    Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread

What is everyone’s shooting and layup template?

I currently mirrored all my players moveset after Michael Jordan. It’s nice that 2K has his template.

I’ve also messed around with a Durant and Harden moveset as well.

I have been using Klay base, Curry's release 1, and a generic release 2. I wanted a fast release since I wasn't great at timing. But since I'm using Real FG %, I can switch it up to something else.
I wish I could have a layup package. I'm stuck with Default Big layup. I need at least 70 Driving Layup for packages. I'm stuck at 68 or 69. I checked and I'm about 2 cap breakers away from next layup upgrade.

Just reached 92!! I want to take a few days off 2K and play other games, but I’m hooked so hard to this years version.

          Most I’ve played since 2K8-2K11.

I have a blend of MJ and one of the generic jumpshots as my shot. I was using Kyrie for layups but just recently switched to MJ and I like it so much more. Don't have his dunk package though

Height/length is really overpowered in career, on HOF Porzingis will get 40+ every time simply becausd his fades and layups are considered open. Check out what i had to do to beat the Knicks. For some reason Giannis wouldn't sub back in the 4th QTR or OT.

I played a lot better on defense later in first season and first couple games of 2nd season than in early rookie year. Mainly because I'm more disciplined and stopped giving up amount of easy plays. BUT all that doesn't matter when facing Porzingis and Giannis. I'm surely giving up at least 40 points. It doesn't help that I'm undersized. KP is 7 inches taller, so only time I can truly affect his shot is on a layup or dunk. Giannis would be a tough matchup if he was 6'8 with his ratings. But at pretty much 7' he is a cheat code. I literally cannot stay in front of him. I either get put out of position or he blows by me with ease. I just wish as a undersized PF I had more athleticism. I still feel sluggish on the Floor. With most of the non-stretch 4s being athletic, I don't really feel like I have the athleticism to keep up with them

I don't know how to be come a legit defender. I'm ice skating all over the place whenever I try to change directions. Good thing I don't play online cuz people would have my number so quick. I don't get it either, my attributes don't indicate a bad defender. At 89 ovr, I'm quick, fast and lat. quick is decent yet my D game looks like it hasn't improved since my first game. Frustrating.

I’m pretty good defender, where I give up a lot of my points is when the cpu takes shots off those trash *** moving screens and the almost unstoppable under the rim shots where no matter how good of position you have the cpu scores or those ******* plays where the cpu switches for no reason or gets between you and your man. I dodge almost 20 picks a game and that’s not counting the one you magically get pulled into or the ones where the game pulls you the opposite way you’re trying to get to get past the screens. Obviously there’s a lot of bs things you notice playing MC.

There’s a problem with any big, or any post player...they somehow become Hakeem or Dirk with the up and unders and post fades with ease...there’s no reason for DeAndre Jordan to hit post fades from the high post or the baseline from 17ft or shake a solid defender out of their shoes for an easy layup/dunk.

                          Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread

Played the first 2 games of second season, good early returns from requesting for Marcus Young and Corey Harris. I enjoyed playing with Kemba last year. He was good for 20-25+ pts a night, but scoring was the only thing he brought to the table so we weren't winning games. Marcus Young is on a different level. He's more of a Combo guard than a true PG. He is a more efficient James Harden who can play defense. First game he exploded for 43 points and most of that came in first half. He doesn't seem like he will average more than 4 assists. But his efficient scoring makes up for it. Corey Harris's defense and passing on the wing really helps us. First game he had 15 assists and 5 steals. Only issue with him, is that I might have to force him the ball. First game, he only had 8 attempts. So the second game, I passed him the ball alot more. He had 17 attempts, but I had just 9 attempts. Young is going to put up 20+ attempts, that seems like a given. So I have to find a balance between me and Harris. But it ia good thing to know that I don't have to force up 25-30 attempts to win a game. With Young and Harris, my goal is to put up just 12-15 attempts and upping my assist numbers. Only thing about Young and Harris is that they aren't as good with Free Throws as I imagined. At 81, I'm the best with FTs on starting lineup, which isn't ideal. Another thing, I like with not having a current NBA superstar, I don't have to hear the same canned commentary every game. I got tired of hearing about James Harden and CP3 every game then to hear about Kemba every game. At most, they will mention a line or 2 about one of us when we score.

