It takes a while. But the app is worth it, if you are consistent. I saved 63K VC in 2 months. So you can get 600VC plus Daily Game picks
Just wish they didn't get so stingy/cheap with VC with the app. In 2k17, you could earn up to 2500+VC in a day. Now thats down 600

After 3 games, I think I'm averaging 5pt, 6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. I have been playing on HoF so I can progress badges quicker. I have Bronze Rim Protector, Pick Dodger, Hustle Rebounder(a few games away from maxing to Silver), Bruiser, Defensive Stopper, Brick Wall, and Posterizer. I'm working on 3pt badges now. It'll take a while since low rating. But I should be about 2 games away from getting Catch and Shoot. Then will work on Pick and Pop, then Corner Specialist.

I will pretty much play up to ASW or until I progress to a certain level. Goal is to sign on to a team with high overall pick. Or to potentially pair up with Marcus Young and or Corey Harris. All of us are free agents after year. So might follow one and try to trade for other. That would be a good Big 3. Three 2-way players, those 2 are good scorers, so I could just play within offense.

        Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread

Honestly, I'm having a hard time NOT dominating with my most recent character. In this system the Mavs run the spacing is so good and i have so many playmakers I'm not worried about getting the ball at all. My problem is i see too many off ball opportunities. I had the same problem with my power forward.

For instance: there's a play they run with Luka on the low block in a post up. The way the spacing is set up, I'm on the other side of the court at the 3 point line with a wide open back door cut. My dilemma is do i give Luka the chance to shoot? Maybe he'll miss and I'll get a putback slam? Or if i miss the putback do they get the rebound and get an easy transition bucket because i have to run basket to basket? Or do i Just simply call for the ball when he gets it for the highlight alley oop?

Other scenarios are, I'm on the fast break and have an easy poster in transition, or do i pass to Luka who's on the other side for the wide open middie, and i hope for the rebound/putback?

Maybe Dennis Smith Jr is running a pick and roll, if i stay spaced he could attempt to drive or hit the roll man? Maybe he pops the midrange on the way in? The other option is read his pick and roll, if he drives i can drive opposite and get the perfect oop?

There's so many situations i can just obliterate the defense.

Playing off ball with Luka and DSJ is amazing. So amazing i have a hard time letting them do their own work. Lol

Finally I got my PG Playmaking Shotcreator maxed out with badges.
Everything is max, alpha dog was really difficult to get.
Most of the time, I just did not have enough rebounds...

Now only one goal is left: to hit 99, currently 93 ovr!

            Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread

I think I'm 6 games in. I just got 6th man even though I don't really deserve it. I'm averaging 5pts, 5.5 rebs, and 1.2 blocks. I'm never aggressive on offense early in career, I always play within system and try to score off of hustle points. I have been focusing on badges. I gor Bronze Posterizer, Defensive Stopper, Rim Protector, Brick Wall, Catch and Shoot, Pick Dodger, Bruiser, Hustle Rebounder, and Quick Reflexes. I'm a set of practices from getting Pick and Pop. I'm 2-3 games away from Silver Defensive Stopper and Hustle Rebounder.
After Pick and Pop, I will work on Corner Specialist and Pick and Roller. So easy to get badges to bronze. If you get 3 star per drill, you can get a bronze badge in 2 practices. If not it'll be 3 practices.

When I started I spent saved up VC on athleticism, defense, and 3pt to a decent level. Since then, I focused on secondary ratings since they were cheaper and necessary. Initial Max of
Layup, Dunk, and got others close to initial max. But I really need to continue to focus on athleticism mainly for defense. I am good with switching on defense. But I don't feel Im quick enough to stay in front of ball handlers. So I will focus on athleticism. I just got to 75 OVR. So I will create my custom jumpshot. With that, Bronze Catch and Shoot, Pick and Pop, soon to be Corner Specialist, I should be able to shoot with confidence. Especially with CP3 and Hardens Gold Dimer and PNR Maestro(HoF for Cp3).
One thing I do love this year is the emphasis on switching on defense. As a player who loves to set screens, I set them early in the set so I can give the ball handler a mismatch.

