Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread
Just created a new PG last night. He's a 6'6 pure playmaker with Ball handling maxed as much as they'll allow right now. I'll tell you that 88 speed with ball is amazing. You can completely tell the difference. At only a 75 off ball speed right now I'm already flying down the court. I really think this game feels different when you're fast. You can affect the game in so many ways.
I decided to go to the Knicks because they're terrible and i wanna take a terrible team all the way. So far only the warriors have posed a problem as KP is averaging 35PPG right now. We're like 6-1 starting off. I'm already averaging a double double and am looking to lead the league in assists every year i play. Gonna try and be a low 20 ppg player and try and elevate the team.Comment

Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread
Nope. For some reason a lot of people are being able to adjust rotations before they are a 90 now. I don’t know what changed but it seems like it just started happening a few days ago.

Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread
I could do my teams rotation/minutes from year 2 onwards, played about 15 games my rookie year, only rated 76 or so. This was like 2 weeks ago too, not sure what triggers it but it is definitely different from the 90 ovr thing where you can suggest trades/free agentsComment

Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread
Has anyone requested a trade yet? I'm not starter yet. Is there a chance I can get traded and become a starter there? I'm only at 10 games into the season but the Bulls are 100% interested and the Lakers are just not the best spot for me as a SG considering Harris is a 92 and I'm an 87.

Yeah you can. I was actually with the bulls and requested and trade to the lakers. The lakers were to OP in my opinion so I went back to the bulls.

When you sign a contract and the team gives you the Franchise Player role, then you get control over roster minutes.Comment

If you want a cheap option and who is a free agent at the end of the season, i'd look into Willie Cauley Stein.Comment

Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread
You have to lead in blocks, pts, rebounds, assists, and steals in games. You can't even be a joint leader in a category, you have to lead them outright. It took me up until the 3rd game in the first round of the playoffs to get it, although zach tweeted that they've boosted the xp for getting it now. Most of this was achieved earning 850 xp per game on HoF, and now they are paying out 3200 xp for achieving it on HoF.Comment

Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread
It finally occurred to me why their game design model in MyPlayer with the VC and leveling is inherently designed to frustrate.
It uses an RPG concept, but it doesn't work without proper scaling. In a game like Dragon Age or Skyrim. You start at level 1. But you're going up against level 1 enemies along the preset path of the missions or scripted encounters. You waver and explore off the beaten path, you might get your head bitten off because you were still just a level 6 and there's a level 30 dragon over there. So don't go over there until you're ready.
But the game doesn't let you grind up your skills before you actually make it to the NBA. Now you're forced to play against that level 30 dragon in the form of Bradley Beal or a top tier enemy like James Harden. And you're still at the bottom rung.
You get victimized and since the game's reward system is TIED to your performance, the game penalizes you. And you have no advantages you can exploit. My 6'7" SG is slow, can't jump, won't make a jumper unless I have excellent timing, and Lord forget trying to hit a crossover. And I'm a playmaking shot creator. I should have above average handle and mid-range game at least by default.
And to make matters worse...narratively there's zero reason your character should be this bad at everything. A 60 overall player is barely a 15th man. Such a player would rarely even be active. But I'm a key rotational guy because I somehow got to start for the Lakers? Yeah, if I went and bought about $20 in VC to bump my guy into the mid 70s perhaps. Sure.
The game demands that I buy VC to just keep my head level. That's unacceptable that they keep doing this every year. Every single game should boot up the first time with about 60K in VC to do what you will, if they must insist on this garbage concept. And maybe the game would've been like that. Maybe there was a code for that...but I decided not to buy NBA 2K19 first. I wanted to play it from GameFly. I might buy it...because the gameplay is very fun...when I can actually do the things an NBA player should be able to do.Comment

Re: Official MyPlayer/MyCareer Thread
Quick question on shoes. I just started and didn't feel like waiting on a deal so I bought the OG hyperdunks from FL. When I try them on in the store there's like 5 different colorways to chose from. However, once I'm playing it seems like I'm only getting to play in Black on the road and White at home. Is there any way to change the colorway at all? Or is that something I don't unlock until later?Comment
