Is it gonna be possible to ever have animations specific to certain players builds and play styles? Watching this clip its like artis gilmore is lebron james and ben wallace with the athleticism.Comment

Started a new season with the Wizards. HOF default sliders as usual... The team is full of talent (after playing with Detroit Pistons i feel it that way anway lol) but they are reminiscent of their real life version so far for me in 3 games. I won all of the games but the team is inconsistent like hell throughout the games lol.
Sometimes the team is very hot, making every shot, balooning the lead up to 20+ then cooling off like Iceberg and not hitting anything letting opponents to come back...
Anyway it's an interesting ride lol.
I loved Beal's stroke and freeing Porter and Beal through floppy actions is fun. Markieff Morris is another guy who is sometimes hitting everything, scoring 20+ then next game missing all and finishing with 6 points.
It's a fun experience as I pointed out. Putting Kelly Oubre Jr in for Gortat and playing with 5 small guys with Kieff at 5 is an interesting experience as well. The offense is fun with that group.
Lastly I noticed that the opponents are acting like John Wall has never hit a three point shot in his life before, giving a lot of space to Wall and it tricks my mind from time to time to jack it up from beyond the arc (not run anything) since Wall is wide wide open. Playing on SStar, I'am playing with the shotfeedback to see what's going on and I notice the game register some shots as heavily contested that appears wide open. And it's not just once or twice, it happens a lot.
Either the shotfeedback isn't working properly or there is an issue with what the game consider open or contested. I turned on the feedback because I was wondering why I was missing so many shots that appeared open.
Here's one for exemple:
This is registered as heavily contested.
Anyone else noticed that ? I'am not a slider guy but maybe that can be improved in the settings ?Comment

Ah ok you saying the opposite. TBH I don't play against CPU so I wouldn't know.
Hip ride animation is not good because people spam it, and it's basically unstoppable with LBJ or Durant. Then again LBJ has been pushing people out of the way IRL all season long this year on his way to bucket lol.
I kind of agree with you but I don't think the hip ride animation is the problem. Watch any NBA game and you will see ball players either superstars or journeymen getting steps on their defenders and getting by them. Fast rotations on defense or forced dribble pick ups are the main reason blow bys in the real NBA aren't just easy money. These two things are lacking in 2k18..In other words the animation itself isn't the problem. The fact that the animation has no real counter is the problem. Out of all the games I've played I have seen maybe 3 or 4 forced dribble pick ups. Game doesn't reward good defensive position enough and most animations favor the offense be it loose balls, ball morphing on passes/dribbling, etc. Watching the most recent episode of 2ktv and seeing they are hard at work mo-capping more dunk animations has me a little worried. I keep seeing people saying that blow by animations arnt the problem, but they are a problem, iv seen shaq oneal and yao ming get blow by on guards and other defenders, it is definitely a problem, it needs some tweaking, it should be more about taking angles and starting layups with the defender body ball concept in mind, or if you have no one infront of you, attacking straight to the basket, but you can just have a defender right infront of you and get a straight line to the basket, even if the defender isnt shading or giving you that way.
Again, I agree with you that it shouldn't be super easy. Like I said it is hard to counter it in 2k18 and that's the problem imo. Watch these NBA playoffs and you see guys getting by people a lot but to counter that rotations are fast and sometimes players are forced to pick up their dribbles or reset due to defender position IRL.
