LOL..I don't now about that dude. The park is in essence a TEAM game man and not everyone in the park has a crew to run with. Those who don't have a crew have to play with randoms and that good team player's results depends on his teammates. I've played with 80+ players who play no D , don't pass and take terrible shots. We can't control what our teammates do and my sf build is not some ball hogging gunner.

Re: Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.
my record atm is 28-62
why?
i play with my IRL friends who just want to have fun and dont understand bball or etc.
the other thing is, i play with anyone. i used to play comp in games and be a stat nerd. im 27 now, thats no longer fun. while losing to horse**** isnt fun. at least i get to play.
of my 62 loses like 10-15 are a direct result of me
plus i noticed that when you separate some of these people with godlike records away from their friends who carry them, it ends bad for them.
people are so quick to say losing record = bad player. but never think about the reverse effect to that. cause i seen bums with 50-20 records
Seems too many taken their record waay too seriously. In thd end, I know I'm, at very least, okay (some would say I'm good), so I don't worry about my record. Hell, playing with 'randoms' gives me the chance to work on fitting in with anybody.PSN: KarlMarx24Comment

Re: Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.
I always said it was a bad idea when they started to show records at the start of the game.
It's not a real representation of how good somebody is. Takes 2 other players to win a game.
The record snob thing is funny though, because people duck competition now more than ever to keep their records looking good.Last edited by The Gym Reaper; 09-17-2018, 11:21 PM.⛹🏽💀

Re: Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.
I couldnt agree more. They should show your avg teammate grade. This would incentivize playing team basketball and replace record snobbery woth teammate grade snobbery, something i think would be a drassstic improvement for this community.
Also lol - the irony of those of you responding you wouldnt play with the 10-68 person in a thread about how records have ruined the flow of park is hilariousComment

Re: Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.
I think the answer is simple and has nothing to do with the cages. I'd guess that there's about the same amount of people playing (or wanting to play) park this year.
However, in 2K18 and before, the parks had their own servers (not sure if that's the right term here, but you know what I mean). That means that the people who were in the park area, made a decision to go to the park and those areas would fill-up. In this year's game the park is integrated with the neighborhood, so a good proportion of the people in the park area are actually doing other things. I'd bet that if the park was sectioned off like the cages (or previous games' parks), you'd see crowds like you're used to seeing.NBA: Wizards

Re: Why Is The Park So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages ...
I’m a longtime park player on the Xbox. I am wondering where is everyone at this year? In 2K19, there is usually always only 3 courts in the park busy. The rest empty. Yet when I go to The Cages, it’s completely crowded. This is where everyone is at, I guess?
I thought about all of this and believe I may know why everyone only wants to go to The Cages (losses don’t count on your park record). Also, especially because the main park is full of record snobs. If your friends are not online and your record isn’t “godly”, it’s nearly impossible to squad up with other good players. You will have to squad up with very low level players and end up losing a lot.
The 2K park community is notoriously all about “ godly “ records nowadays. If you’re are even new to the park and still have 0 wins, you can forget about squading up with good players. You’ll just to go on a search to find friends who do not mind playing with new Park players or low tier players.
Long gone are the good ol fun days when games started quickly... people would hop on any got next circle (2K15- 2k17) and play with anyone else on got next ready to play ball. Nowadays at the park it’s all about people pulling up their players phone spending 20 long minutes checking to see if their invitee (or the person next to them on got next) has some “godly” record.
I will even admit, I myself use to be a record snob. I spent a lot of time in 2K18 keeping my record great and avoiding negative record players. I have come to realization that being a record snob kills the park. Less and LESS people are playing there … everyone only cares about The Cages since losses cannot affect your record and so many people cannot get into squads with others.
If people weren't so busy worrying about silly fake records, the park would be BOOMING 24/7. Yet, most park players do not even want to play together because everyone is extremely scared if their record gets messed up. Even those low 60's players now only want to join people with amazing records.
What ever happened to those days when no one cared about a fake basketball video game record? Records sadly now mean absolutely everything to some people. A friend of mine wouldn't even let me add a 51-60 guy to our squad since he had more losses than wins. Yet, the 51-60 player was extremely smart at basketball after watching him play.
When will all of this stop? Record snobs are completely killing the park. Sadly, soon we'll only games like The Cages left since everyone is running away from the main Park.
I think you just need to accept it for what it is -- people don't wanna lose, and that doesn't look like it's gonna change. That doesn't make them a record snob, it probably just means they're sick of running with braindead crackhead randoms with zero bball iq. If a random is shooting like 40% and win% is bad, sorry I ain't runnin' with you. It's not just about the 'record', it's about having fun too, and when you're running with crackhead randoms, that ain't fun virtual basketball.Comment

