Re: read this before picking which version you preorder.
this is why I made this thread...people seriously do not understand how this works with the preorder versions! I will break it down for you.
$60 base version =5k VC
$100 legends edition = 100k total VC
$150 legends GOLD edition = 250k Total VC
Buying VC directly inside 2k game gets you more VC than if you spent the extra $40 for the legends edition or the extra $90 for the Legends Gold editions.
$40= 150k VC vs 100k VC in legends bonus
$90= 350k VC vs 250k vc in legends gold bonus.
I can not spell it out for you guys any more clearly than that...
if you do not care about the my team bonus...only the vc...you get more vc going this route!!#1 Laker fan

Re: read this before picking which version you preorder.
the prices from 2k17 should be valid this year, I dont think people would take a virtual currency price hike kindly. i mean its fake money as it is anyway lolFollow me on twitter @schnaidt1 and Youtube @Sim Gaming Network

Re: read this before picking which version you preorder.
Considering the price for all of VC packages has low key gone up every year AND you get less VC on top of that I wouldn't put it past 2K to hike prices or severely nerf the amount per package... idk if y'all play GTA but this is the same parent company behind Shark Cards in GTA where 100$ gets you 3 mill in a game where outfits alone in a single DLC is upwards of 60 mill.

The OP is right if the prices for VC stays the same. I am doing what I did last year. Preorder and then buy some VC.
I can't careless about the MyTeam stuff. The Shaq jerseys would be cool, but it's not worth it for me.
I agree lol. They are tripping. It's ALOT of customers that doesn't realize they are paying extra money for no reason. I know a lot of guys that had planned on preordering those Shaq versions and I know for a fact they don't care about MyTeam. Just the VC for their MyPlayer. I've been telling them it's much better to just preorder the regular version and just buy VC. So I know it's a lot of other customers that don't realize that.

Just don't buy it. Everybody here can read. You're prefacing this as some profound source of knowledge that's hidden from the community and it's not. It's general information. We know exactly what's included in every edition of the game. I play MyTeam more than any other mode, so yes I bought the $150 version, but even if I didn't, maybe I'm a Lakers fan, or just like the color gold. I'm the one who goes to work everyday of the week so if I want to spend my money on that, mind your business?I like playing with unselfish, High IQ, and competitive people.

Re: read this before picking which version you preorder.
I already knew all this, and pre-ordered the PS4 base version a few days ago.
I'm not paying all that extra money for a few virtual jerseys and cards I'll lose in a year.
I rarely play against other humans because of my very slow connection, thus I focus on franchise and MyCareer, in that order.
Now, if we COULD carry this stuff over year-to-year, I'd consider going gold. But no. No use for a fake jersey.
Played 2K11 online lately? Exactly.
People don't go back to that game for the online.
Online will die.
They go back for the GAMEPLAY.Comment

Great thread op. Some of these dudes have the "defend 2k at all cost" syndrome.
I was cool with the preorder system for the extra vc but the fact that the price for everything has gone up is disgusting. The more they make, the more greedy they get.

Re: read this before picking which version you preorder.
If you only play my career and only need vc to upgrade your attributes then def buy the base version and buy vc separately.
If you are into myteam and primarily play it going into the long run, then I think it's def worth buying the legend gold edition if you don't mind dishing out money. On top of the extra 250k vc you also get 30 additional myteam packs weekly. Each pack costs about 5500 vc so 30 packs is about 150k+ vc. Not to mention you also get ruby Shaq and ruby dwade and they are a dynamic duo boosting Shaq to an amethyst overall. That's a pretty big edge at the launch of the game for at least a month to two months if not more which is when other amethysts start getting released.
Given all those points, it def makes sense to get the legend gold edition because you do get equivalent amount of vc for the extra money you drop in terms of packs and vc combined. And you also get Shaq and dwade if you care for that.

Jumpers and dribble animations used to be free...and I believe in 2k16 they started charging VC for those. I am also pretty sure the full cost of upgrading your player to its max also got more expensive.
This year they start charging VC for haircuts, and we aren't sure yet how progression works and how much it will cost to upgrade a player to whatever the initial max is.
Makes me wonder what they got in store for next year.Comment

Re: read this before picking which version you preorder.
At the same time, 2K doesn't seem to waste the revenue more VC brings in. They're always innovative, so we see things like an open world in a sports game. Any other sports game even close to that? So I don't mind payin a little extra when the amount of stuff in the game is big.Last edited by Keith01; 09-05-2017, 03:59 AM.Comment
