Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread

I think I may have found a bug. Although I am increasing salary cup, for example it was at 99$ and used all my finances to put to to 108$, salary cup is still 99$. So why adjust that budget at all.

Or do I miss something here?

(I dunno if it generates the same names for each of them every time; I've got Jackson Baldwin, Jeffrey Staples, and Mirka... something. I forget his last name.) Baldwin, the SF, has 99 speed. NINETY-NINE. HE'S 6'10"! Based on attributes, all three of them are going to be All-NBA their rookie years. And I used a tool for PC to check their peak beginnning and end, as well as their actual potential, just in case they were designed to be busts. Nope. (Mirka looks like he might underachieve, but he's not gonna be Dario Milicic or anything.)

Anybody actually play the season yet to confirm or put to rest my fears that these three are just gonna wreck the league?
I simmed passed the first season. Lets such say that now the league has 3 LeBrons coming into the league

I think I just broke MyLeague... And here I thought the new CBA rules would make team building harder....

Ill have pictures later, but I built a Bulls team by the third season that has LeBron, Jokic, Kemba, an 85 ovr Lauri, Hassan Whiteside... The team is stacked, and I did it with every "logic" option turned on. And the salary total is over the luxury tax by $40M, but Houston has me beat by $10M. Im not trying to "brag" about this or anything, just pointing out how untested and unrealistic the mode really is out of the box.

One thing I found though, during the training camp part of the offseason, you can basically go to free agency and hand pick any player you want. Apparently its bugged where salary cap rules dont apply there, so I was able to sign Kemba to around $30M even though I was already over the cap.

Bird Rights and Restricted Free Agency are not working, so don't waste your time right now.

That's disappointing. I'm tempted to go in and edit all of their attributes before the draft, just to make them a little more human. I'm okay with having three generational talents in one draft - I get that, it makes for a good storyline - but this is a little ridiculous. It'd be fun to turn one of them into a huge bust...

Hope you reported this in the bug thread.

It is too easy to build teams though.
After year one, and with minimal effort, I had the following team:
                PG John Wall
                SG 77 ovr rookie
                SF Kevin Durant
                PF M. Morris
                C 82 ovr super rookie

I was able to trade for the #3 overall pick, while keeping my 16th pick. I was then able to use that 16th pick to move up to the 7th pick.

I was able to trade away every bad contract for 2nd round picks. I reached an agreement with Durant in the free agency moratorium period where I paid less than market value and before he received any other offer!
I also had the money to sign Javale McGee.

I'm not even over the cap right now.

I hope 2k can do something to make teams less willing to take on bad contracts for worthless second round picks.

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread

I'm currently 27 games into my Knicks franchise, sitting at 14-13. Switched the team's system to 7 second offense and the players have responded well.

We are currently 4th in the Eastern conference but there's 6 teams within a game of each other, not including the top 3 (Raptors, Celtics, Cavs), so the standings in the East can change dramtically within a week.

I'm currently loving Carmelo's play with the team, have no idea what will happen. I feel that we are a point guard away from being a contending team.

Hoping to move some money before the deadline to free up space this offseason. Would like to package Courtney Lee and Lance Thomas for a expiring. There's no way we can realistically move Noah, who currently is seeing no playing time.

Really happy with the team performance at the moment. Looking forward to see where we will go!

I mean, that's not too crazy. Trading away bad contracts is extremely easy, and reaching an agreement with Durant before any other offer is concerning, but I think that would be fixed if they made players more patient and not quick to jump at any offer. I mean I wouldn't mind seeing some players wait until the end of it to make a decision, or even go a couple days into free agency.

One thing that would really help is a trade value calculator. There's one for Madden where people can plug in anything that is in the trade and it'll tell you the value of each side and if its fair or not.
I dont have the skills to be able to create something like that, but I have the file I can pass along if anyone else wants to attempt it.

About how unrealistic my situation was, my roster is:

                    LeBron James (98)
Louis Cox (93 rookie, the guy is A or A+ in every category except for inside D and rebounding)
                    Nikola Jokic (91)
                    Kemba Walker (90)
                    Hassan Whiteside (90)
Stephen Zimmerman (88... dont remember him being an 88.) **
                    Lauri Markkanen (85)
                    Denzel Valentine (82)
                    Kris Dunn (81)
Floyd Kersey (79, was a rookie in season 2)
                    Jerian Grant (78)
                    Cristiano Felicio (77)
                    Iman Shumpert (77)
                    Paul Zipser (75)
Derrick White (75, rookie in season 2)
                    Diamond Stone (75)
                    Joel Bolomboy (74) **

                    ** 2-way contract

One thing I'm not sure about is if 2-way contracts count against the 15 player total, because as of right now, everyone is called up (17 players) but only 15 have true NBA contracts.

My current cap situation is a total team salary of $164.89M, $63.47M over the cap and $42.82M over the luxury tax. This is lead by the hefty contracts of 37.39M, 30.42M, 30.42M, and 25.35M to LeBron, Kemba, Hassan, and Jokic, respectively. Next is Felicio at 8.16M and everyone else is under 6M for this season.

I said I would wait a few days after the game drops to see peoples impressions of the game overall but especially My League. The blog got me super excited but seeing the issues y'all are experiencing is pretty disappointing. I know I'm going to pull the trigger and buy the game real soon but I was under the impression the mode was going to be a finely tuned polished experience from day 1.

Also it's a little disappointing the G-League is integrated in a very minimal way. It's still the best franchise mode in sports gaming but it's got a ways to go it seems.

In my league, they said you can change the all star location. I did that but they also said the court changes every year or you can customize your own all star court. I have tried for over 6 seasons now and that seems to be bull....am I doing something wrong?
