Re: #Realism Another year, more promises and disappointments

Online (H2H) and offline player here...

I'm not saying it's a battle that 2k shouldnt fight...

but shooting for realism in a mode where players have supped up ratings and badges on top of that is an uphill battle...

What's the current Pro Am difficulty?

I think 2k should go the way of other online games and have classes you can play rather than just letting you use your jacked up/VC boosted offline player.

For example, you could choose from 10 different center archetypes that would all be similarly rated, however they would have different specialities. I think this would allow 2K a lot more control over the gameplay and to keep it as true to sim basketball as possible. As a bonus, this would finally force everyone who claims to be king of the sticks to prove it on a level playing field.

This is a rant if I ever saw one.. I guess my question is why do you have to be a sharpshooting center? I don't give a **** about park or pro am... I play my NBA games and use other modes, so I can be anything I want and have fun.

As for the comments about the gameplay.. it is the best ever 2K has been.

I will agree the VC thing is crazy high, but hopefully they fix it and all will be right with the world!

On one hand I get where you're coming from, you'd like to see realistic NBA numbers...

... on the other hand I'm conflicted because I see NBA players outside of their normal NBA competition absolutely scorching it at LifeTime Fitness, in practice, in pick-up games against WAY lower level competition.

So I'm not sure if it's fair comparison, elite-level pro-am players against 70 overalls, it makes sense they would scorch them and if the defenders are out of position, they shouldn't punish the offensive player right? Even if they're not "out of position" per-se, it's not the same level of competition.

I'm not sure where I stand on this because I'd like more realistic competition as well.

There's a difference between patching something that's geuinely "broke" versus patching stuff due to a bunch of crybabies on Twitter that don't know how to adjust to the new game mechanics.

Have you forgot about the infamous Patch 5 from 2K15? That patch effectively destroyed that game unless you was one of the crybabies that thought every green release should be an automatic make.

I don't know how to adjust to their being basically no incentive for making a smaller big? What new game mechanics for the big man size? Its the same as last year as far as I can tell. But eh, I guess wanting to make more REALISTIC sized PF's and Centers t have their utility is just crying. Also, sounds like your being run by patch fears from 2k15. Also they added the ability for them to change sliders without patches since that dreadful patch. But I don't know if you play Pro AM so idk if you even care about the issues the OP and I have been talking?

I don't really understand why it's so unbelievable that we want game balance in Pro-Am. Not even talking about Park, just Pro-Am.

It's not so much about realism at it is game balance.

It's not even about the MyPlayer ratings or their badges anymore. Even though I think 75% percent of these badges are useless redundant boosts that should just be strictly affected by ratings. Vintage Kobe, Ray Allen, Lebron, Dirk, Duncan, TMac, etc. have better ratings than these MyPlayers AND they have a better badge pool. But you can't cheese with them nearly as well as you can with these lesser skilled MyPlayers. Well...maybe you can with MJ...and KD...and Steph...

The problem has been and always will be these gosh darn cotton pickin green releases. They need to go. It's been over 3 years now that these E-Sport players find a broken jump shot that they can green 90% of the time. Each year Mike tries to tune this system(He even said it would be harder to get greens this year) but it's way past time to just face facts.

A 100% guaranteed make is just terrible for a competitive setting.

I remember when I used to play head-to-head player lock modes and be glad if I shot 40% from 3 overall. Now if I don't make 70% of the open 3s I take I'm having an off-game. It's just sad.

2k11 MyPlayers' ratings were better than any NBA player in the game no matter what build you made and outside of the post spin-dunk, hop-step cheese, and 7'5 hacked players that game was years ahead of these past 2 in terms of game balance.

The competitive modes should be on at least superstar. Personally I want it on HOF but whatever. I don't know what it's on but it clearly isn't high enough.

I can tell your bias because you never mentioned people who spam dribbling moves. You sound just like all the other crybabies mad because you can't blow past a good Center anymore. They gave 2K has given speed back to big men in the game. You can try a hide your bias but I see right through your BS.When I'm online it's funny hearing people whining because they can't spam animations anymore. But 2K will probably listen to whining crybabies like you and neutralize Centers speed.

I don't have a problem with online vs offline because, once again, I play both. I read threads that deal with issues for both, because both effect me.

