NBA 2K COMBINE


- Noobs
- People on drugs
- Dashboarders / Quitters because they get crackheads for teammates
- Stat based. Stats largely dependent on crackhead teammates
- Colluders / People in parties playing with people they know by pressing search at the same time.
- The lowest basketball IQ you'll ever see
- This is a competition that can have $100k payout if you added everything up. That is the hilarious part to me.

The whole process is a joke. And it reaffirms to me that the 2K Community overall is a joke. Finding good players with REAL bball iq is rare.

This is a disaster for the real NBA. LOL THIS IS THE REAL NBA. People can say whatever they want, the 2K league managers can push their #ProveYourself bs on twitter, but the actual 2k combine experience has been a total fail. Every single game, sharing the court with absolute crackheads. The only thing this "proves" is who can tolerate stupidity long enough.

For those that are interested.

I didn't try to qualiff for the Combine, but think the mode has merit. So I created a roster to allow for Draft Combine play Offline. It is called Offline DCV3 or search milnie22 as the creator. It contains the majority of the archetypes 2k has for the online league, however they have been organised into 5 man teams, they have 3 bench players to make an 8 man roster and make it functional. I play with Stamina off so they can play the entire game.

All Characters have a unique look, badges and signature style. I've played as the entire team, but look forward to trying it with a couple of friends with playerlock on.

Maybe I'm just using the wrong jump shot animation, but I feel like the three-point shooting from the wings and the top of the key on that two-way stretch big build is only a 35% to 40% shot without the dimer or pick and popper badges kicking in, and a conversion rate that low really negates that build's ability to truly "stretch" the floor.

I find myself gravitating towards the corner with that two-way stretch build, because silver corner specialist makes those threes go in at a much higher rate, probably around 50% to 55%.

From the archetypes I've used, I feel like the pure sharpshooter is the only build in this combine that can consistently shoot threes from the wings and the top of the key without dimer or some other badge boost raising your shot odds. I would even go so far to say that a three from any of those spots up top is a bad shot to take in the combine if you aren't a pure sharp and you aren't getting some kind of extra badge boost before you shoot.

Nah you're right. I've tried all the popular releases and shoot 50% on a good day. Very rare greens unless you have a pure sharp. Even corner shots without a dimer can get rough. I think my total 3pt% is 45 with this build, and I'm the corner camper.

I've had the same experiences with all the half-sharps. 30-40% is guaranteed on non-corner 3s, even with the highest dimer imo.

I agree that being the corner guy is the only way this build is useful offensively, but you're also backed into this corner due to every other PF archetype being awful and redundant nonsense lol.

At this point, I'd say even pure sharp shots aren't great if you got a team forcing it inside well. Played a couple games where I didn't even bother running down the floor because they'd just score down low instantly or turn it over lol.

2k is giving us 0 incentive to space the floor lmao.

Yeah I was starting to feel bad this weekend for camping the corner with this two-way stretch build, but the shooting percentages up top just don't seem to justify me being up there from what I've seen so far in this combine. Especially when most PGs are so wild, impatient, and unpredictable with their dribbling that I can rarely get a screen to connect and activate silver pick and popper whenever I'm stationed up top.

It's a shame that so many SGs and SFs are on slashing builds, because you really need at least one of those positions to be on a pure sharpshooter for proper floor spacing. Every time I have a pure sharp on my team I do my best to make sure that they get plenty of open looks by being their personal body guard and screening the heck out of their man whenever I can off-ball.

I wouldn't feel bad for the camping. 2 way stretch is basically the guardian angel build imo. You are the always-open last resort shot taker on offense. On defense, you're almost never guarding a stretch, so you're able to roam around and rack up steals and blocks. Basically just Serge Ibaka.

If you're feeling bad about your numbers, I can sympathize lol. You'll barely get any touches and if you force it, you won't be able to capitalize at a high rate. Snatchbacks still work well, though. Might as well go pure sharp for the stat padding.

I don't care about being drafted, but I do hope 2k looks at these builds individually. I'm avg'ing 45% from 3 with several blocks and steals per game. Any NBA team would be all over that.


extra side note - I'm pretty sure dimer is the biggest factor in %. Played with some sharp pg's last night and shot 20% from the corner. It's rough without a playmaker.

Well its over. If they ever do this again they need to make it more difficult to enter in the combine. Wayyy too many people had no business being a part of this process. The game mode is awesome. I love the balanced play. The users just made it frustrating. I couldn't even be on the mic anymore, i got tired of dealing with low iq ignorant people and the constant background noise.

I finished with averaging 12 pts 1.5 reb 12 assists 70 games in. (PG) I felt like I played pretty good but there are guys averaging 20 pts and 15 assists. I dont know how they get those numbers. It baffles me. I want to see their film. Comparing the stats on 2klabs it looks like my stat line is pretty average. Oh well back to play now online

The Combine was definitely an experience. Stat wise I feel I could've done a lot better. I would say 6 out of the 11 losses that I had was either from buzzer beaters or games lost in OT. 2k definitely has to implement a new system next year though. Way too many bad players were in the combine and it was frustrating.

2) Played totally selfishly all the time
3) 1+2

I mean damn, 20 FGA per game? Do I have that right? I would be lucky if I got to shoot that much in THREE games with the people who were out there.

I'd be curious to see how the guy averaging 30+ ppg actually played.

If it's a PF or C, then they probably got those points by standing under the rim and forcing their teammates to choose between passing them the ball or getting a three-seconds violation.

If it's a SG or SF, then half of those points probably came from cherry picking on fastbreaks, and then the other half came from driving or cutting into the paint and getting their bad shot selection bailed out with a successful contact layup/contact dunk/foul animation despite one or more defenders being there to contest their shot attempt.

Most of the top scorers played on slashing archetypes because of how easy it was to score in the paint with the combine's mix of sliders/ratings/badges.

I wish that the combine's two-way stretch big was actually a sharpshooting rim protector so that I could have been more of a factor on defense in the paint with that archetype. But there was only so much I could do to stop highly rated/badged out inside scorers when I have bronze defensive badges and mediocre defensive ratings that were probably in the low- to mid-70s at best.

that term low IQ gets thrown around way too often. used to first hear it when fans of the game would call players who played their entire life in multiple systems bad IQ players.

Your first sentence, you have a point. I've met people who say "We need to play better team ball" which is really translation for "Give me the ball all the time" but some people are genuinely out there to do what's best for the unit, and I can say with great certainty that there is waaaay more of the former than the latter when it comes to the combine.

When you are someone who is a good team player and you run into people who are the opposite, it can be upsetting. And that's how I feel like most people are. I don't want to sound like I'm tooting my own horn here, but if my team beat *** down, and my stat line was 6 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, 4 blocks, then I feel good about myself because I was able to contribute to winning besides scoring the basket. And I run into way too many people who are always 1) Calling out that they're open when they're not 2) Telling you ways to get them the ball more often.

Everyone was scared of Sharpshooting archetypes dominating the balanced build of the game. People were scared of Glorified 5-Out coming in to the combine
