Yes, you can't just go to the store, buy a shoe and then scan it into your multi million dollar commercial product. Brands have to sign off on all their stuff, they exchange ludicrous amounts of money for licenses to use their products.

So you're telling for every shoe they have complete paper work? or whatever the "sign off" process means. I thought they just gave them a license at the beginning and then 2k can have at it

No licensing deal just allows a company to "have at it," these are multi billion dollar companies lending out their IP and branding to a product that makes millions of dollars every year of course companies like Nike and Adidas would say which shoes can be put in the game and when. These companies are too large and there's too much money being exchanged to have a guy just showing up to Footlocker buying sneakers and then scanning them into the videogame.

I’ve been working on trying to make good looking sneakers. So far this is what I’ve created..with some crazy colorways haha. Hardest part is not making the tongue look weird.8 gotta work on that.
