Question about Cap breakers

So I created another Center. 7'2 Post scoring, shot creator. Currently level 60.

I came to realize something. Instead of using VC to level up, I'd break caps 1st. My thinking is, since I'm a low level, breaking caps would be easier. I've broke caps already and am halfway to doing it again. Didn't count the XP which was dumb. And didn't pay attention to my other Center who's 90 overall, so idk how long it really took me.

How does cap breaking work? Would a level 60 break caps faster than a level 85?

Yes, and no. To unlock the first few caps it is a lower necessary number of XP to level up, it's not that you're gaining XP quicker by being 60 OVR it just means there's a smaller amount required. Hence, the yes. The no, if you started as an 85 and had all available caps spent already, it'd be the same XP to unlock the first few caps breakers.
