Yooo... I played with Hakeem last night..... OMG..... I dropped either 44 or 50 points (I can't remember) with him last night on my cousin. And it wasn't vs any player. It was Shaq! lol....

I wanted to share another secret with you guys that I was using last year. You can pick up your dribble by tap the right stick towards the basket (left neutral)

Yes, if you don't go up right after. You can avoid the pump fake by holding the right stick down or up after you do the drop step.

Aggressively backing down then going immediately into a hook works if you have a sizeable strength advantage (At least +10 more strength). It creates enough space to get a clean fade away or hook shot off.

This does make it difficult to play like Lamarcus Aldridge in this game and his struggle buckets. The man shoots contested fadeaways over his right shoulder on the left block All The Time whenever he gets bullied out of good post position. And doing those sorts of fadeaways is a no go unless you literally spend a couple hours in scrimmage getting the timing for it perfect (there are some shots I hit with Anthony Davis I have no business hitting) when you're getting smothered by defense.

Which brings me to my next point. You're just going to have to learn how to green shots out of the post if you're going for realism. Just like if you want to use Demar like he plays in real life you're gonna have to learn how to green contested mid ranges.

Which goes into the whole mantra of good defense, better offense. You can't guard that, it was perfect.
How would you use demar in the post?

Just a bunch of contest fade away? or the up and under..that’s all I see him do

It does lead to hilarious moves like where I did a tornado drop step in pro-am on my defender (much love to ragnar for his post lab video for teaching me this one), completely lost him and held the ball out for everyone to see before completing the layup. my guy is such a showoff

I'm really tired of users or youtube videos that think one move is need in the post. All post up moves can be stopped. There is a counter for every move. The best thing just like dribbling with a outside player. Is that you can chain moves together in the post. A lot of users I see doing the same moves over and over. It's scary to see players not using a players full ability.

Like I said in my last post. I love the face up game.

I alot of users start with the spin. I like to start with that too. But you can chain other moves right out of this if your oppnent knows it's coming. Because at this point everyone is doing the spin move lol. But you can come back from the spin move and going to a fade away. Which opens up tons of space or a Hook shot or a up and under. Know the players release for fade aways. Dirk fade away (animation) from the left is different from the one to his right. Even the timing is different. So if none of those moves work and your defender is still on you. Players that have good fade away ratings can knock down a contested fade away or 2 if you know their release (Dirk).

Hey that Hakeem video. Not as cool as I wanted it. But this guy is a BEAST! I've never dropped that many points with one player in a 6 minute quarter a game in a long time! My cousin didn't want to double to unleash the 3 pointers lol.

whoever is guarding you in that video has no clue how to, he was just jumping around, all you have to do is hold L trigger and hands up contest and you'll negate almost 95% of post moves, the only moves that guys are able to do pull off in the post on me is if they get the quick post spin animation or get a extremely unrealistic dunk animation as your guy just gives up. i said this a while back but this games post play is terrible, if i was guarding you none of those moves would have worked, to score in the post in this game is just about exploiting the games mechanics.

I'm playing myleague with the knicks on the 2nd year and I'm using the triangle so i get a lot of post opportunities, my problem isn't scoring from the post I can do that at a consistent rate with porzingis using post fades and post stepbacks but only because I get a lot of greens but I want to add some variety to my post game it's good to drop 30+ points but with only two moves get's really stale, I read everything you guys posted and saw all the videos I tried to add up and unders and i get like 1 or 2 reactions per game, the post spin is really good but i find the post shimmy hook really weak the best i got in a game was lightly contested and the rest smothered other heavily contested with that being said I just want to learn the post game and do things like you guys do on those videos if someone could explain with detail how they know when and what moves to use it could really help

I'm going to have to say your wrong on that one. If you think hands up is going to stop Hakeem... You got another thing coming to you. One of the problems with hands up is that you be come prone. If the offense player comes towards you or shoots a jumper. He'll most likely miss. But it he fades or shots to the side. It's like your not even standing there. Especially with a skilled big like Hakeem..... I haven't seen anyone slow him down.

And I want to add the spin move is very stoppable. Like you I thought the same thing. But I talk to Mike Wang about. You can stop. You can stone wall anyone. Displayed in this video below. But you can then counter off that move. But as a defender if you know it's coming. You can stop it each time.

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SaK_gGJEt7U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Another factor is having a good low post defender. You can make players miss if you time up their input for a layup. What I'm doing below isn't pressing the left stick to the baseline. I'm press it toward the middle of the backboard.

So I was looking for videos that showed all the post moves. Give people a better idea of what you can do in the post. If your serious about being a Post God. You'll watch the video below. He does a great job of showing all the basic moves and then showing how you can chain them together. I'm not trying to throw dirty on anyone but this isn't for Money plays or anything cheese you can do over and over again. It's a long video. But even I learned something watching this video (ball protection)
