I simply don't think comeback code exists. I have not seen any evidence to suggest it does, and I play a heap of games.

As a matter of fact, I had a stretch of 17 games in a row decided by 15+ points.

uhm... excuse me, I don't have that much of problem with this code thing but this game never plays like real NBA basketball at all so comparing the gameplay to real NBA game situation is somewhat inappropriate.

Also I don't think this game is that advanced to portrate that kind of situation.

if this is a satire response to what i just wrote then i give up with this issue..you actually just see the word "realistic" and did not think the whole statement trough.

I think people are confusing 2 things here
The comeback code and just cheap offense from the cpu.
My problem is by far with the cheap manner the cpu approaches offense , that some confuse witha comeback code because the cpu steals and robs to stay close , run away , or to catch up and they will in that period execute cheap blatant buckets that its just hard to buy this a simulator of real basketball.

The level of AI is too low to even consider this even something close to real life nba game scenarios.

They all of a sudden make a run and i know what time it is wenn my suffocating defense doesnt even bother them a BIT . Thats not a comeback code its just the programming of the game that is unrealistic. .you'll see pgs driving into the paint in traffic making contact floaters and 3 defenders dont even have a chance at altering whatever the cpu is programmed to do ..its predetermined which makes makes you feel there is no reward for perfect defense ..its just watching the cpu go through the motions.

I was sure of this "predetermined" programming or scenario storyline of the game so to speak that wenn i started to play the same game over again i would see the cpu have the SAME approach as the game before against the same team in the very same myleague ..thats no coincidence .

I dont know about the comeback code to be honest but im sure that the cpu offense is cheap and lacks intelligence and by far doesnt get even close at mimicking a real nba game ..if 2k would step up the programming I would be a happy man they tried with this fake ace system which hurts the game even more ! But overall its a solid game but it feels as if your playing the same team with the same game approach time after time .no diversity because the programming is outdated maybe they should use a different engine like frost or whatever because 2k 2o has been the same for too long now .

Btw i dont call out the cpu offensive alone for its lack of intelligence and realism, it ranges from blocking shots and seeing the cpu magically recover the ball and score to hustle plays and scoring through bodies (clipping ) and a long list of little things that happen in a fraction of a second , I could post bout a 100 things that are cheap and need to be addressed but i wont get into that .

Comeback code doesn't exist in 2k. People just don't mix up their play-calling or defensive settings and expect things to work for 4 Quarters.

Sometimes over powered comebacks..but need to change up things call for picks... either slow your tempo down..or speed it up.

The only thing that still a bothers me is ...they GIVE the player of the game...with about 4 :00 minutes left...in a 9 minute quarter.

8 out of 10 times ...if I'm losing..when they announce it..I suddenly miss everything ....and if I'm winning..I can barely cling on to win.

That's on the p.c not sure if its on console also....

100000000000000000000% agree. I think the OP is talking about this. Play any team on here besides the Warriors. All of them play the exact same way. All teams are top 5 in defense. All teams are top 5 in offense. This is not intelligent basketball or real NBA basketball. The shots they make are ridiculous. Shot clock cheese is real and a lot of you know it. The AI is too damn efficient even the so-called bad teams. It's getting on my nerves. This game can be fun but it's frustrating to play. You can play lockdown defense for 3 quarters and all of sudden you can't.

This AI engine of whatever it is has run its course. Things need to change. I barely play 2K18 and when I do it's not fun. I can have one good night but 4 other nights I want to throw this **** out (like last night I lost my voice). 2K has to find a way to differentiate the gameplay from the AI somehow.

One more thing: The reason why a lot of people cheese and exploit is because this is what the AI is doing. You don't learn this out of thin air.

Lol with this two..so what is your suggestion for the cpu to comeback when they are down??? you really complaining bcoz you loose in game, like this thing should not happen when you leading bcoz you think you playing good??right?? since you both think you know that is going to happen and know it all how should a "A.I or CPU" should comeback from a game??? without them playing miraculously?? you cannot tell this thing and say that something you should be done..please stop with this ish when the whole world knows who actually play basketball this thing happens 90% of the time in the real basketball games "90%" whatever team is playing. stop this complaining ish when you dont have any suggestion or think that you know a better way to fix it. and dont tell me to balance ish bcoz there is no such thing. can you tell this to your favourite team not F it up when they are starting to loose the lead and eventually loose the game. yeah this is 1000000% also happening so what you gonna do??

I still don't understand how the "difficult system" works since they removed the difficult level + sliders combo in NBA 2K17. I mean Da-Czar in the video says that HoF is "cheese" but not on superstar, looking at the cpu slider between HoF and SS the difference isn't that big. How the system knows the difficult level I want to play when I edit the sliders and they change to "custom"? How to enable the ai-cheese??
In NBA 2K16 I only play MyLeague with player-lock and play the most time on All-Star with light modified default sliders and I'm fine with the gameplay. But in 2K18 I still haven't found the right balance. All-Star is fine for my controlled player but too often my ai teammates are very "limited" on defense/offense.

