    Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread

Haven't played in a week. Had a good team win in a comeback victory against Pistons. Several times in game where we fell back to 8-12 points. But we kept it close. I continue to struggle against athletic 4s. Blake Griffin had a good game. My issue is despite Gold Pick Dodger, I get stuck on screens that I see forming. But this is a game where requesting Corey Harris and Marcus Young was a good idea. With 3 two-way players, we can get stops and score in bunchs. We scored 133 points, but 100 of those points came from us 3. We had at least 24 points each, with Marcus having 48 points!. We only had 1 other player in double figures.
We have started 5-0. I still want to request trades for backups. We don't have a issue scoring. We have averaged about 127 points with our big 3 being able to score 80+ a night. Our main issue is depth and lack of athleticism on bench. We have 4 centers in rotations. So they're times where I get slid over to SF and we have 2 centers on court. I have 2 perimeter players in mind. I'm pretty much waiting until our first loss to request trades. I will sim a few games after I trade to see if that helps

Superstar and 12 minute quarters. I think since I'm at a 90 my progress bar still moves. I think I get about 3-4% a game. But that is because I'm not trying hard as before. Marcus Young is good for 40 points a night if he doesn't get cold or foul trouble.
I think you're at the point where you going to have to spam to get decent progress after games. Like attempting charges, combining sequences to get more MyPoints(Anklebreaker + Hard Drive+ relentless finisher). It seems to get to 99, you're going to have to play some serious hours or spam like crazy. You're stats show you're grinding hard. But that is B.S. that you only get 1% for that type of performance

It is ridiculous. I'm not a hardcore gamer. I'm not going to play 3-5 hours a day. I'm lucky to get 1-2 hours every other day. There's times where I go 3 days-week between playing. So I didn't even bother grinding to 99. I want to be able to enjoy the game.
My main frustration is that I probably won't be able to improve key ratings until I get to 92-95 OVR. I'm stuck with a 68/69 Mid Range & 3pt. I'm stuck with a 69 Layup/Shot Close. As a undersized PF, I'm won't be athletic enough to guard elite 4s until I'm almost maxed. I understand how they tied in ratings to capbreakers to allow it to raise your OVR in a certain pattern. But come on, its suppose to be MyPlayer. We should have have more control over our player. I want to be able to choose which ratings I want as a cap breaker like in 2k16 I think. As a LDD/Sharp, the last ratings I want to worry about is Post, Pass, Ball Handling, and rebounding.
It seems like if you truly want "MyPlayer". Then you're better off doing a offline MyLeague

              I hear you...

Also a primary lock, secondary sharp and feeling the same way. At 93ovr and my 3 pt shooting is still less than 70 (I believe 70 on contested) and it is frustrating. Not sure if I would've made him knowing how long maxing his ability to do his secondary strength at an above average rate would take. 2k is the game that I play 95% of my gaming time, but the slow progress to each reward is becoming boring to the point that I'll have to think really hard about buying 2k20.

At some point, I figure I'll post about my feelings regarding the whole 2k/MyCareer experience, but it's gonna be a long list as to where, I feel, 2k needs to make changes; as this game is gearing more and more to 'pros' and YouTubers (many of which assuredly pay to have builds grinded for them).

I have a stretch first with post scoring secondary. He only has a 66 three rating right now and I play on Pro but i have no problem getting greens when open. I also made him 7' so there are times when I just straight shoot over people.

I'm waiting to see if I need to start my season over if Dennis Smith Jr. gets traded.

They say he's coming back to the team but it really makes me disinterested if I'm just going to have to restart. Especially if we get a good trade or something. If it's a bad trade, I still might restart just to keep it realistic.

                  Agreed
But I knew what I was getting into. I knew that at most. I would get is 73 3pt(default arms) and that it would take until 96 or so to max. I figured I had no issues scoring with Lockdowns especially as a big. You can get 15-20pts at least just from being aggressive and hustle points.
I have no regrets with this build though. Its not like the build I had last year. I did a LDD/SC just mainly for decent Mid Range for a center. But I immediately regreted it but stuck with it. I like my 2-Way build. It does its purpose. Where I can be effective on defense with ability to stretch the floor on offense. I take about 4-5 Threes at most a game. So If I make 1-2 I'm happy. Silver shooting badges and FT ace really helps. But with a Two-Way build you almost have to play with a Gold Dimer. Main reason I requested for Marcus Young was because he has Gold Dimer and could score. But the funny thing is that Corey Harris tends to be the main assister.

But I do agree with hesitation with 2k20. I want to see a change in My career before I buy it. They can't continue to make Pro-Am/2k League to affect MyCareer as a whole. They should just seperate it. I'm a offline player, I shouldn't be so restricted and have to grind for a very long time just to max a key rating. Like you, 2K is the game I spend the most tme on each year. But most of that time is just grinding. This is the first time I just stopped at 90 and just enjoyed playing a simulation style of game instead of spamming to grind. I might skip 2k20 if I don't see major changes because it feels like in a whole 2k has peaked and waiting to overhaul once new generation starts. I'm not hardcore basketball fan. I'm more into Football but our only option for Football doesn't cut it. I'm not a big enough fan to do a offline Player lock MyLeague.

Thats what I did last year. I didn't want to get fully invested into a career if there was a major trade to occur. So I didnt even start until All Star Weekend. But by doing so I only played the game for 2 months.
I felt like it wasn't big deal this year. You still see trades that don't make sense in first year. And by 2nd year, league looks mostly different anyway.
I'm at the point where I'm just going to stick it out with my current player until I'm tired of playing 2k this year. I don't feel like going through grind again. I'm at a 90 OVR. I don't see myself getting to 95. I pretty much just play a game here and there now. I had plans on possibly doing a Player Lock MyLeague. Even then, I don't necessarily have the interest in it

Stupid me when I signed my first contract I left it at 4 years so won't be able to negotiate a max deal till then unless what I've heard about them coming to me with a new max deal if I win MVP are true?

I have a player lock ML with the Grizzlies right now. It’s definitely a better experience gameplay and freedom wise but the little things in MC are missing which makes it always a second option once I get tired of the nonsense in MC.

                            I can see that.
There would be more freedom and ability to adjust sliders would make gameplay better. Best thing would be the freedom to create the exact type of player you want. I'm not interested in no 7'7 350 demi god. But you'll have the ability to create an unique player like Giannis
The only thing I would miss from MyCareer from where I'm at is being mentioned by commentators. I'm an offline player so those aspects don't matter. But I would do it once I'm tired of my current player

I got a tip from iPodCarter to negotiate 1 year deals and take less VC for the 2.0 multiplier.

Best deal you can get is 1100vc for 1 year. Then you gradually raise your multiplier.
