I didnt like the new engine they're on now, to much sliding, plus the animations they have feel worse than the ones in previous games, they said its not animation reliant, and they want to make it have natural motion, but i just dont think after 17 years, they can start doing that properly with just 2 games, its gonna be at least 5 years before they can really start to make a solid game. Im also an old school retro basketball person, and these new games are clearly geared towards shooting lots of 3's and the dribble drive game, just like today's nba.

Re: Why did you stop playing NBA 2K18?
I haven't been satisfied with a 2k since 2k11.
2k14 was ok.
I still buy it because a lot of people i've had a lot of history with play it, and i'll play it for like a couple of weeks, but then I give up. I skipped buying 2k15 and 2k17 (people bought them for me), and I'm probably skipping 2k19 (2k18 felt like I HAD TO BUY VC. Holy crap, when I went into myplayer it took almost 2 hours before I even got to play an NBA game. WHY?! I'd rather BUY my player to a level that I could easily grind the badges and skip half the cutscenes by being done with mycareer 20 games in). No way I'm paying for 2k19 too.
2k11, the grind for your player felt alright. I made a TON of players in 2k11, even before the hacked crap went widespread, and grinded them all easily. 2k14, it was way slower, but I did it, and got to experiment with all the badges and several shots, and it was fine. I got to play several playstyles on a reasonable investment of time.
2k17 was GARBAGE. Hot. Garbage. The grind took forever, and after I had finally gotten all my stuff myplayer got corrupted on one of their server crashes, and they "replaced" my player with one of equal stats. Sounds good, yeah? Not shots, no dunks, no dribble packages, no shoes, nothing. You know, the things that all cost 3-4 games worth of VC on HOF career mode a piece? Nope, we don't replace that here at 2k, you're SoL.
2k18 was just as garbage. I couldn't bear to make a new myplayer after my first one, the cutscenes man. I got better things to do with my time. And they force you to decide a playstyle without giving you the freedom to experiment with what you want. You can't start off with crap stats, realize driving sucks, and pump shooting and decide to be a shooter. No, you pick a driver, see you ain't making layups after you're maxed out, and then you're just SoL, make another player, watch a million cutscenes again.
I'm imagining based on the trend I've seen, even though they're pushing E-Sports (should be a lower ceiling to become competitive, more of the 2k11 model, instead of the trending upward ceiling to become competitive) it'll still be a mess for that mode. I haven't enjoyed basic online since like 2k9, people are way too cheesy and can look up youtube videos left and right now a days on how to cheese. I haven't enjoyed MyTeam since 2k14 because I realized how much of a wasted investment of time it was when 2k15 came around. So MyPlayer is basically what I'm left with for an enjoyment in any upcoming 2k games, and they're going the opposite way of what i'd enjoy seeing out of my time spent on a video game.Comment

Why did you stop playing NBA 2K18?
still enjoying, still challenging to me
how can you not like that?
I still play but the clipping has been terrible lately especially in your video where Durant spin around and dribbles THRU Solomon then pass it to Draymond. Like c’mon I would have lost my $hit playing against that user.

Re: Why did you stop playing NBA 2K18?
The only things I hated on 18 was the cpu NOT calling timeouts and the horrible mass substitution rotations the cpu makes but other than that, hands down the best bball game ever in my opinion

Re: Why did you stop playing NBA 2K18?
For me it was just that the suspension of disbelief is gone. I've played 2K since 2006 or something, and i'm way too familiar with the animations: the way the ball snaps in and out of player hands when they pass it, the way they run, the way the camera follows the line of path of the ball on replays, the way the light reflects off players, the way a player hand glues to the ball as he dribbles. Know what i mean? It's all too familiar and artificial to me. I struggle to be able to play it as a basketball sim. It just feels like same old 2K videogame every year with some tweaks, and 2K18 was sorta the last straw. Throw in the microtransaction greed and the out-of-the-box MyLeague bugs that made me have to wait MONTHS to be able to play it properly and i just got super disenchanted.
I think I need a new graphics engine or something to be able to enjoy it again, i don't know. That's not gonna happen though because the 2K show must go on. They're a big business now and revamping things is just not on their agenda. I just gotta hope EA can step up. I need something fresh.
No game animates perfectly, without clipping or warping. Even as good as God Of War looks you see video game things, the same with Uncharted 4.
Those are the things you need to accept playing video games.

Posterized LeBron with DeRozan on back to back plays on PNO. If you say I should play offline, I did myleague but those 2 billion dollar contracts ruined the realism and I didn't wanna invest more time into a new myleague.

Re: Why did you stop playing NBA 2K18?
Still playing though I'm strictly an offline player.
18 is my favorite iteration mainly because it's the first game in the series that looks, feels, and plays somewhat like the modern NBA. The ball movement, freedom of movement, ease of getting into the lane, etc. If you have space with an elite offensive player, good things are going to happen. No stone-walling, super closeouts, or a poor defender stopping you consistently in a mismatch. I'm sure it must be annoying to play online where you can't stop anyone but it's great for offline play.
I still have plenty of gripes about the game but it's the most fun I've ever had playing NBA2K and I go back to the Dreamcast original."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Why did you stop playing NBA 2K18?
I stopped playing because after a few seasons in MyLeague half the players in the NBA have pictures, and the other half have the CPU generated likeness that takes over when they change teams.
I sorely miss the old days of player portraits from the neck up.Comment

Re: Why did you stop playing NBA 2K18?
because defense is horrible especially cpu can't stop pick and rolls plays, there are alot bad clipping especially steal ball.. that's it. i am glad that 2k did overhauled on defense gameplay including rebuilt steal system, ai cpu improvement on defense. no more blow by defender.. less clipping for NBA 2k19Comment
