HOF was easier to win this year, but it was far from fun. Basically you just spam the paint and get layups or foul calls. Occasionally kick the ball out for threes. Play at a super fast pace. Can't really shoot midrange because no contested shots go in.

The scores usually end up 140 something to 130 something on 12 min quarters. And you shoot 20 more free throws than the other team.

CPU runs are too predictable. They're all scripted. And there's almost nothing you can do to stop them.

It's a brick fest from outside the paint.

And the Milwaukee Bucks are really freakin good.

It's really repetitive. HOF sliders are the way to go, but it was impossible to perfect in 2k17. And when you got close, they'd mess with the shooting and everything would be thrown off

That's how I play as well when I play against other people online and I'm used to 20 digit leads. When I play hof, the cpu just gets away with so much stuff no matter how good you defend it. And my open shots like threes will miss no matter how close I am to the timing.

Haha you know what I mean. 20 point lead.

Actually I just tried HOF again but I picked a weaker team (Miami Heat instead of warriors). Definitely did way better without Durant or Curry shooting like crazy all the time.

Hate to be "that guy" but didn't that happen this year or last in a regular season game? And I mean you were in the Finals so was it really difficult enough? Not to say you should've lost but isn't that was makes it special when you win? And even so you "lost an OT Finals game", does that mean you WON the NBA Finals? Meaning you probably got the 1-3rd seed, won most of your playoff games AND won the NBA Finals... and "there was that one game you lost cause..." sounds like there was a lot of games you should've lost but didn't because it wasn't hard/sim enough.

NOT saying it "needs to be harder" but we aren't supposed to cruise our way to a title right? And, what year was it? 1st or 2nd? Overall? What else played into that?

Hey dude, no worries about anyone asking me anything. On the face of it, my post (incorrectly on my part) made the assumption that people automatically knew what craziness used to occur. I'm talking about the HoF crazy circus shots that used to exist where there was no defence that could ever be played in order to stop those points raining down on you. That was a game 7 of the finals in my first current gen career. I still have fond memories of the game (i still load it up and play a couple of games from time to time) but anyone who played HoF in those days knew full well what the CPU was about to do.

I have no issue losing games at all, but the way 2k used to go about making that happen would be insane. Admittedly, beating the old HoF CPU was much more of an accomplishment.

To expand, and what makes this version of HoF more enjoyable to play against is the fact the craziness has been toned down. I think you misunderstood one aspect of my intentions; beating the cpu easier in today's game is not the subject of my approval, it's not, and unless you played MyCareer HoF in 14/15 vs now, then it's really difficult to explain. In short, it's not about difficulty, it's about the CPU bs.

I've just tried to find some YT clips to show the sort of things I'm talking about, but not much 14 content still around these days.

Maybe Jrocc will see this and post as I know he's been a HoF career player in the past, and maybe hustle westbrook too.

1. Most of my hof 12 min cpu games the cpu does not score 100 points so its possible to have realistic stats. Same goes for user v user.

2. The cpu does alot of bs on HOF but it is mostly on the boards and inside the three point line.

3. The contest animations by the cpu on the perimeter makes it extremely difficult to get good looks on the perimeter.

4. The cpu plays way to aggressively on the perimeter and gives up the paint.

Many of the games can be fun.

Playing MyCareer HOF after some of the patches actually made that fun for me again because it was as realistic as you could get score and shooting wise even if not completely perfect. The only real issue was that your shot timing has to be absolutely perfect if you're not a shooter archetype or else you're going to have a hard time hitting jump shots.

I wasn't winning every single game but I also wasn't losing every single one, so it was a fun balance of not knowing what to expect. I'm a fan of running plays a lot of possessions down and not taking every shot so I think that helped slow the pace down and make it realistic as well. Some games you had to push the pace when down to bring it back but that's realistic to real basketball too to try and get a run going. Never in any other 2K could I play on HOF because it felt just ridiculous but this was the year I felt that I could hang to play on it even without being able to make jumpers.

For me i've hated playing on hall of fame for years...This year is no different. I mainly play mycareer stuff trying to get my players to hall of fame. Obviously hall of fame grinds the most VC so i do that. It's waaaaaaaay easier to score in 2k17 than it has been in any game since on hall of fame and your teammates aren't complete idiots. The CPU doesn't make every shot on the planet either. Ratings actually mattered for once. It was an improvement...Somewhat


Now the negatives:In 2k17, All I did was speed boost screens and get cheezy layups and drawing fouls for easy free throws. Abusing the wonky and extreme defense.
The AI defense is so insane and precise that they will literally try to kill you while driving to the basket and bring half the team to cut you off to the lane,so you can drive and kick to an open a man all day long. I've got so many blocking fouls and shooting fouls its ridiculous..I've gotten half the team fouled out by the third quarter because of straight up blocking fouls. The perimeter defense needed to be toned down...At least a little.
