It appears they are happening in both, I am just playing offline.

This issue pops up dating back to the launch of the game for ML and not a single person posting about the issue has also posted a solution or something they got back from 2K.

I mean, this is not a bug, this is a complete game breaking issue...

Man that is disappointing to hear especially if it is related to heavily edited roster files with a lot of created and downloaded players.... because that's the number one reason I play this game lol. I spend a lot of time perfecting my rosters.

I'll have to take others advice and save a backup file.

Some suggestions...


Never press Alt+F4 , always wait when the ball in the right screen pops up to save the game. Leave the game normal and wait till steam have synched the save files.

Don't use in the options the "save" or "save under" button.

I lost a lot of save files....you can do a backup, but it not helped me, the files again got corrupted....

If they don't fix this we gonna have touble this year in my league I made tons of Sims over 10 seasons for check sliders and bug and 90% of sim finish because crash and later corrupted save file this crash normally happen on free agency, summer league, training camp, at contract sliders on sample player after 1 seasson and also after 2026 seasson can happen the crash when you move to a new seasson I didn't have such a tons of bugs in 2k18

I got a couple corrupted saves myself when I first started my myleague. Now I save backup and make sure to wait before exiting the game mode while it saves.

Do you use the save buttons in the options menu? When i use them, its very high that my savefile gets corrupted.

THe times I have had the corruption were when I started a new myleague with a new draft class and used the save button. I never use autosave since I fool around with myleague a lot and do quite a bit of experimenting.

I started another ML yesterday and saved three files under "Save As" in the options. I mean, if these corrupt, there's no point in even playing the game anymore 'till something is fixed.

So far, so good. I've reopened the game twice now and loaded the files.

If the file corruption problem persists, it might be worth a shot to disable Steam’s cloud sync/backup functionality for NBA 2K, provided, of course, that Steam sync is enabled.

Got this error message & can't load up MyLeague. Opened a support ticket, nothing yet. Googling the error comes up with mainly info about MyCareer, but even then, not many have a true, consistent solution.

I am using this on the PC (Steam), but the issue seems to be across all versions of the game. I posted in the PC sub and here, since this generates more traffic.

Any ideas?

Same here, PC user, happened many times. My issue was I would quit everything too quickly before all files synchronized with Steam or whatever. I also play in Windowed mode and got used to clicking the X button to close the game instead of going to Quit in-game.


So now I always have two saves of the same ML career, wait until everything gets saved (that little basketball while saving disappears), go to Exit in ML to the main screen and then go to quit there in-game. Then wait a few minutes until Steam finishes synch before exiting that too.

Corrupted file didn't happen after I started doing that.

I also use heavily edited rosters, draft classes, sliders etc and I stopped having the issue. So either they fixed it or it was the synch and quitting too abruptly.

This might be the problem. I'd agree it might be worth disabling the cloud sync, especially if you aren't playing on multiple computers.
