I'm okay with relatively minor aesthetic glitches like this if it means you can actually get past guys on the perimeter. I found the game almost unplayable the past few years because I could be Kyrie and get absolutely stonewalled by guys like Al Jefferson on the perimeter and in transition. I rarely/never watch replays so something like this would have gone totally unnoticed by me had it not been mentioned here.

I find it interesting that so many people are ok with this. I actually like the gameplay this year myself so I can understand. But then I think, what if this was NBA live and there were multiple videos of how players are completely morphing through each other. I bet many of the people excusing it on 2k would be quick to call Live a joke, terrible, and needs to just stop making games. Even though this year's Live is a game that absolutely gets the 1on1 dribble drive game right.

Never look at 2k in replay mode. Clipping happens every play.

They step out of bounds often when aniimations kick in.

Man...I hear you. That would drive me up the wall when I was on fastbreak, have the angle for the layup, but ALL forward momentum would stop due to the defensive player morphing in front of me or stonewalling my player from the side.

I will gladly take 2K18's "problem", because it forces the defense to be in front of me and play the angles. If you're riding my hip, it's either going to be a made/missed layup, foul, or one spectacular chasedown block. Personally, I probably would never notice the clipping, because I perform all dribble moves when the defender gives me space to work in. If the defender bodies me up, I just use LT to protect the ball, then I might spin out of it if the defender is too aggressive.

Honestly, clipping happens all the time in video games. It's only more noticeable in NBA 2K (probably all sports games for that matter), because it's a contact sports.

NBA Live more than likely has clipping too. For the record, I think most people consider NBA Live 18 a solid effort. I was planning on buying it myself, but then 2K Sports dropped the announcements about All-Time and Classic Teams which included the Pacers. Then I played the Prelude....Christ, this new motion engine is fire.

Clipping isn't why it's easier to drive on certain defenders. Its because they designed it that way to better reflect real life. You'll see more hip riding instead of the bumping like last year.

The better the defender the harder it is to drive. Trying driving on Kawhi, Kcp or DeMarre Carroll youll get bumped and cut off alot more.

What's good bro, I was trying to message u directly but my phone wouldn't give me the option to do it. I wanted to ask you if u could make a "OPPOSING CPU AI PROBLEMS" thread. I'm not yet allowed to make threads and it seems like nobody else gives a damn lol. The CPU NEVER shoots contested jumpers off the dribble, NEVER shoots jumpers from triple threat, NEVER just stop and pop when they get open off the dribble (they always float forward to a low percentage *** shot), and they will shoot that garbage floating 2 handed jumper on fastbreaks with only 1 man in front of them. It makes playing the CPU feel so trash smh and it's something Live does much better unfortunately.

A stickied thread could show devs exactly what needs to be done about these issues. Thanks in advance if you look out for me bro.

So far, I really like it. Last year I felt I needed a screen or spin move to beat perimeter D. Now I can call an iso, have one side of the court to just me and my defender. I still gotta have the right attributes and an okay matchup - speed/acceleration, handling, strength etc I'm not likely to pull this off with my 71 rated bench player. The other defenders see the iso play and react - they drop off their man slightly and collapse the defense. If I beat my defender, help defense will likely arrive and I get to make a decision - pull up in mid-range, floater, try to dunk/lay-up in traffic, find an open man, back out and reset. But I love that aspect of decision making.

I find middle pick and rolls less effective this year - last year I felt a really good chance of hitting the roll man and getting easy dunks. This year people hang back or help defenders contest, so there's a trade off. But I like it overall.

Could be, but I think it's a simple increase/decrease trigger action "cylinder", or body-up-whatever. It evident that arms/legs doesn't count anyway.

Maybe next year. Sometimes you see nice physics and sometimes you see the clipping.

This is just the way it works, I guess. I don't think they will rewrite their engine as long as they don't have any serious competition. I understand that they've sacrificed some "real physics" to make it more fun, and I'm ok with that. It's still just success/failure-driven animations. The core gameplay, while not necessarily that much better (they still haven't addressed its legacy issues), is MUCH more fun this year.

They just need to add more body movement to react to other body parts. If they just made everything tangible but left everything else the same, every play would result in a foul. We would just see a bunch of headbutts and clotheslines based on those clips.

think about that for a moment. I hear what you're trying to say but what you're actually saying doesnt make actual logical sense. If either side is completely fake(brick wall nonsense that you talked about) or (magically clipping thru half a guys body with or without the ball) , then the end result is unrealistic.

So then they have to do things like make NBA level players blow point blank range layups when they should not be doing so.

one fake thing leads to another in the end.

no they cant clean up all of the clipping issues. but this is not an issue as in something they couldnt fix before release. they put this in the game on purpose so you could get to the basket more often. once again that tells me they are not using basketball logic to solve their problems. they are taking the not as difficult road. which means just let them blow thru the guy vs buy them and we will nurf the layups to even it out.

I don’t think it’s as simple as that. They directly stated they are using a new motion system this year. Implementing anything new, especially something that affects that large a part of the game, is not going to be perfect in year one.

As long as it is improved upon every year, it’s acceptable. The clipping isn’t any worse than last year, but the results are better.

truth is you know he wasnt talking about live fans talking about nba live and super clipping issues.

he was talking about people that get on that side of the forums or other boards that are 2k fans, and are critiquing live. The moment they see something that looks suspect they are on top of Live's head. and dont let them see something like this. You and I both know those types would kill Live about it. That was his point.

here's the thing. It makes sense for a fan of a game that has been subpar for years to let other subpar things go since he/she is only looking for progress. its like watching a team full of a 2nd year players on a nba team. that first year we sucked and won 15 games out of 82. year 2 we still suck but we should win 22 games and be happy with the progression. thats nba live.

2K however, is the GSW's. You as a fan should never just say "oh well thats not that bad..when you know it is and give a pass to the reigning champion/MVP"

To be the top you have to not only beat the comp. You have to continue to figure out how to beat yourself. Life and times of a champ.
