I totally get how records can be deceiving and its not an indication of how "some" people play, but its all you have to go on. Overall, stats, badges and record. I agree, all of them can be somewhat misleading but there is nothing else to go on.

I just want to have a CHANCE to win the games I play. Having to play with people i do not know (hate the random term)....the record is my only guide.

    A common occurrence:

Being a shooter wide open on one side of the court, watching a slasher double teamed at the perimeter jack up a three is just too much..... and NOT fun. I'd like to avoid those scenarios if at all possible.

My dude is a 78 OVR right now. Last night there was one spot open on the court, other two guys were similarly rated...both immediately bounced. It’s like middle school gym class. Between my players growing pains and playing with 60-rated players, my record is done.

Right. But thats not the analogy.

The analogy is its an empty park. There are 3 people there looking to plays 3s. You and two other people enter the park. They ask if youd like to play 3s. You say nah, and wait for 30 minutes, hoping someone who looks better at basketball than those two guys comes along.

I dont really care who it is - im playing. Im a pretty good ball player, and i have the mindset that ill win with any team, so if i end up with a worst squad, whatever, i look it as a challenge to overcome.

Id rather play in a game where im a longshot to win then sit in a virtial park scrolling through usernames for someone who meets my 'standards' lmao

This is a real thing. It's like being in Elementary or Middle School again. I don't care about my Park and Pro-Am records. I just want to play.

This answers my curiosity. I went to the hood just to play a few pick up games and sadly couldn't join a game at the rec center or anywhere. Wasted a good 30 minute trying to find a game. I'm only rated 65, could care less about a win loss record and just want to have fun. Looks like that wont happen given the playground mentality of the masses.

So let me get this straight....should you even attempt to play rec or park games till you reach a higher level? Or should I scout out players who are around my level to run pick up games with? I'm out the loop, would like to play but don't have any friends.

Heck, Deangelo Russell is barely over .500 and he can literally jump in to any game with whoever he wants.

I had a free day today so I decided to jump into the park to try it out. As I don‘t have friends who play 2k online I‘m the weird random that just tries to play but what I encountered today was just stupid. My player is a 73 right now and 75% of the other guys stepped off as soon as I hit the Got Next. Even if I had a 15-1 record. If you‘re not an 80+ it is nearly impossible to play at least on the european servers I have to play on. Some guy even said it out loud that we -the randoms- are destroying his record. He cried for 2 possessions and then quit because the opponents scored twice.

At one point I had two fellow companions and we held the court for more than 2 hours but that is extremely rare I suppose but it was fun.

Historically, I would play PNO until I accumulated enough VC to get My Player to at least 75. Side note, I used to be able to get my players to 80 something before 2K18, but 2K has been greedy with the VC of late.

Yea I don't understand 2k's infatuation with waiting. I actually had to wait in line for a few minutes today just to spin that dumb wheel in the Ante Up area.

If your record sucks --> Solution = spend 2-3 minutes inviting or messaging players with bad records. Or how about this, maybe if you see a 60 OVR you practice what you preach and invite him to your squad. Doubt it. Ya gonna do that? If you're REALLY not a 'record snob' you'll go play with a guy with 10% win% and 60 OVR lol. You guys can teamup and probably make your record worse, rinse and repeat, endless cycle It's easy to sit here on a forum and say you're not a record snob, yet when you're on your 5th loss in 6th games with yet another braindead random, you might use more time to get teammates you want.

2K is an aggravating balance of functionality vs competitiveness vs testing patience. If I want to win, I have to have a ton of patience. If I want to get in a game fast, I'm just playing to lose. Lose-lose too much of the time, or depends on your priorities.

What's always funny is the guy who may be rated a 90 and I'm a 88 or something, but his FG% is 35% with 0.8 ast avg, and he 'rep snobs' me 'cause his higher OVR.

Solution tho? Invite the lowest rated player in the park lol. You'll find players ready to play you guys ASAP.

I agree with this.... Most people are idiots and will play with 88+ ovrs (which isn’t hard to get for the trash guys that buy VC) all night long when they have one star by their name shoot 33% from the field, but will ignore good players that are below that threshold.

It’s absolutely comical how no one will play with me when I have my 75 but I get followed around with 93. My advice is find players in the 70s with a FG% above 55. The only thing more frustrating than waiting for 30 minutes to play a game is playing with a bum that has 4 turnovers and shoots 2/11 from the field (I had it happen twice tonight).

I have given chances to players with records similar to 10 - 68. Guess what? They turned out to be very smart basketball gamers and even went on a few great winning streaks.

If I could describe the park community nowadays in one word, it'll definitely be: -TOXIC-.

It's great we get to choose our park teammates (even take a hour on the myplayer cell phone analyzing people's park records), but the current method is quickly killing the Park.

I get what you’re saying but how often is that though? I would be willing to bet most of the people with horrible records like that is just terrible players.

Yes, it’s some exceptions of people that have bad records most likely because they do play a lot of games with randoms who really does suck and their record suffers because of it.

I used to play with randoms a lot back in 2K11 to 2K15 but it seems like since then, randoms has been getting progressively worse. So now, I would rather stick to playing with people I know or at least one person I know compared to two randoms. Even the dudes with good records is iffy to play with. But I really think the Parks look so boring and dead is because of what someone mentioned early in this thread about how the neighborhood is setup.