There's no comeback code in my opinion just NBA basketball. Now 2K will screw you out of a play or 2 just because it is a video game. Example lag online, ball morphing through a body on defense which makes you give up a unrealistic layup, player catching the ball out of bounds(debatable happens in real life), and exaggerating animation that makes you go back court or out of bounds on the base line.

Now that we got that out of way.

Guys just aren't creative man, me and EC Worldwide been saying this for years. Guys games are basic, no creativity or sauce. You need to have sauce in this game to win consistently, make come backs and close out 4th quarters. And you have to be able to get a stop.

I was watching Da Czar video the other day and he also said this game has a ebb and flow system. Guys try to force up shots with stars just because there stars when there obviously cold. Czar said when a star is cold, someone on your bench has it going that night just like real life. Call timeout, drink some water, take a breather. Use that 60 seconds as a mental break then go back to war. Slow down, I realized when you pace yourself and slow down you play more efficient. Don't worry about fastbreaks, you will naturally get chances to run because it's basketball. And your intuition and basketball IQ will tell you when it's smart to run. Don't give it to your PG, pass it up to your wing players for fastbreaks!! If you're playing HOF CPU you messed up already. Czar already said that HOF CPU is straight up cheese. If you're playing CPU play on Superstar, if you're playing against another user play on HOF

In my honest opinion guys don't watch enough film man. Go on YouTube and study who you are using!!! The reason you can't sustain big leads, and close out games is because you lack creativity. Go on YouTube, 2K allows you to recreate 7.5-8 out of 10 moves you see in real life. Watch footage and apply those moves in games, it works wonders. That's why if you play me, I have to many style hence why I named myself IsomotionKing. Be creative and oh yeah shoot alot of fadeaways and leaners off the dribble with your scorers, it works wonders. NBA scorers use alot of fadeaways, when most users don't. Study the CPU when you play, CPU shoots one dribble fadeaways, 2 dribble leaners from mid range and 3, emulate that that's NBA basketball. Users are scared to death to take those shots. Most sim players try to look for the "perfect shot" when there is no perfect shot, take what the defense gives and try the crazy unexpected **** it works.

Play defense. Give something up, prefferably the long contested mid range. If a guy hits a contested mid range shot, falling off one leg spinning, has his tounge out like Mike, jersey in his mouth like Kobe, thinking about what he's buying his daughter for Christmas, while farting In the air and he still hits it congratulate him. In real life guys hit unexpected tough shots all the time, these are professional shot creators they only need a inch of space. Sorry for the long post just tired of guys crying comeback code and script. And call timeouts to neutralize momentum. 2K is a momentum based game as is basketball�� most users are to stubborn, and feel like since it's a video game they don't have to call timeout.

Talking strictly PNO: I have noticed, and nobody can convince me otherwise, that if, say, I'm up 8 with 50 seconds left, my opponent will hit an impossible, contested, moving 3 (not necessarily with Curry) way more often than not. That shot would never go in if the game was really tight or earlier in the game. In the end, it doesn't make too much difference, but why does that shot go in? It's frustrating cause I have my opponent at under 40 points and all of a sudden
he gets to 47-48 even though I still play solid D. I am sure 2k does that to cause adrenaline spikes which ultimately gets you hooked on their product.

Other than that, I don't think there's a comeback code. Sometimes, AI will gift you or your opponent some ridiculous breaks, especially for the home team, but one has to remain calm and wait for the tide to turn - cause it does.

Overall, the comebacks are simply caused by one player getting adjusted to the other, figuring him out. Which is why you should always have a few plays and sets saved for the 2nd half and 4th quarter. I remember playing a very tight game, using Pace. Down 2 points, 10 seconds left. I call timeout, I switch to Flow and my opponent is completely unprepared for the off-ball screens on both wings. I hit an open 3 to win it.

Look, I firmly believe that there is no comeback code in the game. But I think it’s silly when people say ‘employee of said game company that would be negatively impacted by admitting comeback code exists, said it didn’t exist, therefore it doesn’t exist.’ Again, I absolutely do not believe comeback code is in this game. But it would be totally silly for a 2K employee to come out and say ‘yeah we programmed comeback code into the game.’ It would negatively impact the sales of the game, in my opinion. As well as game reviews. Who wants to play a game knowing it will artificially make you lose? Or at least almost lose?

But to some degree there has to some type of "momentum code" or something put into the game because this is a basketball simulation....

Because this a basketball simulation. They have to emulate runs, and momentum changes because that's the basics of basketball. So something is in the game for sure wheather that's ebb and flow system "comeback code" What ever but at the end of the day user error and lack of creativity, and discipline is why most people loose runs.

Also what if your opponent just out played you for a stretch? What if you played solid defense, but they hit tough shots and played inspired basketball for a little stretch and came back? Lol what's the odds of that
