In MyCareer? I find if the opposing center has weak post defense hitting some post combos can actually break ankles. Centers wither higher post defense do hold their ground, so go to a fade.

I'm not great at playing this build but get point pretty quickly till the doubles come.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what's being said here.

Re: Can't Do Up & Unders/or Up and step Thrus without being Blocked

I've had some success with both up/unders & step-throughs but I think other players are more prone to being fooled--the CPU cheats. Obviously i play online...

But I agree post play is nerfed because we don't require skill to defend it. Timing can be all over the place and gameplay is like: "nah, its cool" The game absolutely needs a hardcore approach to leaving your feet. It's a basketball no-no, but we all do it because gameplay allows it. I don't believe every mistimed block should be a foul but the VAST MAJORITY should be...the ones not called a foul should cause you to be completely out of the play like I was below. We should see a longer gather before the defender can attempt a 2nd block though (especially by guys with low block ratings) Stauskas shouldn't have been able to jump again so soon.

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RyZVKRhR7to" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Right now the standard for blocks is so low. We can't demand skill for shooting, releasing layups and dribbling but allow block timing to be all "whatever"--when I get a bad release for a shot i'm penalized--shot-blocking should be no different. The game will have them miss completely with bad timing...but good timing = block. It can't allow that kind of blatant double-standard. Never forget that Risk/Reward is at the heart of all good gaming experiences.

Let's be real...nothing is going to change this type of behavior but fouls. So it has to be addressed similar to chase-down blocks in 2K18. The community shouldn't suffer because gameplay insists on hand-holding cheap players or guys simply don't know better--let's teach them why you're careful going for blocks. If defenders are close and have bad timing the contact should be called like was here:

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/81H-6VVNjzY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jump-shots are no different. We should see airborne defenders whistled pretty regularly.

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZpN7X4KKUq8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IFW2o7t5oAU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

As long as we agree that "good" shot block timing is right after the ball is released or at the high point of the ball for layups/dunks (and never before an offensive player starts his shot attempt) then we're not over-penalizing blocks. As much as I hate to admit it--this guy had good timing with the help defender. Collins was taken totally out of the play when he jumped at the 3pt line--which is ok, outcome variety makes the game great.

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WV5JE3eOuYw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Embiid also has great high-point-of-the-ball timing here:

      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Cxzv45QzcDQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I think we've all been anticipating a way for gameplay to incorporate drawing fouls on guys that insist on jumping because it makes for better gameplay. All the right tools are in place 1) contesting with the right stick is an effective option 2) the game is taking a much hardcore turn 3) strips and a much more contested painted area are now in the game. Cheap players that think they're just going to drive into the paint and pump fake are in for a rude awakening.

Hopefully soon we can finally see the ability to draw fouls like Simmons did here:

      CAN'T WAIT.

doesn't help that on the higher difficulties the cpu cheats when it comes to post defense. It defends by responding to controlled inputs, It wont bite on pump fakes or up and under and only plays hands up defense until you actually commit to the shot, then it will contest the shot, every single time, kind of frustrating.

ya I rarely get reactions from pump fakes, jabs and walk up dribbles.

Re: Can't Do Up &amp; Unders/or Up and step Thrus without being Blocked

This thread needs to be stickied, tagged, re-tweeted, emailed to 2k , etc.

This is the most frustrating thing with this game playing in the post. You can pump fake 1 or even 2 defenders out of their shoes to the point where they arent even in the play but when you go up to shoot and make them pay for bad defense they still get a body block.

It infuriates me. It's like 2k rewards bad defense in the post instead of punishing them for jumping when they shouldn't be. I get blocked so much when i pump fake a guy and hes jumping behind me or over to the side but when i go up he blocks it with his body. I hate it and it needs to change.

My other gripe, and this is less common, is some of the dunk animations are over powered. I play "right stick defense' and at times ill go up against a guy in the post who just catches it and goes up and dunks even though I am in proper defensive position directly in front of him with my hands up. But when he starts his animation it pushes my guy back away from him and lets him dunk. That's my other pet peeve. If 2k could fix those two issues post play would be dramatically improved.

That Ben Simmons clip is beautiful, do you know how to trigger that animation?

Also it's so sad because as people have said, the offensive post game has gotten a Very Good upgrade but cannot be used to it's potential

Yeah right 😏 dude you know better....it was random as hell and you know it lol. I saved it so fast when it happened tho 😂😂 We all want that mechanic in...its the holy grail of hoops gaming.

Nothing will settle down these block spammers like drawing fouls from guys that are over-aggressive. FACT.

I put together a little post montage from one of my games today--guys who embrace the post gotta stick together (I match up really well with the Pelicans--probably because Embiid is so good on D and AD has to chase Ben) Dropped the equivalent of 48-12-2blks with Jojo.
