The answer cant be we have 5 difficulty levels, and only 1 respects ratings. Otherwise you just tune it at the highest level, and make 2 easier levels for casual guys. You tune it for all star, then make the 2 highest levels not respect ratings. Not cool with that.

Re: Patch 3 Coming
Offense and defense goes hand in hand and it's just a matter which style is going to force the other to change. Good offense is not automatically inherently better than good defense and vice versa. When I played basketball IRL, I was also assigned to best player on the court, because I was a bulldog on defense. I was able to disrupt the flow of the offense, and force a team to change their gameplay. There's NO WAY you're going to put me in 3-5 straight possessions with a pick and roll/pop play and burn me every time.To be fair, the phrase "great defense...but better offense" exists for a reason. Very rarely do you see a 30 point game that was because of open shots. Offense in basketball will always seem OP if you only watch the game, but if you look at the stats, you'll see that defense matters as well. Curry can shoot make 20 threes in a game, but the team could shoot only 49%. As overpowered as Curry may have been, the defense still made his team miss more than half of their shots. That's decent defense.
In NBA 2K, it doesn't matter how good of defense I play. The offense have so many opportunities to be bailed out by badges that you have to play damn near perfect defense to make the offense finally go "Yo, this crap isn't working. We need to try something else.". This is coming from a person who values defense over offense. A person who doesn't have my defensive nature is automatically BBQ chicken for the offense in any mode. However, my defensive attitude doesn't make the offensive players automatic BBQ chicken for me.Comment

Re: Patch 3 Coming
One thing I 100% agree with after reading through the comments is that; they need separate the superstar defenders from the good, average, and bad. For example (I play on superstar):
- When playing offline in any mode whether it's My GM, MyLeague, Play Now, etc. I've been involved in too many occasions that I come up against a brick wall defending slow big man (i.e Dirk, Jokic, Lopez) with a quick guard (i.e John wall, Chris Paul, Westbrook). Now that can be myself needing to work on my stick skills a bit more. But when I get the mismatch and call isolation I should be able to give the A.I defender 2-3 moves and blow by most of the time. Or, at least create enough space for a pull up jump shot. Instead they locking up like if they are Butler of Thompson.
That's just my main thing. Other than that, gameplay wise I'm enjoying way more than last year and just hope they don't destroy it. Just polish it up and make a couple changes that won't bring the game crashing down.

Re: Patch 3 Coming
I actually just posted something about your example you talked about. I don't have my recording stuff setup at the moment to show. But, what do you do to expose the matchup? Wait for everyone to clear out? Or? I'm curious because that's like my biggest thing I'm not understanding how to expose those switches.People say 2K makes drastic changes.
Look how drastic the feedback is.
I know examples like "Brook Lopez shut down Russell Westbrook" helps bring your point across more strongly....but is that actually true?
Show us. Maybe the community can help.
I can go in practice mode right now and literally record myself abusing that match up with no moves.
but too often, things like that are said, then fingers go in ears to any suggestions..."You're trash" comments dont help either.
We have to be better as a community overall.

Are you on PC? XB1 and PS4 both have built-in recording functionality you can use if you're on console.I actually just posted something about your example you talked about. Re: Patch 3 Coming
One fix that is necessary imo is points in the paint. No way a team like the Nets that takes almost 40 3s per game is shooting at best 20 3s while scoring 80% of its points in the paint. The fact is that on All Star it happens even if you tweak the sliders, they will force shots at all costs to take them in the paint.
Also I don't know how some users can say steals are not unrealistic when both me and the CPU are getting 10 or 15 steals everyone single game, it's just the most arcadish thing ever and it keeps the pace to an unrealistic level. In fact even the Kings play like they're D'Antoni's Suns team.
Another thing that I hate but that I'm pretty sure can't be fixed easily is the ball ending in your opponents hand every time you block him.
The rest of the gameplay is good imo.
Oh, art needs a huge update in terms of players aspect.Comment

Re: Patch 3 Coming
Man! It burns me up everytime when people ask that stupid question. The game absolutely do not need badges. Find the best player at said rating and scale everyone accordingly. It's that easy.
Currently, the player is already rated high at said basketball action, then the badges activate and stack which pushes the rating beyond 99 in some cases. It's just a dumb system.Comment

Re: Patch 3 Coming
There aren't enough fouls called on reach ins and there needs to be stamina attached to steal attempts especially in pro am where the risk reward factor is heavily in favor of the defender spamming steal. The ball can still be tangible with those two additions, the point is that spamming steal is a real problem, the passing lane steals are also jacked up because half the people are just hitting steal repeatedly when they think the ball is going to be passed and there's no consequence for it. Have you ever played a team where all 5 guys are pressing steal all throughout the possession? It looks stupid.
Why is it so difficult to ask for realistic shooting percentages, and to make defenders think about hitting steal before they do it? You could still body up a dribbler and pester him all over the court, but getting all archetypes are capable of getting on ball steals against guys who they shouldn't be able to do it against.Comment

Re: Patch 3 Coming
Oh I agree with you there. You don’t want Ben Simmons our here 3/3 on jumpers , or Carmelo locking down Lebron etc ...
2k probably just wants HOF to be ultra challenging and that brings a lot of cheese with it .#1 Laker fan

Re: Patch 3 Coming
More pass accuracy, and make the ball travel faster if it's coming from a playmaker, that way the ball gets to the shooter quicker and they have more time. Outside of that, nobody just shoots better because 1 guy is passing it to them, Jason Terry shot better from 3 with Devin Harris than he did with Jason Kidd, we all know Kidd is the better passer but using 2k logic Harris should get a dimer badge.Comment
