I don't think I've ever been a part of any online gaming community where I said, "wow, these guys are all fun, not toxic, and this is a really special experience". I've been playing since the 90's & have been part of the CoD, CS, Madden, 2K, and multiple racing game realms, in that time frame.

In reality, that doesn't exist, mostly due to the anonymity of online gaming.

If I want to have fun in an easy going, quiet environment, I play offline, it's as simple as that. If I want solid competition, but where things get glitched, abused, and repetitive, I play online.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, they both have their pro's and con's.

You kind of summed up why I only lightly dabble in online play in any video game;the whole online meta of "If you don't employ one or more of a small handful of horribly unbalanced builds,gear,or moves, then you won't be competitive at a high level" is not my style.

For you “older guys” that haven’t played online because you’re worried that you might “suck”, don’t worry. Believe me there are guys out there that you can never be worse than and a lot of them have good records.
I stayed offline only for the first couple of years myself because I felt the same as you and more so because I thought it would just be cheese and bad basketball. But, once you get used to the differences, you’ll probably dominate most people.

I agree with this. I was afraid to play people online because I thought the competition must be fierce. Also, I would molly wop the AI by 40 or more, so I am like can I do this against humans? Lo and behold I did and I do it against friends too. Well, not now of course, but previous 2Ks. I found out not many people are good. I found this out playing with a good friend of mine. I had to point shave just for him to stay in it lol. You sometimes don't want to admit you could be good and not everyone is as good as you. Not trying to be cocky, but the skill gaps are real until you see the differences.

Old, no, But I don’t feel like I’m old at 44.
But older than the norm, yes. I would assume that the average age of a 2k player is between 13 and 25, I could be wrong though.
But, when I said older players I didn’t mean that in a negative way, to me it’s a positive. Most people between 13 and 25 are not mature enough to play as a team and are only out there to boost their stats, win or lose doesn’t matter as long as they put up 40.

I’ve been playing video games since video games were invented. I remember when you hooked up a cassette player to a computer to play games. Some people don’t even know what a cassette player is. [emoji23]
My post was in response to a couple of guys that said they were older, have been playing the game since Dreamcast, and hadn’t played online. It’s my experience that people like that tend to play more fundamental basketball and I would enjoy playing with those type of people.
I honestly don’t care how old someone is, I only care if they can play basketball and aren’t driving me nuts with their immaturity.

I hear you all the way. I gotta admit I didn't even know about the cassette player to computer, but I'm old enough to remember antannaes and the magical channel 3 lol

As someone who's been playing 2k since 05 and basketball games in general since the days of Bird vs. Dr. J on the PC, it's important to remember that people are learning.

I've never played an online game. I've always stuck to myleague. I've considered trying to play online since I finally got the Playstation network. But it's intimidating when all you hear is people yelling about people who can't play and all you see is guys built up to 88 ovr on day one.

So don't assume the players are "crackheads." We all have to learn somewhere and I think 2k does a disservice by not having options where players can do just that....go to courts where the level is low and test yourself out. As a myleague player for years, I have no idea if I'm any good. Maybe slider adjustments have hid that I suck. I DON'T KNOW. And I of course don't have a group of friends online to play with as a team either. So would make me a "random" that is so looked down upon.

Just something to think about and maybe not get so worked up about people who aren't as good because they might be learning or simply not have hours and hours to devote to the game each week due to family and work commitments.

Not all 'noobs are crackheads lol. Crackheads are the ones who intentionally stay stuck in their suck, act super defensive towards any criticism or suggestions, try to talk about bball iq when they have 0, ballhog, buddyball, etc. It's a combo of arrogance and ignorance. If someone's 'teachable' or open to suggestions, that player will get better. You don't have to be a hardcore 2K head with 1000 hrs of gameplay to not be like that.

I'm done with this game for a bit. I'm having zero fun, so whats the point of playing? The community, game play and overall atmosphere is nowhere near 2K15 or 16. Just something about those games that made them super fun to play

Wish they would bring back affiliations & rival weekends.

The free daily spins stuff is dumb to me. I rarely get anything good. Always 50000 people there, and all of them crowd at the front of the wheel. Cant 2K come up with something better?

Parks are still dead. Nothing like 2k15 was. But i'm glad they made the subway thing easier, so I can switch over to another dead park even faster.

Anyone else realize how terrible the player models look in the park?

Why cant 2K put 4v4 or more 3v3 courts where the grass is when events aren't happening?

Does anyone know if there's a cap limit in the park for how many players can be in it at one time? If so, is that why the parks don't have enough of active players in it, because there's all people just in there because they loaded up their my career?

Initially I really enjoyed the game, but i still find myself wanting to go back to the older 2k games. I find the older games like 2k12, 2k13 more exciting to play. Perhaps not as sim orientated, it comes down to fun. And fun factor, the older 2k games are simply more fun to play on the court. More personality. I can't put my hand on exactly what it is. Just shows newer is not always better.

Not everybody has time to field a squad of 90 overalls and play 500 games a day