Re: Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.
You have got to be kidding me (or not?) or new to 2K's park (or you don't play it quite often)?
You have never ran into players with more losses than wins but YET, still awesome IQ. When paired with the right teammates some have even carried their team to park wins. In 2K18's park (which I've played religiously everyday) I've seen this over and over many times.
As far as the lack of players, I agree. This is why last year's walk-on was ideal. No one saw records, you hop in a game, boom. Now even pickup pro-am (JRC) is showing records (and slow to start), and people backing out if they see someone with a bad record. Looks like 2K19 will be the year of the "friends list". Which, I guess I'm not hating... it means a slower process to get into the games, but with the amount of randoms I ran with last year, probably less yelling at crackheads.Last edited by Keith01; 09-18-2018, 07:22 AM.Comment

Re: Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.
Every year I try to give park a try and every year it ends up being sideshow. Mainly because if you don't have a regular squad you wait forever to play. I have never paid attention to my record. I play with anyone because this is a game and I DON'T WANT TO SPEND IT WAITING TO PLAY.
For some reason over the last few years this has been the move of 2K towards more and more waiting due to the 'immersive' nature of the game, rather than just letting us use an automated matchmaker to instantly start games. To me this ruins Park more than anything else. It's not as big a deal to play with a braindead teammate if you know it wont' take 20 minutes to play another game. But as it is that realization that you just waited all this time and now your 5 minutes (maybe) of gaming time will be ruined by an idiot and then its back to waiting forever sucks.
At least with rec center I wait just a couple minutes and then get 20 minutes of playing time. And even though there are plenty of idiots in that mode too, its less likely that all 5 players will be idiots.Comment

Re: Why Is The Park So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages ...
Wow...so a random equals a bum and/or low IQ player? That's the dumbest thing I ever heard. I played with people with high records and overalls, and they are the WORSE in my opinion. They abuse every exploit in the game, ballhog, and jack up nothing but 3's. The experience is worse if you're a big, because then they expect you to give them screens all the time, but you'll RARELY get a pass when you cut. Park is all about the dribble moves and 3PT shot.Last edited by ksuttonjr76; 09-18-2018, 12:18 PM.Comment

Re: Why Is The Park So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages ...
I think a good analogy is how the same 'record snobbery' has killed boxing. Boxing used to be americas most popular sport! Even in the 90s it was part of the popular conscience. Now? You hear about 2 fights a year with guys you wouldnt recognize on the street.
Why?
Because every boxer is taking every route possible to maintain the best record possible, and its ruined boxing. No one will fight because everyone is terrified of losing their undefeated record. No one wants to watch because even when they do fight, everyone is too scared to trade punches because they dont want to risk getting knocked out.
The problem is, boxers are worried about getting concussed by men trained to knock people out. Were playing a virtual basketball game. Where the worst case scenario is a 5 minute game where you lose.
And even if you lose, you still get VC and mypoints.
Like imagine if you were at a park and refused to play until you saw someones basketball credentials? Youd be laughed off the park. You go to the park to play basketball. You play with whoevers there. If you play a game and someone is trash - you find a new man for the next game. You dont sit on your phone and text all the best basketball players you know so you have the best possible chance to win.
I go to the park IRL and in 2k for the same reason - because i want to PLAY.Comment

Re: Why Is The Park So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages ...
My experience in park has changed over time. Historically I ran in a duo or trio so we were less exposed to randoms. My win percentage as a duo or trio is likely much higher than when i'm running as a random.
This year, I changed my build. I got tired of running as a small guard, so went 6'7 and it has drastically changed my park experience. I'm able to do it all on the court, so I just sort of fit in. I'll say that i've probably been lucky so far this year through the 25 games i've played. I think i'm 14-11, with probably 13 of those comes coming as a duo, and 12 as a duo. Percentages baout the same for both. I've probably only played with 2 or 3 REALLY bad players.
To me, you do have to pay attention to record somewhat. It's not perfect, but it is an indicator. I don't hold negative records against people, understanding that not everyone gets the benefit of duo'ing up with people, but I am wary of atrocious records. And yes, often-times, people with good records are trash too. I tend to walk off those teams if we win.
And even if you lose, you still get VC and mypoints.

Don't agree with this part of the analogy! Nothing worse than going to the gym to play, having to wait 30 minutes to get on, to get ran off the court because everyone on your team sucks. Gotta be selective there too..NBA: Wizards

Re: Why Is The Park So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages ...
I play with my cousin and one of my friends from high school. My cousin had the issue where his vc from the legendary edition didn't show up till days later. But he still wanted to go to the park. We lost like 20 games in a row his player was getting overwhelmed and we didn't have the shooters to make up for his short comings. So my record is cooked for the year. First thing I hear when I get on the mics is wooow look at their records or lol you a 90 for nothing.
It's hilarious. We can only play with each other at this point. Rip

my record isnt a sign of how i play.
its funny how a " TEAM" Record is treated the same as a "SOLO" record.
just like on cod. a WIN LOSS RECORD should be treated differently from a KDR. one is team based the other is solo.Comment
