What happened?

Now we have dark arenas and the crowds cheer loud when its only a few minutes left in the game.

This needs to be brought back.

09 game intro gives me waaay more hype than current lobotomized-Shaq

and once upon a time, PA announcers mattered

That was real dope seeing that with real life commentary. Would be dope if 2K devs can like port crowd audio into the game. And yooooo why does that game look so clear and realistic? �� Is that 2K14 on PC?

Nice 2K9 throwback - good bit of perspective there.....

One of the big annoyances in the new 2Ks for me is when the home team gets a key bucket late in a game and the crowd literally goes DEAD SILENT in response.

It's like a sound glitch that's been in like the last 2 or 3 or however many 2Ks..... this constant audio reminder that something is kind of broken haha.....

Since my thread was closed, Ill just post my ideas for improved atmosphere in here. Feel free to expand on anything or give some more ideas.

*Better crowd reaction overall, but especially for big shots or big plays (If I make a crazy comeback, I want the crowd to react like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqTruoOE_No)

*Same this as above with the commentary (it sucks when you get a crazy block or do a crazy dunk and not only is the crowd silent, but so are the commentators)

*More realistic reactions from players (I absolutely hate seeing Kawhi Leonard celebrating after hitting an uncontested layup mid game as if he was Curry and just hit his 8th three late in the 4th to tie the game) I feel like personality badges should affect whether players celebrate or how players act on the court.

*Better rim sound for dunks (This really needs to be fixed by now)

2k11 and 2k12 were approaching this greatness, it didn't quite get there, but the audio was very awesome for that game. Then they slowly were going astray from 13 and so on.

I am hoping for a major overhaul in crowd noise/sounds/reactions as well.

Crowd atmosphere is such an important part of sports. It surprises me this is not a priority every year.

We've been asking for change since Live10....I doubt anything will change. I still want my custom arena music to come back.

I do like that they added a bunch of bells and whistles for each stadium but damn that "go (insert team name) go" chant. THAT'S THE MOST GENERIC CHANT! For gods sake 2k update that **** or just get rid of it! I never heard a bunch uninterested fans chant.....

Seems like 2K likes to take away features that were in previous games and bring it back as a “new” feature if they ever do...

That's not how development works

DaCzar already explained sometimes features are lost because they are on old systems and don't work with the new

That however doesn't excuse the decade of poor audio

How did you guys feel about the crowd in playoff games or playoff mode? I personally loved it. It still could be way better though obviously... I really really really wish they would bring back the ability to add the sounds back to the game (forget the name of it)! That was insane back in the day uploading the file with all the different markets music, organs, and sounds. Not sure why 10 years later it hasn’t made a return. I agree though 2k crowds need work. More situational awareness. Wish we could have dynamic crowds and fans leaving in a blowout when down 30-40 earlier then within the last minute of the game...

Except it wasn’t only on the “old system”, they had it on the current Gen a few years ago. I just think 2K’s priorities have changed after they introduced the online modes and 2K currency. Perhaps there is not enough disc room now. Before, the focus was all about basketball and the atmosphere/experience but these days it’s about online modes, MyPark etc...
