Yeah, I've pretty much taken it out of my arsenal for now. I'm basically just using the fake baseline spins/fake drives to kinda create my own shimmy instead unless I want to shimmy into an up-and-under.

      • Shimmy Up and Under - Its been my go to for years but now you have more control over the direction you want to finish in. Love it.

      • Post stepback - This one is new this year. You can now fluidly do a stepback out of the post that can be turned into a jumpshot or just drive right by the defender when he tries to close out.

I showed a lot of these moves in the video below vs online opponents:

earv, the drop-step towards baseline dunk was awesome!
Anyone tried face-up drive branch into spin - smooth, easy to pull off?

I am really liking the post-hop fades which triggers my difficult shots badge. So much separation created.

I'm still working on the timing which is a little tighter than the normal post fades that are easy to green.

Speaking of shimmy hooks, might as well practice when the game is out of hand, lol

One thing i do remember when i started playing nba 2k again back in 2k16, was the shimmy hook timing was unique, almost all the release points for the animations where right as your leaving your feet, like your flicking it off, i dont know alot of real players that shoot a hook shot like that. I usually just used the default hook shots, if you know how to position yourself in relation to the defense there very effective, at least in 2k17 and before they were, not so much in 2k18, hopefully they are in 2k19.

Can the player be called for travels on up-and-unders and whatnot?

YUp and it's not just one more!! fade aways and hooks are dangerous again. I can't wait to play more down love. All the moves and even the fakes look very alike.

And by far the biggest thing is the way you contest shots down low. Can't just stand there. You got to contest the shot to lower the chances of it going in.

How do you do elbow swing and dunk? or is that an automatic animation?

You use L2 to pivot (and then release). And then blow by the defender. You also can do the fake using L2 and left stick.

I can already tell some of the moves I'll be chaining together new stuff

Yup, this year is all about reading your defender in the post and using the right moves to beat him. If he likes to just keep his hands up without jumping, you can post fade or post hook all day. Then when he starts to actually jump at your moves, you can hit him with the fakes and up n under.

Soooo many mind games to be played. Best post game in any 2K so far imo.
