    Re: New CAP system

I'm not one to complain too much, even ended up embracing last years CAP system, but the skin textures in the game look really bad. Why they are seemingly going the route of making everyone look over-animated, over-cartoony, is pretty mind blowing for an audience that I would assume want a more life-like rendition. Maybe they had to go this route to get the animations needed for the whole MyCareer story lines, but it's hurting the rest of the game if that's the case.

I'm sure during gameplay they will still look and move/react great, that's always been a strength of 2K and why so many people gravitated towards that franchise, but up close shots I am FAR from impressed by.. And the CAP isn't looking much more promising that last year, with still horrible hair/facial hair I'm sure.

      New CAP system

I get that people want more realistic player models, I’m among them, but I’d rather they flesh out gameplay issues first and then focus on player models and faces.
I would even put fixing atmosphere and crowd before players close up faces.

On the court, especially in broadcast camera, many people can’t tell if it’s real or a video game.

Agreed. I don't like that the graphics have been downgraded at all, but gameplay is more important and so is arena atmosphere. The crowd, arena atmosphere and sound in general is in desperate need of some fixing as it's killing the immersion.

Do not give them any excuses. It's not a question of either or...we need both. Just like with 2K18's CAP system. Had people said, "I'd rather they fix gameplay before they fix the CAP system", we wouldn't have the new system that is on 2K19.

Game play sure, but I can't imagine the atmosphere will ever be placed above graphics, game-play, and all their side modes that get people to pay for VC.

Don't get me wrong crowd atmosphere is indeed awful in this game, but it's deservedly most likely low on their list of must fix upgrades. Think about how many people play this game without even acknowledging the sound. I myself play 2k on VERY low volumes all the time because I'll often play for a bit before bed when my wife is already asleep. I'm sure others play it low when their parents are asleep, kids are asleep, they are listening to music, playing online and chatting through the headset, etc.

True, but it'd be nice to see them use some of that VC money to make necessary upgrades to the game though...especially something like audio, crowd, atmosphere, vibrant and varying commentary, cut scene edits that don't have you looking at the back of someone's feet in the crowd, better replay timing, etc.

The game is dope, it used to be KKRRRRAAAAAKK tho.

OJ I agree 100%. I prefer a more photorealistic style . It kind of bugs me .

I don't think we can take this as definitively bad though. For years, guys on YouTube have shown the ability to make players look better than the default versions via CAP. Sometimes even better than guys that were actually scanned. I remember making a perfect Lonzo Ball, but I needed a tutorial to do a decent Harry Giles.

I think CAP is one of the things you actually have to try out to judge firsthand. Prior to 2K18, I've always made a better version of my face using the sliders than scanning, so who knows.

Yea you can’t really trip off of this.

True test of the tool will be when creators get their hands on it.

hey you guys know how live has a more cartoony look but the faces still look spot on? i think it would cool if 2k went away from the photorealistic look and went more towards that look. then when on the floor with real nba players, the created players wouldn’t stand out so much.

lol i know what i’m trying to say but it doesn’t make sense when i read it back. but y’all follow me?

Lol, I think I know what you're saying. I think that's why 2K implemented the new CAP system, so created players wouldn't stand out as much if I'm not mistaken. Again, I think it's more about the skin textures because 2Ks face scans look much better than Live, but Live players overall look more detailed.

It's the same preset faces as 2K18 mixed in with some touches from their new number sculpting sliders.