I have my minutes set at 32. Last year, that didn't work. I was still getting 39-42 minutes. First two games, the 32 minute cap worked. I only got 30 minutes in second game because they sat me out in a blowout in the fourth quarter. I was closing in on first triple double. But I rather not get it, then to have to play 40 minutes a game. I'm still debating on when I want to suggest trades for bench players. First 2 wins was 30+ point wins and bench played well. But first 5-6 games are against easier opponents. So not a true test yet to see how we play when Harris and Young isn't on floor against a good team. I like Monk as the primary bench scorer. But Tony Parker and Batum are getgi getting older and slower as two way players and aren't as good with shooting. I feel we could good get more size, younger, more athleticism, and better shooting on bench. I still like Jevon Carter and a rookie 6'10 two way SF. I will wait until a few games against good competition. Mainly because not sure if I have to sim a few games for it to work like it does with us requesting trades.

I'm at point where I'm pretty much done grinding. Only badges I have left that I care about is Chase down Artist, Corner Specialist, Pick Pocket, and Mid Range Deadeye. I actually going to work on Charge Card to Bronze. Not that I'm going to attempt them. I'm just working on it just to get it out the way because it is very easy to get. Main badge I want is Mid Range Deadeye. It will be the hardest one since Deep Deadeye wasn't easy. But since it is only Bronze I can get, it should only take me 3 sets of practices. Once I max those badges, I'm done with Practices. This season should go by quickly. Since I'm not grinding towards anything and could max remaining badges in practices, I will sim games when they become blowouts in 3rd quarters.

I became a better defender once I switched to Superstar. HoF was too much CPU cheese for me. Now I do see my Gold Defensive Stopper and Rim Protector affecting shots. Where I do give up a shot here and there and I fail to stay in postion off the ball. But most of points I give up either feel like BS or against star player badges overpowering my defensive badges. I hate when I get sucked into screens. With Gold Pick Dodger, I shouldn't get stuck on a screen unless I'm late reading it. I hate it when CPU runs the same play over and over and I know what's coming so I try to jump the play and still get sucked into screen. Or when teammates don't commit to the switch. They call for the switch and stay with their man and my guy scores. The thing I don't like is when I get pulled out of position. I hate when the CPU is either jab stepping or pump faking and I don't bite on it, I still get pulled out of position and still give up a easy bucket

Luckily there aren't as many back to basket bigs anymore. Which is why I made a undersized PF. It is more important to defend on perimeter than on the block. But when they do post up, its some bs. The really need to tone down post shot success for CPU. Closeouts on post fades are alittle better this year compared to last. But it stil almost always a guaranteed "Open" shot.

In season 3, in the pick and roll and post mismatches LeBron is unstoppable...he’s shooting 80% to start the season last year he shot 74% and the year before that he shot 70%...he has 61 attempts from the low block and at the rim in 8 games making 54 of them. Porzingis is the same way...he kills in the post when the cpu and when Ball drives and kicks he’s money from 3 too shooting 71%(56% from 3).

Harris needs to be more aggressive with his touches only attempting 8 fg per game. Ball is playing well offensively but more importantly defensively averaging 2.3 spg. Ingram is doing what he needs to in his time in the court while not really excelling at any one thing.

Kuzma is the odd man out at the moment, with Porzingis starting at the 4, Whiteside at the 5 and Me, Ingram and Butler coming off the bench LeBron bounces between the 3 and 4 depending on if Whiteside and Porzingis are on the floor together, he doesn’t really get any significant run and doesn’t produce much when he does shooting 39%(19% from 3) and averaging 4.3 ppg.