Ideally, I would like to progress to a 90 before next season. But I have no desire to buy VC at all. I'm at 75. So I'll see where I'm at by ASW. I want a good contract and be able to adjust lineups/plays and suggest trades early onto next team. More I think, the more I want to pair up with Marcus Young and/or Corey Harris. I rather they had opposite positions. Corey plays more like a Pag where Young plays like a SG. But definitely want to pair with Young. He is a aggressive scorer, with Gold Dimer ans PNR Maestro. We would be a deadly two man game. Corey seems to be a elite two way defender. Would just need a center who can defend and rebound and a sharpshooter at SF and we'll be a great team

Quick tip for the pick and pop badge, since you don't already have great shooting attributes: You don't have to take the jumper. As long as you run over the spot on the floor, it doesn't matter where you shoot from, and your teammate will only pass it to you once you run over that spot.

What I do is run outside the three point line after setting the screen, then cut towards the basket. If you run over the spot on your way towards the basket, you'll get the pass for an easy dunk/layup. You still get credit for making the shot, so it's super easy to three star the drill, even with low shooting attributes.

That drill is super easy. You don't even have to even make a shot. As long as you successfully set a screen 8 of 10 times, you'll get 3 stars. Having Catch and Shoot helps. But that drill is easier since CP3 is always the ball Handler. With his gold Dimer and HoF PnR Maestro, I have no problem making shots in that drill

Finally someone responds lol. Yeah man it really was. I was like is 2k really doing this. Don’t get me wrong, I know the story or prelude is scripted but to blatantly prevent me from using my takeover by having my team and the opposing team call timeouts just to keep me from scoring or just playing in general is really petty. I’ve reached out to a YouTuber about it and we’ve been discussing what happened. It’s crazy man. I ended up finishing the game but that part really took me out of it.

Especially against the flying dragon or whatever his name is. That game is already ridiculously frustrating because he's so far above your level, and it's pretty much impossible to beat him off the dribble or contain him on defense.

That's the one thing I didn't care for in Prelude. I didn't like how they souped up characters. Young, Harris, Flying Dragon, Vlad the Impaler, and Smoke and Mirrors were all pretty much rated 90 OVR in Prelude. Besides Harris, no way should they have been that good in the China and G-League. Pretty much saying that Young was only in the G-League because of his "Me-First" attitude.

One thing I haven't liked about My career last few years is the goal for users to buy VC. Our players are always touted as phenoms yet we start out as 60 OVRs. No way should our athleticism start out so low and us improving it around 20 points. No one goes from 60 speed to 80+. That's the one thing, I liked about Live is that you start out around 70 OVR with your athleticism pretty much peaked

My thoughts exactly. This year, you're not touted as the next coming, so it makes sense to not be amazing from the start. But, like every other year, you start out as someone who has no business even playing a pickup game, much less being on a professional team. You can't shoot, dribble, pass, or defend, and you're slower and weaker than everyone else on every team.

That's why I didn't mind this year especially since you're starting in China then G-League. So it makes sense to start under 70.
My thing is that it is one thing you are limited to the type of player you can have due to archetypes, it is another to not be able to do anything starting out. Even lowest players in NBA can do one thing well. Least give me a set athleticism and have me work on other ratings. I just don't like how Online affects MyCareer for offline users. I don't play online, so I don't like the heavy restrictions. I don't want a 7' demi-god, I just want to be able to create the player I want too. Like if it wasnt for badges, most secondary archetypes are useless. Where I wouldn't be comfortable shooting 3pointers with a rating under 75.

I agree, whatever your archetype, you should start with at least a 70 in that category. If I'm a slasher i should start with a 70 dunk and vertical. Sharps should start with a 70 3ball and midrange.

They actually did this in the earlier careers. I think it was 2k11 you picked something like Athletic and you started with a 70.

To me the dumbest thing is that you have to grind to be a halfway decent free throw shooter. It's like saying every rookie starts out being an awful free throw shooter.