But I don't go from thread to thread telling people how wrong they are and how much more I know than them since I've played 1 pro am game.

nobody telling your wrong and im right. and it only take 1 pro am game to know how individual play.this is about showboating not teamplay so you dont have to try and make excuse of it. maybe your 3% who play realistic online but 97% of it dont lets be real. now regarding about me coming to this thread is bcoz people who kept on commenting about this game is usually online complains and its flooding the whole forum of how things dont go their way. which automatically the whole gamers will suffer.both sides. if thats how open minded you are in answering then good for you. we both adults then lets discuss this like adults.

P.S if only online players has 1 thread for all of they online concern i wont be bothered to even go there. it just annoy me every other day that there is a new thread about online gaming here. and usually its the same thing. you get the point. PEACE

Re: #Realism Another year, more promises and disappointments

To be completely transparent and fair, there should be a "Park"/"Pro-Am"/"Offline" section on OS, ORRRRR..... each headline saying "#Realism/Disappointments" should read "#PARK-Realism Disappointments"... for clarification on the discussion.

Park... not my steez, like above posters have said there's just too much non-team orientated play, too much showboating, too high inflation of everything. Not. For. NBA-Simheads. Like. Me. I played with numerous guys who would shoot 0-6, with 5 turnovers as a... wait for it... playmaking/shot creating PG (go figure right? Couldn't have called that, ever) and when I PM'd them about costing the rest of us the game for being a ball-hogging, shot-jacking bad teammate, they would respond "Well you guys wouldn't share the ball so yeah". Park is just not for me.

Now, offline... different story. You can edit every single player and every single coach and every single playbook and every single attribute as it pertains to every single tendency to make-up with every single team... so... #Realism... is... #OnPoint.

Pro-Am... I do feel... is heading in the right direction.

SO CURIOUS about the E-League and the rosters/sliders/etc. they use Please be good ish, please be good ish

There is no defense vs OP big man finishers down low. There should be SOME freakin defense. The only defense is double team, it's ridiculous. If you reach it's an auto-foul, if you body them up it doesn't even matter, they'll poster your face. Why the hell would a patch be made to make dunking EASIER when it's already OP. Noobs win again.

Bear in mind, some of us played before... if not before online existed, before many people actually did it. Some of us played before 5 on 5 modes were a thing as well.

So, it's better to consider 'us' as offline sim players who moved onto another mode because... I don't know how anyone can make the argument that offline is better than 5 v 5 online. haha. You can say bad players, true, but then get good players. You have to have played a game against the people who are really good and don't exploit (they exist and they will bust your ***) and the people who are really good and do exploit (they are obviously better than the former.)

You have to see what the one brand of basketball looks like then see the second and say, is it really an 'artificial patch forcing people to play sim' if they make it so that what the second group is doing doesn't work anymore? If they find new exploits (exploits happen in every game) patch them, too.

Remember when you could just sit under the rim in park, setting a pick for as long as you wanted to, then jump and grab the board? Those are the kind of 'imbalances' and 'exploits' that make their way into 2k, basically nullifying every other play style at the highest level. That's why stage (that and getting kicked from the games and losing your vc) was unbearable for me.

It's like, I had a lot of fun playing 2k7 on ps2. I was like o ya I'm a beast; I'm in the top 100. I was if not beating the best people playing them close, then I met the guy who would throw full court passes to T-Mac and dunk every time, all while having Yao and Mutombo in at bigs. Maybe I could have adjusted and eventually won, I didn't lose badly, but... it's true people will do whatever they can do to win, but that sort of stuff shouldn't even be an option.

Patching that sort of stuff is good for the game. It will make it more fun for everyone.

Keep in mind, people who are saying they want the game to be more realistic are likely asking for it to be much harder... how can that be whining?

I was hoping for big changes for 18, but when you peel it back, there's really not much that is good about this game. I don't play mycareer and I can't imagine how bad that is. It really starts with the complete lack of awareness of the defense to stop turbo spam off inbounds (legacy issue that is game breaking online). This year is the worst by far. Basically, if you intend to run a half court offense forget this game; your opponent will just stand in the paint while you try to score against the CPU. In years past, you could be quite effective if you actually tried to run an offense. Not this year. After 16, it's been a slow and definite decline. Pretty cool additions to the movement system, but at the end of the day this game is terrible. Graphically better than Live, but as far as simulation, they're basically the same.
