Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
The trailer last week and My Team reveal today was a little disheartening as a member of #simnation. Personally, I don't play My Team or Park/ProAm/etc.
Today's release felt like an obligation to arcade lovers.
An update on Flow Tech would have been amazing!
Across sports gaming I am seeing more games gravitate towards arcade style, I just hope a game for #simnation will always exist, this is why we need Czar and OG.Comment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
Yep looks like guys are still programed to go to certain spots of the floor during the transition defense smh.Comment

Also, why do Tatum and Horford keep running into Giannis as he's going up for dunk instead of stopping?Comment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
If it was 2K18, Horford would have moreso lined up right beside Marcus Smart...so if Horford is running to nothing, it's not the same transisiton issues resurfacing...its as brand new one, lol...
Pretty sure there is someone off camera (another member mentioned it was KAT) Horford was running to. Which tells me theres at least some attention to getting out on the corners on fast breaks....hope so anyway.

That's the basics for transition defense. First guy back protects the hoop. Not runs to the opposite corner of the guy with the ball, lol.Twitter - WTF_OS

It's 3 on 3... Giannis has the ball, and the 2 other guys are just now at half court, you can barely see them enter the frame at the end. There's literally no reason for him to run to the corner. That's just rough.

I've been watching this from my phone though, handn't even realized it was 3 on 3. Kind of throws all of this out of the window in the first place, lol.

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
Does it? There is NO reason whatsoever for Horford to run over in the corner when his guy is at 3/4 court in the backcourt. Basic principles of basketball for transition defense... Stop the Ball handler... Protect the rim... No layups. That's not that difficult. For OG to be in charge of the defense, for this to still be in there for the 4th consecutive iteration...
I didn't play professionally overseas, but did have scholarship offers to 2 small D1 schools, coached from little league up to freshman ball... and the basic principles of defense are to stop the ball, protect the paint, no layups. Horfords guy is at 3/4 court... As he enters half court, THEN he should start shading towards him.
WORST case scenario, he should be at the right block, shading towards helping in the event of a blowby.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
Transition D functions this way because the AI is programmed to guard their man and not the ball. Horford runs to the corner because his man is filling that lane. He only tries to defend the layup after Giannis breaks the hard code line of demarcation that now classifies him as a scoring threat to the AI.
The AI is not coded to guard "space" when necessary (ie transition) save for only a couple of scenarios (the infamous two men running to predesignated areas on transition D, zone defense.)
In summation, the transition ai defense and ai defense in general is just not fluid enough able to defend the user in some situations. And of course their has to be some simulation of "blown defensive assignments" but guys (ESPECIALLY centers such as horford) not protecting the rim in 1 on 3 break is simply no bueno.Comment

Yes, since 2K16, 2K has suffered from transisiton issues, there are plenty of examples....but 3 on 3 gameplay? not sure theres actually anything we can take away here....just like I wouldnt take away anything from a Blacktop game.

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
real small sample size, but discouraging nonetheless. i really hope this isn't a sign of things to come because defense has been **** for way to long, period.Comment
