Ahh, I don't realize that. I was using Wikipedia and I guess no one had updated it.

I think Head # 142 is the closest they have to Winger.

Yea I know, a lot of weird grades going around. Seems like they took the most simple approach to this.

They gave Tyrone Lue a B in defense when the Cavs have gradually fallen off defensively after he replaced Blatt.

They gave Rick Carlisle C's in offense and defense despite the way he maximizes his talents every year.

They gave Van Gundy C's.

They even gave TOM THIBEDAUX a freakin D for his defense.

The also gave Spoelstra C's even though he's won two championships and maximized the Heat last season, and gave D'Antoni a B+ on defense (if I remember right).

I can see if they were really lazy and just ranked coaches by their team's defensive and offensive ratings, which is all kinds of wrong, but they also gave Brett Brown an A+ for defense while coaching the 76ers.

The assistant coaches don't make much sense either-- Ron Adams, the assistant coach of Golden State, is known for his stellar defensive focus, but he's ranked a B+ behind Kerr's A+ in defense, when it seems to be that Adams should maybe be an A+ to Kerr's A.

The staffs ratings just seem wildly inaccurate and haphazardly done. Maybe to give you something to improve in MyGM, or just based on team performance so coach ratings don't affect how existing teams play too adversely. After all, determining how good a coach really is and how much of that perception is affected by the players he has has always been a difficult thing to determine. But it would have been a lot better to have them rated realistically, especially since coach and system and how they affect players in MyTeam and MyLeague are a thing now.

Do you know what if any effect the coaching grades actually have? I know the badges effects. I also know that the coaching grades affect(cosmetically) the ranking/overall of your team but it doesn't seem to have any effect on simulation success in myleague or gameplay as far as I know.

I was actually happy to see them give Brett Brown a good grade on Defense, he gets those terrible rosters to play good defense. It might be too high but it was nice to see them not just give him F's.

And grades don't affect simulated seasons, I've tested this. From what I've heard OG say, the grades have an effect while in-games.

So is someone making an updated roster with real names, updated faces and ratings etc? If so i hope it gets shared for download. Would be a nice project that gets tons of download from us myleague players that want close to perfect realism

I'll definitely be doing this but will wait until opening day rosters. Don't want to miss out on any newly added players/roster updates.

It blows my mind that anyone would give Danphony that high of a defensive grade. He is the absolute worse HC in the history of the NBA in understanding defense. He puts little to no effort on defensive side of the things.

Lmao this a gross exaggeration. Most of his teams have been slightly below average defensively and they've also played at very high paces which tends to tire players out a little more on that end. He def shouldn't be ranked a B but a C- would be accurate, it's not like he should be a F.

I have them in Post #10 - the coaches with a team beside their name are named John Smith on 2K's roster.

I did take some liberty with some of the assistant coaches... I used former players that I knew if the assistant coach wasn't clearly marked so that list may not be 100% accurate.

Here's a list of coaches I tried to match with a face. Some of them look okay and others are pretty terrible (like OS favorite Juwan Howard). I have the video in the first post if you want to see how they look. Also, if you see another head that looks better then let me know. I know for sure that some of the faces are either 2K devs or past coaches (like Head 124 is an old Steve Kerr), but I also have a terrible memory, so if you recognize anyone let me know.



The coaches with a team by their name currently have John Smith's as assistants and need to be added immediately.

Lastly, I don't watch enough basketball do attributes or team styles so if anyone wants to make any recommendations for any of these coaches that would be appreciated. In the meantime, I'm going to start working on looking for heads for each GM.

Great post man. I'm definitely going to be editing as many of these as possible. Glad to see someone already started compiling a list of accurate faces. I have a spreadsheet that I constantly update with Coach grades. They are all based off their coaching track record, mostly things like their teams offensive and defensive efficiency rankings, etc. For team style I go off trends like, team pace, defensive aggression etc.

Right now I mostly have head coaches but I will get started on assistants as soon as possible. I'll share my stuff with you guys soon.
