Reading through this thread was/is an eye opener for me.
Why?
As a mainly ProAm player, who played on PC and offline for many years before jumping into online for 2k17, I always wondered why 2k had such a difficult time balancing the gameplay to make most happy.
This thread gave me my answer...
There are at least two very different groups that play this game online via MyPlayer (not too mention the MyTeam and PNOs). In the past, they would've been referred to as ProAm and Park/Playground, but now the Cages represent a new or transformed group. As a player in the ProAm group, I have little interest in playing SlamBall; as do those that I play with as I've not heard any mention of 'running Cage' by them. The fact that so many have left the somewhat arcadey Playground in favour of the very arcadey Cages made me realize that many 2k gamers are very in favour of a game mode more similar to NBA Jam than sim basketball.
What this means is that when 2k asks for opinions here and more so on Twitter, without contextualizing what game style each respondent is particular too, they're getting feedback from a very differing opinions, and making changes for all at the same time.
Not sure how 2k could/should remedy this, but the point here is that, 'there are major differences in what players want in their gaming experience with some preferring a 'sim experience', while others want something closer to NBA Jam'.
Therefore, on many gameplay issues, it may just be better for the two groups to agree-to-disagree, rather than go back and forth arguing from opposite POVs.
