It was one of many "stat-heads" articles that I read....IIRC, I think the biggest "pro" for Miller was his PPG relative to his usage and touches.

To me, you can make any player "great" with the correct stats.

You just aren't going to get voted in against either of them then it's up to big numbers to get one of the final 3-5 guard spots (which were usually given to guys like Joe Dumars).
      .
I also think this is a bit overstated. I think earlier in his career it was a bit of a tougher feat, but I don't consider the mid-late 90's or the early 2000's to be filled with HOFs. I actually think that was a pretty low point for the league as a whole, at least probably the lowest in my lifetime. More so the early 2000's.

But anyways, some guards who made All Star games over Reggie. BJ Armstrong, Mookie Blaylock, Kenny Anderson, John Starks, Mark Price, Terrell Brandon, Tim Hardaway, Jerry Stackhouse, Allan Houston, Michael Adams, Ricky Pierce, Alvin Robertson, Hersey Hawkins..

So it's not like only future HOFs were knocking him out. Those are all really good players for the most part, a couple likely better than Reggie even, but to my initial point which of those players are held to his regard when people look back on that era of hoops? That's basically the class of players he's more closely lumped with, yet his name is mentioned with the Jordan, Hakeem, Barkely, group rather than that group.

Regardless I don't think making an All-Star game means much. That doesn't make you a good/bad player in my book. I was just stating that he was a fringe All-Star guy, not a superstar status type who was a lock every year.

Also Tayshaun Prince, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom, Glenn Robinson, Hedo Turkoglu, Josh Howard, and a few other notables I can't think of.
I'd love to Glenn "Big Dog" we already have Sam I Am Cassell, Ray Allen and Ervin Johnson.

Would be a fun team to get in the game. Could match them up with the Lakers and Sixers squads.

For me, the argument on whether Reggie Miller needs to be in the game had nothing to do with whether he's an all time great or not. He's an iconic player from a specific era. He was part of intense rivalries. Being in a video shouldn't have anything to do with rewarding a player because of their status. I want players from a specific era that I like to play against or with.

John Starks isn't necessarily a legend but I'd want him in the game. He's part of an era I love. I played this past season with a pieced together 90's Nets team. They're not "legends" but man I wish Sam Bowie & Chris Morris were in the game. Being in a video game isn't recognition for an outstanding career.

Not surprised but it's still pathetic that 2K has shown an unwillingness to support and give back to the retired players considering the ridiculous amount of money they're making.
No offense homie but they compensate these players AND, its not them unwilling to support its them unwilling to start a trend of caving in to players' demands. You want them to do what Chuck says now until all your favorite classic players pull their names OUT with their own special demands. lol

What's wrong with giving money to the retired players association?

It’ll set a new precedent. Players will start asking for more and more. Even if it’s given to charity, it’s just not feasible. I really want Barkley in the game, but I don’t blame 2k for not signing him. He can sign for the 10-50k I’m guessing 2k pays these classic players, and he can give that money to charity.

I agree with all of this. That wasn’t what I was saying. I was a bit off topic with my posts in that regard, but I even said I would love to see either a 90’s Pacers or the early 2000’s Pacers squad in the game. And Reggie on the All-Time Pacers.
