Re: NBA 2K18 Patch #4 Available Now on PS4, Soon For PC, Xbox One & Switch - Patch No
Really sucks that they reverted back to adding stuff in via roster updates rather than applying it to existing roster saves like last year. It sucks for those who haven't started a MyLeague yet. The added content does apply to existing MyLeague saves in case some of you didn't know. Problem is if you haven't started a MyLeague yet then you're SOL.
I had over 100 players created and didn't finish my roster in time to start a MyLeague to get the new shoes and uniforms they added today, so now I have to start over. Oh well. I'll probably wait until they add the Knicks uniform patch, the city edition uniforms, and the other 4 throwback uniforms then start over from that point.
Really sucks. I don't understand how they revert back to the old ways of doing things when they had it perfect last year.
EDIT: Hopefully the Kings and 76ers alternate courts are added soon.Last edited by ShowTyme15; 10-13-2017, 12:08 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K18 Patch #4 Available Now on PS4, Soon For PC, Xbox One & Switch - Patch No
These problems did exist pre-patch, but the fixes from the patch to broken renouncing of cap holds has probably made teams use more of their cap so that there is less room for free agents. And since free agent market prices are static based on players' OVR/POT/AGE, the free agents are inflexible with contract demands.
So by the end of free agency, without enough team cap space for them, they are unsigned. Then the logic says, oh crap, these guys are unsigned, so some workaround logic that is a few years old will allow these guys to sign for minimum deals.
So none of this is new. It's just more visible now that there are new cap and signing options in the game based on the implementation of more of the CBA. Combine that with inflated player ratings that make guys sign for max or near max prices only during free agency and basically no cap management logic for the CPU and this is the result.
I don't expect this to be patched because it's too deep. The best way to manage this is with a combination of 30 team control and ratings adjustments across the league. One quick way to affect those ratings is just to drop Intangibles to 25, the minimum, for everyone. It will hack adjust down league wide overall ratings and therefore soften contract demands a bit. It wil take more than that to balance the league and avoid these screwed up contracts but it will should help a bit.

Guys sign for a good deal less that way. As always, 30 team control is a must and I recommend the hard cap being turned off (it doesn't actually exist IRL anyway for the NBA).Comment

I may end up simply raising the cap to adjust for this if need be. That can work too correct? Now Playing on PS5:

Another workaround I've used in years past -- change the primary positions of players to their weakest position (or second weakest position) to lower their overall and thusly their cap demands.

I think you may be right about that. In my case, I had picked up KP's option. But once I advanced he ended up in free agency so I had to resign him, literally using up all my cap space. If his option had just stuck I would have had KP as well as my cap room. This may be whats hap[pening to the CPU teams as well.Comment

2k still needs to fix team up in the play now . Issues with substitutions , no option to sub during timeouts . Issues when you sub out a starter you’re not able to put them back in the game at all . My friends and I play a lot of team up and it’s ruining our fun . Plz fix these issues

Yeah, I updated my original comment to mention turning off hard cap before I saw you post this. I had not tried that positional change workaround, though. I'm sure it works, but it's a lot of clocks to go through when there are so many player contracts to deal with. How do you manage that? It can't be done via quick edit, right?
I tend to wait till the last couple of days of free agency to see what trouble cases I have left, then do the positional edits to get guys to sign.
Other workarounds I've used:
1. Turn off all financial trade rules and sign problem players to teams with ample cap space (the Kings would be a good squad this go around) and then trade those players to whatever team I determine they should go to for a scrub. Keep salary matching on if you want to make it more challenging.
2. Before the offseason, edit trouble players contracts to keep them on their current teams or enable them to be traded to their new team (then editing their contract again to be properly paid).
Usually I start a second "offseason test save" at the beginning of every offseason to source out which free agents might be trouble cases (simming past the draft and such, but since I control all 30 teams I decide the team-options/etc).
3. Not signing anyone in free agency during the free agency period. You lose out on bird rights here, but contract demands are usually a good deal more realistic and lower during the training camp period (where you can sign free agents again before the new season starts). Since bird rights aren't working correctly anyway, this might be the way to go to maintain a sense of realism without having to muck around with contracts.Comment

With all due respect man, I’m not sure if you know how it’s suppose to work.
If ace is on, it’s suppose to change throughout the game. So yes, it’ll change the settings you select throughout the game because it’s adjusting(matchups, POE’s). However, if you turn it off, it will not change your ACE settings throughout the game.
Probably like you, I adjust EVERYTHING prior to the game starting, and you are indeed correct that 2K17 ACE menu didn’t show you your selection. Now it does, and it doesn’t change.
Unless I am misunderstanding how it functions, you are bashing 2K for fixing something that you wanted fix so badly. CheersComment

Re: NBA 2K18 Patch #4 Available Now on PS4, Soon For PC, Xbox One & Switch - Patch No
It was his option for the last year of his rookie deal. I picked it up. But once I got to free agency he was sitting there available. Almost as if I hadn't accepted it. I know that with a qualifying offer it shows up in FA along with the other offers and I'd just match when the time comes. It may have been a bug, IDK. It was from a dummy ML I started right after release.Comment
