes for the Bucks, Mavs, and Nuggets in the 1993 offseason.

I think it was NBA Showdown where the back of the box listed how authentic the player models were. Kevin Johnson’s goatee. Horace Grant’s goggles. Barkley’s (!!) dunks. I used to get so immersed in the games back then. I love the game today but there was something special about getting a USA Today & going over the rosters to make sure they were accurate.

Those features were listed on the back of the "_____ vs _____ and the NBA Playoffs" games (Barkley's monster dunk, Jordan's air reverse layup, Malone's in-your-face-slam, etc). I remember seeing that on the back of the box, too, and buying it the same day (at EB Games maybe?)

But speaking of NBA Showdown...you could exploit the same area behind the 3-point line as you could in Double Dribble; I fondly remember averaging over 45ppg with BJ Armstrong almost exclusively shooting 3's.

Thank God for community creations. I found the spurs alamodome court through the creations. 2k dropped the ball literally from a immersion perspective because the spurs opened the alamodome prior to the 94 season.

SN: I wish I could hit the jackpot so I can help 2k get the rights for Barkley, Miller and Rasheed Wallace.
