Yikes. And of course nothing this significant has ever been addressed by patch

I play a lot of F2P games and never understand when people defend crappy things just because they're free. If there are guys unhappy with the prelude, that's their opinion, its not a fair to say there is no complaining if something is free.

It's also not fair to say anyone who isn't complaining is a fanboy, and that by NOT being angry about the length of the prelude they are in the wrong. Which is what a few of these guys are acting like. I really don't care about the preludes length, because frankly, the game comes out in a week. I'm not so impatient that I'll let a bad demo ruin my mood. And I certainly won't be complaining about how 2K is a bad company because of a lame demo.

I think the strength attribute this year will be big. My low strength guy was getting pushed around. Also, kyrie's release is wet

NBA 2K18 The Prelude Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

Just finished prelude and I'm impressed. Smoothness was a great word for gameplay

Also I saw no warps at all. Like not a one. I picked a 6' 11 post scorer balhandler and my dribbling was pretty darn fast. I was surprised that was the base at a 55. I can't imagine how crazy it'll be fully maxed. Cheese? Blocks and steals seemed harder so if you want them pick a defensive archetype.

Brick walls gone, no warps, fun post game was a plus too. The learning curve on the post game will be large I can tell. A lot of guys are going to get scared about jumpers and pick post players and a lot of guys will be worthless because they don't have the patience to find a GOOD post shot. Turnarounds register as wide open shots 100% if you don't jump so keep that in mind when guarding post scorers next week.

Ummmm have to gives props to defense again. Poor drives are punished with animations that make you stumble so if you constantly try trash drives your going to bog your offense down a lot

Also one thing I haven't seen mentioned here at all I don't think is the court actually seemed correctly sized. Back to the basket scorers will love that for passing. Another huge thing for post scorers that will most likely apply in the park. MISMATCHES are alive and well in this 2k. The few times in the scrimmage I somehow got Derrick Rose switched on me I literally had to do NOTHING but go straight up. Bigs VS guards will be good night this year. Last year you had to drop step them or get a dunk animation to abuse guards vs bigs. But in real life when you have a short guy on you you just go straight up. I'm glad 2k made mismatches like that. If you run park and you run a 6' 2" PG at center you should pay for it.

Now I have to imagine it works the other way around too but in 2k17 guards could always abuse bigs by running sideways so it's good to see 2k evened the playing field

P.S. I didn't press reach much but the few times I did get a reach in foul it seemed like it took a while teammate grade bar from me. When I got shooting fouls it seemed like the hit was less than reach fouls.

Also I think having HOF post badges is going to be very important because of the correctly sized court and reach spam being killed, bigs are going to have a lot of space and time to work the post. After playing this I have to revisit my stance on making a pure post scorer. I didn't anticipate the court would be right sized

            I love that

Btw, just going off what I'm seeing in the prelude, I'm fairly certain the official screens and trailers were from the PS4 Pro version or Xbox One X version. A lot of textures seem flatter and player faces seem to have a lower mesh count/res on them.

Let's just say that The Prelude was okay. It was way too short. Storyline is decent, and gameplay was pretty good. Unfortunately, My Player creation is atrocious. Not being able to make more specific sculpting to your player like last years version is unacceptable. Even the generic player models look worse in this one, IMO. I guess they want everyone to do a face scan instead...

Overall, I'd give The Prelude a 6. I am really looking forward to 2K18, but this demo really didn't bring any excitement to the table

I said this when they were releasing screenshots etc but people on here told me to "quit whining".

They could at least be upfront about that kind of thing imo.

Re: NBA 2K18 The Prelude Available Now, Post Your Impressions Here

So i played the prelude with a pure 6'7 min weight pure playmaker as i knew the build wouldn't really matter in the prelude without any attributes, and I have a couple of observations that were a little concerning, but a bit grain of salt at this time.

So on one play, I got pushed from the top of the arc out to a corner 3 on the right (using 2k cam). I saw a few of those auto-strip animations when attacking the paint that were op and too frequent in 17, and I was just getting pushed around when I had the ball, getting cut off and sent flying backwards constantly.

KD is still 6'9 for some reason, when he even said he's 6'10.5 without shoes, so he should be either 6'11, or 7ft. Height is important in 2k, so doing a former cover athlete dirty is a poor move.

I despise DJ's roommate; the latest in a long line of supposed comedy characters that are just cliched, annoying, and tiresome.

All in all, too short of time playing and with terrible attributes still leaves this an unknown.

In terms of body, I was guarding Shaun Livingston in the scrimmages, who himself is a fairly slight player, but he looked like the mountain against my viper as a match up. I did go for minimum shoulder width though, so hopefully that makes a difference.

Well because this should be obvious. No company is going to show their game at its lowest. Its why games at big console conferences are actually running on high end PCs.

You show your game at its best, not at its worst. In this case, worst is obviously Switch/PS4/XONE and best is PC with One X and PS4 pro in the middle

Gameplay is buttery smooth, can't get over how good it feels to play. Way fewer animation lock situations and don't seem to be fighting the controller as much to get the guy I'm playing as to do what I want. Closest the series has been to one-to-one movement and super excited for the full game.

I don't care about the storyline or the MyCareer silliness (that is truly there) but man, the gameplay feels great. SMOOTH is the word and it has been said many times in this thread.

You can FINALLY beat your man again on 1vs1 with players like KD, Curry or LeBron. I want to try it more before saying that it might be "too easy" now, but hopefully it can be adjusted with sliders if that is the case.

The players don't feel HEAVY anymore, they move as a NBA player should move and the overall feel of the game is amazing. I haven't noticed too many changes besides that and that the picks work now, but that alone is HUGE.

Nah, the beating the man off the dribble is fine. It's just that ACE hasn't kicked in yet, because the difficulty is on pro, and thus, you don't see proper defensive rotations to stop guys like Lebron/KD/Curry.

You need multiple defenders to truly stop those guys because if you leave anyone on an island with those guys, unless your name is Roberson or Leonard, they are going to get theirs.

That prelude was trash, didn't even get to see the neighborhood lol. One positive is that all my dialogue and the way my player interacted with scout, atm, assistant coach was different to gentos version on YouTube I wonder why ? Alternate storyline maybe ?
