I dont like it because the business model is affecting the experience of other players, such as myself, because the developers modeled their game in order to promote paying. They made the game excessively grindy and that affects everyone else.

I can afford the cost just fine, I just dont agree with paying it. It's not jealousy, it's annoyance.

You either pay it or don't. Like it or not it is what it is

It's like if you're a Browns fan and want new ownership. Are you going to tell everyone who buys a ticket or merch "don't support the Browns, they're scamming you!". I hate the VC crap too, but if you really want change, you need something on a bigger level. You can start the "We don't pay for VC" movement lmao.

Just be rest assured that ruthless company greed doesn't come without PR consequences. 2K still has a reputation/branding to think of. If it gets to the point where VC/grinding becomes unbearable by a large chunk of the 2K community, there'll be consumer backlash. We've already seen it the last couple yrs.

        Re: "Buying your Player"

It is possible to play and win games in MyPark with 60 and 70 overall players on a team. You probably wont get that 100-2 record to start off the year, but I'm guessing you probably wouldn't have gotten it either way.

I had 2 players to start of 2k18 that I put money into. Put one at an 83 and the other at an 85 right away. Didnt really end up using either. Team needed a different position/build so I just started a new guy. My friend who had a 90 overall SF that he grinded also started a new PG and grinded him up to like a 73. Towards the end of 2k18, we were playing MyPark and beating all 90 overall teams with a 73 overall pg, 81 overall sf, and a 68 overall center. And we didnt play much mypark to begin with so it's not like we knew all the usual tricks everyone does. Did we lose just as much? Yeah. But who cares? You can't expect a great record when you're doing that. Do the wins matter more when you beat that team of 90 plus overalls with thousands of games played? I think so.

I understand peoples points but it would be made a lot easier by 2k doing something that most PC games do and even some console games like Fortnite. Make it FREE TO PLAY. Its 2018. It already has the PAY TO WIN model. Just make the game free to play and let people spend what they want on it. Is DOTA 2 not one of the most successful and profitable games ever on a completely free to play model? And that games isnt even remotely pay to win. Is fortnite not raking in the cash? Make it free to play then people can dictate what they want to spend. $60? Well I would have spent that to buy it before so I'll spend $60 in VC. But you also bring more gamers to the table. Everyone gets bored. They find a free to play game cause its... free... then If the game is good enough they get hooked. I did that with Dota without knowing anything about it and ended up putting like 2000 hours in and over $100. But the amount of time I spent on it, it was easily worth a couple hundred dollars. CSGO was like $15. People spend paychecks on weapon skins that do nothing!

So if 2k made it free to play, people have no real reason to complain. Put your $100 in and get 450k VC. Oh that's a lot? You spent 1000 hours on the damn game. Where else can you go and get 1000 hours of entertainment for $100? Or even $160?

Only way I can speak is to not buy the game. First time in 20 years.

I saw the direction the series was headed with the microtransactions and hoped it would change. It didnt.

If anything, I'll buy it used so that the developers wont get credit for it. Who knows. At least NHL 19 is incredibly awesome this year.

wow, that must be the worst post this board has seen so far. and it basically shows that you haven't understood a single thing about this bloody vc issue.

              honestly, watch that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Dwr69T5a5s

it perfectly and in a very entertaining way explains what's wrong with 2k and their business.

Dont say that. 2K may just do it. And if you buy it, it'll signal to 2K that people are willing to pay for such things. What about the others who may want the badges but not grind or pay? Ever think about that? It's unfair and greedy! You have to consider how these things affect them. Don't be a sheep for the corporation... My protest is your protest... It's the principle... I'm not cheap, I'm doing it for the gamers... yada, yada, yada.

there was a time you could buy the badges and buy the upgrade as well.

"You can't give stuff away for free in perpetuity;there's no business model in that.We are convinced that we are probably from an industry view under-monetizing on a per-user basis." - Strauss Zelnick, Take 2 CEO.

"VC is an unfortunate reality of modern gaming.Every game, at some point. in some way has currency and they're trying to get additional revenue from each player that plays the game. You know, the question has to be when does it feel like it's a straight money grab versus when does it feel like it's value added, right?

We know nowadays that most people don't have the patience to work their way to the top. They just wanna be there right away. So,you know,we look at it as,oh it's an opportunity for us to allow you to skip the grind, but then if the grind is too long, like some people felt last year, they're gonna sit there and they're gonna go 'well, you knew the grind was too long to begin with.'"
                      -Rob Jones, NBA2K Senior Producer.

These 2 quotes from that video sum up why I am not a fan of VC.

Personally,I have nothing against the guy who buys a some VC because he doesn't have a lot of time but wants to be competitive; as a grown man, I understand how the real world can be, especially when it comes to hobbies.I also understand that people can and will spend their money on whatever they want to.

On the other hand, when a company basically admits that they make a game with modes expressly designed to be exceptionally frustrating to progress in so that they can take advanatge of people having limited time or patience as an "opportunity" to allow them skip chunks of game they paid full price for as if they're some good samaritan doing people a favor, because purchasing the
game at full price isn't "monetized" enough for them.....then I think it's time to consider whether they're worth your money in the first place.

Sure sounds like a scam to me.....and 2K is fully aware of it.
