Re: Random NBA 2K19 Details From Mike Wang
I actually read an interview from Mike Wang that said paint defense was so bad in 2k18 that they made layups more difficult . So we saw a lot of blown easy layups.I can’t be the only one who has felt that when a big is trailing or somewhat in the vicinity, sometimes the game gives you the slowest layup animation just so it can get swatted.
Why would I do a hanging double clutch in that scenario instead of something quick and efficient? Those moments are the worst and feel scripted.#1 Laker fan

Yh I saw that too. So at least that means we'll be hitting our easy layups now. He also said interior defense is better this time though, so my guess is unless you're a high lvl slasher, well contested layups will be shut down most times...especially against really good defenders.Comment

A lot of them were deathly slow and gave guys who were out of place time to get a contest

I wish the standing floater came back.
You recieve a pass 8 feet out. Not lay up range, but not really jump shot range either. The ability to flip up a little push shot would be nice.Comment

As a person who uses OKC almost exclusively - this would be great for when I get those types of looks with Steven Adams.Comment

Re: Random NBA 2K19 Details From Mike Wang
WHY TF would they do this? Should've fixed interior defense with a patch, not have people miss layups that should be a make. I have yet to try the new layup meter, but I still think its unnecessary. A made/missed layup should be determined by a players openess/rating/ability to score in the paint and what position the defender is in when guarding against the shot. In front of you, beside you(left or right), behind you(if so, by how many steps? Is this person a chase down, their wingspan, etc). Because nerfing negates the badges "relevance". I also think it's sad to not have layup packages anymore.Comment

2K18 IMO is the first 2K where it really felt fun to "play" in the middle of the floor and navigate through pick and rolls...
If help defense is on point and the defense doesnt have to rely on 'bodying up" so much...it can really go to that next level.

We've been waiting oh so long to see this game go to that next level. It's time for a leap in gameplay. Bout to be 2020 in this mf.2K18 IMO is the first 2K where it really felt fun to "play" in the middle of the floor and navigate through pick and rolls...

Can't help but think this is really on the cards considering the new mechanic (Chris Paul crab dribble where he seals defenders behind him). I'd imagine the middle of the floor will feel a bit more free and less..... sticky..... and hopefully the counter to this freedom will be a more active help defense..... and not the "bodying up" you mention...... hopefully.2K18 IMO is the first 2K where it really felt fun to "play" in the middle of the floor and navigate through pick and rolls...

One irk of mine is when I go around a screen and the AI just slips past it like it wasn't there. I'd like to see screens gone over/under more in stride with the scheme with more reliance on weak side rotations.Comment

Another little annoying thing, might be more relevant to ProAM not sure, is they need animations for people to run out of each other's way/slide past each other instead of running face to face and getting stuck. Like players need to turn their shoulders or some other logical animation. It will still punish you for getting tangled up but not look so stupid and have you stuck for so long.51 & 55

It would be awesome that if when we are the user on defense we had the option to (a. press right stick toward ball handler to go over screen and b. press right stick away from ball handler to go under screen)..EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment
