This is a shame. I just want to play a few pick up games in my spare time. I don't care about winning or losing. I'm not trying to make someones Pro-Am squad.

I tried again last night, invited a bunch of 60+ somethings to ball with me, got no feedback so I left.

Its really sad that I cant pick up the game and play online out the box without having to go through the rigmarole of finding a game to play. Could be solved with some sort of match making system but whatevs, guess I'll stick to MyLeague.

If you're REALLY not a 'record snob' you'll go play with a guy with 10% win% and 60 OVR lol. You guys can teamup and probably make your record worse, rinse and repeat, endless cycle It's easy to sit here on a forum and say you're not a record snob, yet when you're on your 5th loss in 6th games with yet another braindead random, you might use more time to get teammates you want.

2K is an aggravating balance of functionality vs competitiveness vs testing patience. If I want to win, I have to have a ton of patience. If I want to get in a game fast, I'm just playing to lose. Lose-lose too much of the time, or depends on your priorities.

What's always funny is the guy who may be rated a 90 and I'm a 88 or something, but his FG% is 35% with 0.8 ast avg, and he 'rep snobs' me 'cause his higher OVR.

Solution tho? Invite the lowest rated player in the park lol. You'll find players ready to play you guys ASAP.

This is insane. I understand people care for good win percentages but when has it got to the point where people prioritize winning over having a good time with the game. These E-Sports have continually ruined my limited gaming experiences.

Re: Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.

I consider Park as the ranked in an FPS. The Cages now can be considered casual.

Ante Up is the most competitive. It’s like Trials of Osiris/The Nine in Destiny. This is where the “cheesers” play. It’s way More serious than ranked because virtual currency is on the line. People here use all the games meta tactics to win. Gotta respect it.

But either way they show record for a reason pretty much. Same as how they had rep in prior years. 95% of the time it’s an indication of how good a player is (in 2K) other games where it’s 5v5 FPS modes or COD/Overwatch is not the case.

But in 2k where you can run stacked in any game mode if your record is trash it’s because you don’t have friends to play with. Or you are trash lol. It’s simple. If you don’t have at least a 60% win percentage it’s a high risk playing with that person.

It’s not being a record snob. It’s because losing isn’t fun. Playing a game and losing is not fun at all.

Everyone is at the cages because you can grind badges for your player without it affecting your park w/l record

The comments and assumptions in this thread.....wow. I have losing record, because I made the mistake of making a big year after year after year in the hopes that players would know how to play with one. Nope...non-stretch bigs are pretty much at the mercy of their perimeter-oriented teammates. Truthfully, that's the main reason why I don't do park games with my rim protecting big...and no, I'm not going to create a cliche My Player character to be an idiot on offense with dribble moves and shooting a bunch of 3's. That don't excite me.

Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.

People are literally running from competition in the park!
I’m not a park guy, I’ve hated it for the last two years. I probably played a total of 400 games between 17 and 18. But, this year I’ve played a bit more than usual.
Anytime that I jump on with a couple of friends, people on win streaks will hop off and go to another court and then we sit there for 30 minutes before we move to another court and as soon as we hop on the dots, they hop off.
What in the world is going on? People are literally running from two 90s and an 88 because if they pick and choose their opponents it will make them “look” like they’re good.

Yeah man it stinks trying to get a quick game in at the park if you are a certain rating. I just recently started playing the career portion so I'm only a 64. I can rarely if ever get a game at the park. In 2k16 it was a lot easier to get a game as people weren't so judgmental of records/ratings in my experience-They just wanted to ball. They might need to break the parks down to rating restrictions (Ex: one park for 60-69 rated players , one for 70-79, one for 80-89, one for 90+). This would mean you are more likely to get a game going faster because everyone there is similarly rated(No snobs allowed).

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

The park really is dead, every park I enter half the courts are empty, maybe make everyones archetype as deadly as sharps and people would actually play.

lol WAITING ON PODSSSSSSSSS. seriously the most annoying thing about park. then if youre on a win streak the friggin game wont start because everyone is hoping on and off the got next spots. Go ahead and add an extra 10 minutes to your WAITINGGGGG if a 60 overall hops on the got next spot. Then everyone will be hoping on and off as if that will make the 60 overall get off...

I feel your pain... I have a Rim Protecter and I shoot 68% from the field (the majority being mid range) and I still rarely touch the ball as I my defender sits in the paint and my teammates still try to drive in.

Maybe one day 2K will highlight your teammate grade instead of the amount of VC you’ve spent on your player. That’s literally how your overall goes up this year - based on the amount of VC you spend. 2K can’t be more blatantly obvious than that.

Park does seem a little quiet this year and the cages are always rocking (personally hate that gameplay).

I did have to switch neighborhoods once or twice but didn't have too much trouble finding games.

I wasn't going to care about record this year, but after a night of Park my record is 11-1 and I found myself inspecting the random silvers who were looking to join.

I didn't step off any games but can't say I didn't want to. It wasn't all bad helping a guy or two improve their 10% winrates.

I don't care about my record since it's like 20-60 something like that. I tried to get a 3vs3 going on one of the empty courts and I ended up waiting longer than I wanted. Park this year is DOA.

Now the REC I have no problem getting a game going. The best part is I don't have to wait long to get a game started! None of that got next bull**** that 2k keeps shoving down our throats.

I'm gonna read through the thread, but I'm surprised I haven't seen this brought up far more: do you guys have problems joining your friends and being in the same neighborhood?

Sometimes we have to try like 10 times before it works. We'll join from phone, from party, we'll walk through subway and then do it, but there's no telling when it will work.

Re: Why Is The Park Is So Quiet This Year? Everyone At The Cages.

The parks are dead because people constantly complained about how the neighborhood was too spaced out last year. Now 2K has placed everything in the neighborhood together which is just chaos. You have a small amount of people playing while everybody else is running around to buy shoes, tattoos, haircuts and/or clothes.

Let's also not forget the random events they host throughout the day. I was in a park yesterday and it was filled with people trying to play.... until they announced the dodge ball competition. I kid you not when I say the hooping area was cleared out as everybody tried to make their way to the dodge ball competition.

Also add in the fact that you have a nice amount of brown shirts/badges running around as well. I personally won't give a brown badge player the time of day unless it's a center since centers are hard to come by. In my eyes you shouldn't be at the park if you're a short brown badge player.
