Re: Official NBA 2k19 MyLeague/MyGM Thread

Just as an FYI (because it took me like, five ML sims to figure this out):

The way to see the new league rules you can add in there is in the League Meetings screen -- just click on the rule and you'll see a new option called "Replace" which will open up the library of rules that you can scroll/tab through.

The draft lottery tournament they were talking about in the MyLeague blog is the second from the bottom of the "Lottery" tab.

    Any comments are welcome.

Question for anyone that has dived into creating draft classes: Can you copy the DNA from a player on any roster and then go paste it into a draft class you're working on? i.e. could i go get Paul Pierce's DNA, put it into my fictional draft class, and then edit his attributes/tendencies/etc to my choosing? If so that would be such a time saver

According to this video you can only copy face and attributes, no tendencies or sig animations, is this true?

Absolutely, yes, you can copy any DNA from any player on the main roster (or even in historic draft classes) and export that DNA out -- save it as whatever -- than go into the roster/draft class you're working on and import it into the player of your choosing.

To your second question, that is an affirmative for signature animations copying over -- I copied over rookie Blake Griffin (outfitting with his signature animations of course) from the 2009 historic draft class and pasted his attributes into my homemade Charles Barkley as a base.

His signature shots and dunk packages were all there.

I believe his tendencies also copied over, but I didn't check those religiously -- I checked the shot/touches tendencies, as well as rebounding, and those were the same I'm almost 100% sure.

Now, I don't know if you can do that with a regular roster player (like current day Blake) but I can't fathom why they would restrict it -- the player DNA feature is really wide open, more so than I thought.

Note, I'm on PC and I have no idea if we've been hit with the newest patch, so it's possible that the video you reference WILL be the truth for me in the near future HOWEVER the release date of that video was on 9/11 (official release day) and there's been at least two patches since then I believe, so I'm willing to bet that the issues DaInfamous brought up are not currently affecting things.

I have 10 player DNAs saved already and there doesn't appear to be a limit for PC players -- it might not be the case for console players.

            EDIT 2:

Reading the comments on that video, the limit for uploads (AKA Save and Share) are 5 player DNAs -- I'm saving mine all offline, so that's why my save slots appear near infinite.

            EDIT 3:

Just tested out the Import/Export player DNA for regular roster (AKA Current players on regular teams) players using Joel Embiid -- tendencies and signature animations carry over in the Import Appearance+Attributes options, as well as Import Attributes Only option, confirming my previous assertion.

I really hope they patch the ability to access all the palys to make custom playbooks soon.

Also, I really miss the ability to access freelances and offensive settings in scrimmage mode. That's basically where I learn to play the game every year, and right now I suck.

Amazing news! Well this has sold me, i'm gonna buy the game tonight. Fictional draft class making is gonna be great this year.

Thanks for the effort in the writeup btw

Not a problem. I wanted to be as thorough as possible, as I was on the fence myself just a few days ago but the more I saw and the more possibilities I imagined, I just had to pull the trigger.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the draft classes -- it's pretty easy to manipulate it the way you want this time around I think.

First thing that has popped into my mind is to use the faces of obscure D-Leaguer types - guys rated 60 overall in free agency etc - turn them into the young prospects of tomorrow. They're mostly unknown or forgotten players so it'll be really handy for creating new identities in the game. I've been wanting to do this for years. Exciting.

Also glad to hear i can go and copy attributes/tendencies/animations from historic players (but not their face) and use that as a template to create fictional prospects.

I'm on PS4 for what it's worth, keen an eye out

Not true because everything gets copied over, I did it with a Kobe Bryant and had everything, face, attributes, tendencies, hotspots, sigs etc everything was there even his tattoos

It's a real shame that we still can't get players to average 9+ FTAs per game in simulated stats, unless I missed something. I tried almost everything with Harden short of nerfing his three-point tendencies (didn't want to do that; too extreme IMO), but the most FTA I could manage was 5 or so I think.

Looking at shot charts, it seems like the engine can't understand the idea of shooting a ton of threes and a ton of inside shots at the same time. It's either one or the other. They'll "only" shoot 1700 combined 3PA + shots at the rim + FTA; Harden in 2018 shot 2106 combined, and 2199 in 2017.

Maybe next year. Or a tiny chance that a patch could help.

I tried the same thing man. I noticed Giannis was having success averaging 8 free throw attempts per 36 minutes, so I even tried changing Harden's tendencies to more closely resemble Giannis's and literally nothing I did helped...

I thought maybe it's a positional thing, but no matter what position I have Harden play, even if he's a power forward, no luck. I'm stumped.

I think it's because Giannis shoots so few threes compared to Harden, but having Harden shoot more free throws at the expense of his 3PAs would just be one step forward, one step back.
