Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)

I've got to be honest, from what I'm reading and having seen so far, I've got a sinking feeling that I'll be wasting my money in a couple of hours.

Some of the legends may look great, and it's cool we've been given a whole host of new classic players and teams, but if Michael Jordan plays no different than say, a Penny Hardaway, then really - what's the point? Changing tendencies will only marginally contribute to a fix. It's not gonna give MJ a palm fake, or Mutumbo a finger wag, where as you've got Steph Curry sitting pretty with his nice mouth guard animations and Lebron with his signature celebrations etc.

I understand the whole 'Just be grateful you have these teams and players at all' argument, I really do, but at what point do we stop being complacent and actually say to 2k - will you just put some elbow grease into this and stop half assing it? In 2011/2012 on lesser machines, 2k were giving us legendary players with signature styles of their own, and accompanying courts which looked and sounded pretty accurate in relation to the time period - here we are 5 years removed, on a far more powerful set of consoles and all we seem to have is generic players, with tacked on legend cyberfaces. No sig skills. Dead arenas, nothing to differentiate one player form the next.

Nitpicking? Sure, but as I mentioned, it's now becoming increasingly frustrating to see year after year pass, and things that made these classic teams special, get removed with every new iteration of the game, instead of ADDING to them.

I agree it's frustrating. It's one thing to quit adding legend content, but I just don't get why they would remove things. It must have something to do with the Jordan emphasis in 2k11 and 12. It's almost as if there was something in his contract that stated they had to remove certain signature elements. There also was some speculation back in 2K12 that the Legend emphasis was 2K's way of mitigating the effects of the lockout. Who knows? On a positive note, they did give us some better retro shoe options this year.

Thanks for that English screenshot mate. However dave im confident that we can make a good job with signature accessories and ratings with the legends. I under stand what you say but im still positive and i cant wait to start editing. We need a sign style legends thread also.

2k got lazy with the new legends. Kerry Kittles is basically Afflalo (he has his shot animation and arm sleeve). Stephen Jackson just has Rudy Gay's animations. baron davis has Lillard's shot.

i like that they did this for the simple fact that we the players aren't locked in a certain brand allowing us to have the ability to edit & switch between brands. Kobe, for example, went from adidas to nike & wore some jordans in between during his career.. although we have to do some tedious editing, i appreciate the flexibility we have in editing

I see similar arguments about Madden. I think the emphasis is so much focused online play that everything else suffers a bit. That's what's most important now. I got on Twitch to see if I could find some gameplay with NBA teams. The majority of what I saw was streetball hoop. I think the most important feature now is putting yourself in the game. Nothing wrong with that but less attention is going toward classic NBA player individuality. I'm assuming current players are solid. Fortunately, 2k provides editing of players so that should help some.

I say all this as someone who's only played last gen 2k. The classic players weren't that bad on older consoles. This will be my first year seeing what current gen 2k offers.

So the two new 90s teams they added, heat and Knicks have baggy shorts. What a huge waste of a classic team.

WHATTTT??? How can they get THAT wrong???????? Do these folk pay ANY attention to detail, at all??? They should have shorts equal to that of the 98 Bulls in game.

I'm actually afraid to put the game in the PS4 when I get home, I may go nuclear. Small stuff to some folk, HUGE to others.

It just gets worse and worse......I'm actually afraid to put the game in the PS4 when I get home, I may go nuclear. Small stuff to some folk, HUGE to others.

I convinced myself that 2k was going to let us create uniforms with shorter shorts(90s length shorts), so this whole time I pictured myself editing every 90s team and making a ton of 90s teams uniform and courts to perfection, editing shoes etc. DL some community created Barkley and Reggie and just be in heaven. But that wasn't the case.

I haven't checked shoes to see if we got more retros, but I'm pretty disappointed in lack of attention given to classic teams. The "16 new classic teams" seems like so long ago now. Hah

Couldn't you do all that in My GM/My League? Or were you hoping to do it in order to use in play now type modes?

Can't edit short length, as far as I know, which is a deal-breaker for me.

Yep, 100% agree. Absolutely zero point even attempting rebrands when you can't even give classic teams the correct short length.

I just don't understand how difficult it is - pc modders do this stuff for recreational use, yet a paid company can't give us the ability to choose from short or long shorts or even sock colour??

                              C'mon.

I know I'm coming off as 'entitled' here but you could alter all of this stuff last gen using RedMC - A simple change of code had you changing the entire team's uni's/sock colours/short length etc etc - how hard can it be for 2k to have these editable options for us, when we KNOW they're in the game.

I understand not giving current teams really short shorts option because they'd have to redo shorts for that fit. But to give us mid 90s teams with baggy shorts is really bad. I was hoping we had short shorts option in create a team, and it would've been a game-changer. We'd have a ton of classic teams we would be able to recreate and just throw in players from All-Time teams to fill out roster. I really wanted to make Eaton Jazz and Suns and Pacers. Oh well..
